Oh and about all the scripted debate. I dont care if people think Im a geek. Its a continuum. Buzzcocks is more scripted under Amstell. Before it was less. In a way all stand ups like Amstell are scripted. Simon still has to think of jokes before the show. His talent is finding when to reveal those jokes.

For example with the joke about kurt Cobain. He thought of the joke before, he just waited until the right time to say that to Noel.

People say "This show and these people aren't funny becasue everyone knows it's scripted." Yet movies are all scripted and people laugh at them. Stand up comics write all the stuff they say prior to doing a gig. An people still find these things funny.

And most of the people who are funniest on these kinds of shows write the vast majority of their stuff.

I bought into the allusions to Christ and ancient Greece and assumed it was one of those late night low budget pretentious artistic shows hell bent on drawing connections between disparate references in an attempt to sum up a common thread in humanity, when in fact it's a classic, original attempt at self-satire.
