  • QUESTION:

Why is the face primer necessary for this?

    Thank you.

  • I wuv this vid, but it was filmed when my uncle died, so, BOOOO

  • I would be PIIIISSSSSTTTT if my gel eyeliner came out of the box like that!

  • I heard that using a mild saline solution works too

  • Your tip help me a lot, a million thank!!1

  • Hi Koren, I just wanted to let you know that you can get Cyclomethicone (this is the silicone which will dry up) at coastalscents. I bought a bottle of it and shared it with my makeup-crazy friends, because a little lasts a loooong way. You'd maybe want to get this, because this way you will only get a solvent which will dry out completely later, so the consistency and the ingredients of the gel eyeliner won't be altered at all. I use it on everything waterproof that has dried out.

  • hi I just started watching your videos and I love them! just suscribed tnx a lot!!!

  • This is fantastic. I tried with with my elf cream liner that dried up and it worked really well. Now to see how long it lasts before I have to do it again.

  • Thank you so much!!!

  • Wow... that is really good to know, I put one in the trash never again. I love your videos!

  • I wish I would have found this vid before I chucked my fav black liner..smh. But I have saved others from that horrible fate. THANKS A MILLION!!!!

  • GAH I'm so excited! I have 4 eyeliners that I held onto because they were just so gorgeous and mow I can wear them again! I love u!

  • What a fab idea. I have a couple of liners which need reviving and I was about to ditch them before I saw this video. Cheers.

  • Hello encore! Super useful video:), just a question, If I dont have face primer, could I use eye shadow primer like too faced primer?????

  • @lizzieadorefashion eyeshadow primer is different from face primer. I don't think it would work.

  • enkore!!..jhelp.. how do you revive mascaras???

  • would this work with the covergirl with olay concelors? mines dried and it was $12!

  • Thank you Koren, but I couldn't mix the mixing med with the face primer, I had to drain out the water after I put it in the microwave.

  • thank you so much! Being a make-up artist myself, I am sensitive about the chemical elements and need too answer these questions for clients myself. You seem lovely! Many Blessings!

  • Do MAC Paint Pots have dimethicone them ? or are they just cream shadow bases?

  • Hi Koren

Thanks for the extremely useful information. I don't have access to glycerin & I am wondering if I can use the MAC FACE & BODY MIXING MEDIUM?

I bought this after watching your tutorial on pressing eyeshadows/pigments (it worked really well too) and the ingredients are not listed on the bottle of the Mixing Medium.

Could I use the MAC Face & Body Mixing Medium as a substitute for your glycerin liquid & mix to equal quantities with a clear face primer?

    Thank you very much!

  • Omf u scare me o.O

  • Why are you adding more silicones into the liner? I suppose that the silicones which the liner already contains, won't evaporate anywhere, even though the moisture does. Most gel liners also do not contain glycerine, so is it surely fine to add it in the product? Some people may like the new consistency, which this tip creates, but it can also affect in the product'ts water resistancy and other qualities

  • gotta love how thorough you are! <3

  • Great help thnank you! And btw your voice sounds like Ben's from Lost to me. ^

  • I tried this method and it really worked...and the texture is even better than b4...the staying power and anti-smudging ability is just like before and i'm pretty sure this method is better than adding eyedrops to it or putting it into warm water..just be mindful of the products you put into the eyeliner because they may irritate your waterline

  • All this explanation make more sense to me than just adding water, firstly because water is not even in the ingredient list of any gel liner. What if I use a silicone pressing medium? I have Avon Magix Face perfector primer, but it's not exactly clear, it's powdery. But I realized my pressing medium's main ingredients are cyclomethicone and dymethicone... Do you think this would work better than my avon primer?

  • OMG, I love you for this!! So, so useful!!!

  • Fab tutorial!

  • This was unnecessarily long.

  • would this work for cream liners?

  • oooooooooooooooh. this is like chem project =D

  • Yes, This works, thanks...TRACK

  • Skip to 6:40 if you just want to see the steps on how to revive the dried up liner

  • would this method work for the HIP cream eyeliners or can i just mix it with your homemade mixing medium??? =]

  • you can also use a hair straightener to heat it :) nxx

  • i have two questions, would i be able to do this to revive urban decay primer potion i depotted bc now its all dry and hard to spread. and can i use this method to turn cream foundation to liquid?

  • what about the lasting of the fixed eyeliner? did it stay on as long as before?

  • @shiroxchoco

no, because the air will actually dry it out more... You need to put in a liquid (not water) to add moisture back in it. any face mist or primer would do.

  • He's gay, right...?

  • @shiroxchoco u can do one yourself!!! go to his homemade mixing medium video... it's a really easy and inexpensive to achieve.

    hope this helps.

  • Koren, will the mixing medium and silicone from the primer irritate your eyes? Because I don't think those two products are meant for use on the sensitive skin around the eyes. I just wanted to be sure before I did this to my Bobbi Brown. Please let me know! xox

  • just skip to 6:12 so u can see how to revive your gel liner

  • Koren you are my savior I shall bow down to you aha

  • if I have a Silicone based Mixing Medium for Airbrush makeup, can I use it as a replacement for the Mixing Medium you used here and the silicone Primer?

  • thank the lord for this video! you have no idea how many paintpots i've thrown away due to dryness lol

  • THANK U SO MUCH KOREN!! Ur amazing! Subbed!

  • Thank you thank you THANK YOU!

  • That is sooo cool! Thank u Koren! Great tip!!!! : D

  • @EnKoreMakeup would this also work for my studio finish concealer? does it affect the staying power? and is fix+ ok to use or should i use a glycerin gel medium?

  • this MIGHT be a stupid question (actually it may just be) but...by doing this process would it make the eyeliner easier to crease and smudge around our eyelid and stuff?

  • U.R.GENIUSSS!!!!!! i luv u!!!

  • Thank you so much for this!!! I've been mixing dried gel liners with Vaseline (not very effective ) but Never Again!! Your ideas are ingenious!!

  • i know i'm off topic but WOAAHHHH that gel liner has shrunken SO MUCH! i just can't stop laughing after seeing that! it's EPIC!!!! XD

  • Would repeating the process (assuming that same mix dries out multiple times) thin out or diminish the color strength or pigmentation?

  • Thanks

  • Will this work with the loreal hip cream eyeliners?

  • Oh my god that mixture looked like something else.

  • will this work with cream liner?l

  • You're a genius.

  • I think it would be more economical for me to just buy a new pot as its only £8 ^_^ thanks for the help anyway!

  • Thanks Kore. this tute was a big help.

  • Thanks so much!!!! My mac gel liner dried up and now I don't have to waste it!

  • SCIENCE!

  • I really appreciate you making this video. If I had bought a brand new gel liner that arrived dried up, I would have sent it back.

  • are cream liners the same as gel liners?

  • can u use the same method for cream concealers too???

  • can u also do this for dried up concealers?

  • Koran, your vids are so helpful to so many ppl. Why on earth would anyone spend so much $ on a new gel liner when all they have to do is revive it?! Laziness, I suppose. Thank you so much. xxoo

  • I LOVE that you answered my inquiry from a while ago! You're the best Koren!

  • I mixed my dried liner with Giovanni's Straight Fast! (a hair product that has mostly, if not all, natural ingredients; I use it in my hair instead of other silicone hair styling products.) I mixed a glob of liner with a dot of Straight Fast! on the back of my hand. It didn't seem to compromise the staying power of the liner at all. Also, what do you think of mixing the dried liner with a waterproof makeup remover (Lumene; Essence of Beauty, etc.)? Would love your professional opinion! Thanks!

  • Can you do the same thing with benefit creaseless cream shadow?

  • aww Koren i loved the " gah...hot...hot..hot" hahah thanks for the tip!

  • Doesn't it cost more to revive than throw it away? Just a thought.

  • @istarzgirl

Not really. You can get Smashbox primer samples at Sephora.

  • @vertstylus how much?

  • Hey Koren! I seriously love ya. You are such a great guy. Anyway, just wanted to point out something. You know by heating plastics it transfers BPA etc. then putting it on our lids makes it worse because of absorption. So my thoughts are before heating buy the little glass containers and do it in there where we are sure there will be no BPA transfer. Just a serious thought.

  • @lexxipaul That's a great thought. I did think about that when I was considering what to do since my eyeliner came in a plastic jar. Since it was only in the microwave for 20 seconds though, I decided that I would chance it.

  • really thank you!!!

  • You gave absolutely no instruction by the 5 minute mark and I ended it. Please just get to it already!

  • Wow, that didnt even take very long thank u!

  • I'd love to spend at least one day with you to learn. I'm 45 and have MS and have been turned away for having MS so many times, but they don't know I can sit and do great work too! I want to learn from the best and I've watched all of your videos and see it's you! Think about my quest to make my dream to come to life! Thanks!!!!

  • It didn't work, when i microwaved it. fire started coming so i stopped it I was so scared im never doing that again.

  • You are AMAZING! :)

    Thank you SO much!!

    xoxo

  • how can fake lashes be revived after just one use LOL

  • @spiceyazn He actually has a video for that, and it works.

  • aw i can tell encore loves us :)

  • OMG Koren you are so great! I have an old paint pot Ive just saved in a drawer not wanting to throw away and now I can get it back. You are the master!

  • Oh man...wish I would have seen this many, many fluid line pots ago!!! Many thanks! gotta go depot some liner now :) than have I never thought to depot tiny amounts of liner?!? THAn

  • How often can you do this? I know bacteria builds up in mascara and liners and they should be replaced every 6 months or so.

  • Great advice, especially because my beloved Manic Panic Spider Liner is not too easy to come by in Germany...

  • Hi Koren does the same procedure apply for dried up paint pots???

  • @ChanelAmor Yup!

  • Awesome info, thank you!

  • Is it still safe for the eyes? and will the color still be the same?

  • @missmekissme18 hater much?

  • @missmekissme18 stupid jerk, leave koren alone, he's more straight than you

  • Koren is AWEEEEESOOOMEEEE!

  • I'm so excited about this video! I'm going to need to go out and buy those products to keep around in case this happens to my gel liners. I can tell that my Stila liner is starting to dry out a bit, so I will definitely have to try this! Thank you!

  • can you use mac fix plus?

  • would doing this effect the smudging?

  • Thanks Koren, I didn't have mixing medium and face primer, so I used Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Gel. It have few silicone derivatives and glycerin in its gel formula, so I thought it might work. It actually work with my ELF Cream Eyeliner. Yay!

  • is the same tips ok for cream e/s or blush?

I threw out guerlain cream products T_T

is there free silicone base? Because I don't have any so buying a new liner might be cheaper.

    Thanks.

  • do u ever wear makeup other than in tuturials. serious question. jw

  • I love my gel liners that I have carefully selected for color-consistency, and yeah, no matter how careful I am, they do dry out.

*BRILLIANT IDEA* and instructions here -- and thank you for sharing this with us! Keep 'em coming pls!

  • Hi Enkore,

Where did you get the Glycerin-Water based mixing medium?

    Thank you

    Ammy

  • @loveammy I believe that the one he said he had was from MAC. Otherwise he has a tutorial on how to make your own mixing medium from home, for A LOT cheaper!

  • Encore...you are awesome!!!

  • love your videos, Koren, but you might want to try editing them down. you repeat yourself constantly, and it takes way too long for you to show the procedure. Just some constructive feedback.... :)

  • hmm perhaps we can place this on a bowl of hot water too?

  • I was just thinking I needed to look a video like this up :) Thanks so much!

  • You just made my day! Thank you!

  • the 19 people who dislike this video are makeup CEO's big wigs who rather you go out and buy another gel liner when yours dry up.

  • omg thank you! my mac fluidline is drying up like crazy. it's about a year and a half old and i used to use it every day, but i haven't used it in a couple months and i used it today and it was like all crumbly and weird.

i tried this as soon as i finished watching this video and it worked!

ive been using my "dried up" gel liners everyday!

  • ty!

  • can u order inglot makeup online or is it just in stores?

  • May the Lord Richly Bless ALL your work!! I was able to contribute my help a while back to a company about this Gel problem when they were just being produced....results> They can't be maufactured in a plastic container, they must be put into glass jars of no more than 1gram approx All other info you prescribe here really helps a lot.......also can anyone help me get t.he GREEN thumb to work when I vote on a video THX

  • i mixed mine with a bit of visine and mixed it up and it works fine now - try it!!

  • KOREN!! its not working for me!! i mixed 1 part glycerin mixture (1 part glycerol, 3 part purified water), then 1 part smash box face primer. the primer and gycerine solution isnt mixing together :(, i tried heating it up a little that didnt work either. am i doing something wrong? can somebody help me?

  • I LOVE THIS VIDEO! i recently bought Coastal Scents gel liner.... ugh the 1st set were dry so i complained and they sent me another pair and they were still dry :( I will definately try this. thank you soooo much!!!

  • Can I use this method to MAC paint pot? please kindly help Enkore! Thank You!

  • @chinchilladevoted look in the info box, ur answer is there

  • @chinchilladevoted he says in his description box that YES, you can also use this for paintpots

  • You're the best, Koren!

  • Thanks Koren, You have such great advice! :)

  • great tips! Thanks EnKore

  • Kore, you can also melt it in a bain-marie: you' ll hold it over boiled water. You' ll move it on water like a boat, with the bottom of the jar being sunk.

  • Go EnKore!

    Go EnKore!

    Always saving us money...

  • koren, you need to lay your hands on inglot's duraline. it comes in a small bottle with a dropper. EXCELLENT is the word. you don't need to go through any of this trouble to bring your gel liners back to life!

  • wow thats very helpful thanks i will try that :)

  • Isn't it quite unhygienic to use a hairdryer though? Because bacteria and germs might be blown into the pot, and since it's an eyeliner, it's not exactly the best thing to have something that might be potentially contaminated on the eye =/ but again, very good video tutorial but my only concern with it is that people should only use the microwave method and NOT with a hair dryer - no matter how much easily accessible it is. Just my two pence.

  • Can you please do a video on how to make your own gel liner? I've been searching for a specific color gel liner but can't find it and i don't really want to order online so i ws wondering if you knew how to custom make your own.

  • @octoberL0VE That's a great idea! Making your own gel liner is something I never thought about! Hope he answers you and makes a video if he knows a method! Thanks

  • will this work with cream eyeliners?

  • you are amazing. this is such a great video! x

  • Thank you soooooo much!! This is amazingly helpful!

  • wow thanks! now i can save my elianto gel liners!

  • awesome!!

  • So useful! Thank you Koren!

  • Using a hair dryer seems counter-productive? Microwave it in my opinion. Two completely different methods of energy transfer.

  • You, sir, are a GENIUS!

Thank you soooo much once more

    <3<3<3<3<3<3<3

  • how did you figure this out? i threw so many jars.. with dried up products

  • this is exactly the video i needed

  • It's a very useful tutorial!! thank you :)

do you think that can be used the same precess for a cream blush?

  • Thank youuuuu!!!:)

  • great!!!!!

  • thanks for this useful video! :)

  • Wow ur amazing!!

  • thats great , so helpful thanks :o)

  • thank u so much for this tutorial...i wish i would have seen this though before i threw my gel liners away. i dont wear make up everyday usually about once or twice a week and when it dries up i throw it away...

  • Very helpful, I have this problem with all my gel liners. Thank you!

  • Thank you so much for the information. I have thrown a few good black gel liners. Good thing I didn't throw out my sapphire color gel liner. It's one of my favorites. Now I know how to revive it.

  • You sir are freakin brilliant ;D

  • wow, i would have just thrown the liner away if this happened to me! THANKS KOREN!!

  • How can I fix my mascara when it start to dry out

  • @yilnia don't use it. it means it is getting too old.

  • @yilnia you can't revive it because it is water-based.

  • @yilnia you should really throw it away and get a new one if it's dried imo

  • @Japsummer I think that the point is, that if it is in ones best interest they can rehydrate it.

  • @yilnia put it in hot water, then let it cool... it works really good with my mascara!

  • @yilnia u cant when its dry or clumpy that means its time to replace it after 3 months or so mascars starts to harbors bacteria and i dont think u want that near your eyes
