@stoparapentevideo i might have missed a word here and there but this is what he said "And now we’d like to give you our version of a tune that has been very closely associated with me over many many decades, mainly because I wrote it, It has withstood the vicissitudes of the contingent world, and moved in an odyssey into the realm of the metaphysical, and may we offer at this time “A Night in Tonisia.”"
@TONYRT925 Danilo Perez is playing piano on this album.
I met danilo last month, he was at my University as part of a festival for the Taubman Piano method. He is such a nice dude, and a wonderful teacher and clinician.
i think they all suck cock!!!!!!!! Jk the only one really killing it is dizzy...... arthuro and Roditti are fantastic but im tired of hearing random squeaks from arthuro Roditti is much more lyrical but dizzy is the true master in exspression by far....... fantastic shell stuff
Incredible seashell playing, and I believe I saw the one and only Arturo Sandoval playing here too. This is AKA having the two best jazz trumpets of the time in one performance!!!
I beg your pardon! Dizzy Gillespie was the one who popularised this genre of jazz. He, in his older age, did end up having a weaker tone. I still think that he is brilliant!
When Steve Turre was just coming up, playing clubs in Boston, I used to hear him do the sea shells when he had just gotten into it. It was amazing years ago and still is.
Tunesia is a magic place: Due to Dizzy's tune and due to the "Tunisreise" of the famous german expressionist painters before first world war.

3, you forgot Claudio Roditti. IMO he was/is better as a jazz musician cause he plays alot more lyrical than Sandoval, all 3 still phenominal.

Shut up. I, as a jazzer, think he's awful in this as well.

Well... when you are 72, I'd like to see you do better.

If you are so called a "jazzer" then you'll know what Dizzy has done for all of us Jazzers everywhere.
And appreciate him, even if he doesn't sound nearly as strong as he did once.
steebelmoan 3 years ago
Agreed, he is 72 in here, you can't blame the guy.
