@Cadschi yes, the producers also liked rock and his character and although he was originally only signed for 6 episodes they wanted him to stay on for the remainder of the season (and put him in a love triangle with lady ashley and jeff) but he could not stay b/c his health was rapidly deteriorating...you can c a difference between his 1st appearance and his last.....he went down hill fast....

@SHELLMADDE They kept her on because the viewers always campained for her to return. People just love heather Locklear (so do I). Thats why she save the original melrose Place. The show as going down the tubes but when she came on the ratings went up!

It is b/c Daniel is going on a very dangerous mission where he knew that he might not make it back.

Check out one of the earlier clips of this same episode. In that scene, Daniel tells Dex he is going on a mission in Libya to save a captive reporter and asks Dex to come with him but Dex refuses. Daniel and Dex are mercenaries.
