  • All i can say is This is truly an amazing man!

  • The best song of a great album.I love this version but if you can check out Dylan live 84 its an album and has a good version of this song.

  • ...and his brain has been mismanaged with great skill

  • : )

  • He looks like Adam Sandler in this vid

  • Great

  • Fantastic song. Knopfler's smooth fills on the strat are a great accompaniment along with the organ swells...

  • I love this song it's like my favorite

  • dylan wrote this song about obama - thanks alex

  • Yeaaaaaahh, right...pffft.

  • @kitchawan Sounds like he wrote it about me. Or you.

  • Gotta love Knopfler

  • i like this take better...the drums and guitar are punchier

  • Great video from INFIDELS studio sessions April/May, 1983 ... Bob, Mark Knopfler, Mick Taylor, Robbie Shakespeare, & Alan Clark ... but not version released on INFIDELS.

  • This has to be from around 1978 as Knopfler joined Dylan to record Slow Train Coming which was released that year. If so the bassplayer should be Tim Drummond... Actually Dylan felt uncool around this time and Knopfler was up n coming so Dylan asked Knopfler to join him to record an album which he did. Sold pretty well too I think... peace out

  • this is from 'infidels' 1983

  • ah, ok. Lucky I wrote "around 1978" then beacuse that was the year Knopfler joined...

  • what song is this?

  • license to kill

  • como se llama este tema'?

  • se llama "license to kill"

  • gracias loco

  • this is a great song... if only they took away that drum beat!

  • i will miss him..

  • I like this cause it's Dylan with a good song, but with Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits-- plus his keyboardist, Mick Taylor of the Stones, and who's that on bass? From Toots and the Maytal??

I can never get enough of Mick Taylor (blush).

  • That's Robbie Shakespeare on Bass, yes from Toots & The Maytals, + virtually every other Jamaican artist since 1973, including Bob Marley! Him & Sly Dunbar (drummer) are possibly the most recorded rhythm section in the history of recorded music.

  • @paparichie1980

The bassman is Aston 'Family-man' Barrett from Bob Marley and the Wailers, brother of Carton 'Carly' Barrett,The Wailers' former drummer before he got murdered.

  • BEAUTIFUL

  • Dylan jest wielki

  • increíble

  • We have declared war on the earth, in a feeble attempt to conquer it. Look at our ancestors, their dead cultures and empty monuments, show us what happen to broken civilizations. We always seem to need to be told how to live, whether it's prophets or pamphlets. We aren't flying on the wings of this civilization, we're falling, and that ground is rushing up fast now. World Culture is a ghost, that whispers broken promises. We've reached our peak, and now we cease and assist , or cease to exist.

  • He was criticized so much during those years. Looking back on it, I wonder why. He lost himself in that song... those lyrics! And the way he sings, Baby... noisemaker, spiritmaker, heartbreaker, backbreaker... the effect on the song.... This is wonderful stuff...

  • Great! Dylan is THE man.

  • i have to agree

  • aPRENDER INUTLES, DE LOS rAMONES Y DE mAS

  • aprende a escribir mejor

  • Dylan should get the Nobleprize of Literature and music!

  • @Anarcho09

i think he has. although, this is my opinion, his greatest accomplishment was bringing jakob dylan into world. he is my favorite artist.

  • @Anarcho09

    He totally has.

  • @Anarcho09 Well, regarding music he's gotten the Oscar, The Grammy, The Polar Music Prize, The Prince of Asturias Award and belongs in the US and London R'N'Roll Hall of Fame. He still deserves a recongintion in literature beyond that honorary Pulitzer Prize he received.

  • Never-ending greatness

  • que groso escribe este tipo loco, muy buena canción.

  • The song has a kind of a Reggea flow to it. Dylan is great...

  • i adore this song - any ideas about the meaning of the lyrics?

  • Well, I would at least interpret it as an objection to mankind ruining the earth as well as each other. The "who is gonna take away his license to kill" part would be an indication that something needs to be done, and fast as we are effectively killing our surroundings. The reference in the opening lines to technology would probably be an indication that Dylan thinks it has hurt the world more than it has given us.

I also think the middle verses touch greed and violence caused by it.

  • Mark Knopfler and Mick Taylor too, awesome! I wonder if they've played together before or since this video shoot.Bob is definitely the man,and this song maybe one of his most under-rated.

  • SEACH EXTINTO ROJO IN YOUTUBE

  • bob dylan was born bob zimmerman and as he grew up he was acculay interested in the piano and really

  • Well... His name was Robert Allen Zimmerman:)

  • most underated album of his. Infidels is one of his finiest in my opinions...this and Man of Peace are my favs but everthing on that album is good

  • My favorite guitarist and my favorite song writer.

    Just magic. =]

  • In my opinion, Bob Dylan is a very good guitarist, too.

  • BOB eres el mas grande de todos los tiempos!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thank you for uploading this. i do not really care for bob dylan too much, although i am a HUGE Jakob Dylan fan. Great song, as timeless as We're Already There is and I wouldn't hardly say that about any other song in the world.

  • what year is this??

  • 1984

  • mc of the 60s b4 hip hop

  • just a masterpiece

  • Dylan, Knopfler and Robbie Shakespeare (Peter Tosh's bassist)

  • Oh, forgot Sly Dunbar on drums (also of Peter Tosh fame). Didn't see him back there.

  • Also Mick Taylor plays on the Album version.

  • It's w-o-r-s-e, not "worst." I like his voice just fine.

  • i think you will find that the bike crash he had in 66 had a role in his voice changing along with other reasons.

  • I do not know about his 66 bike crash...was he badly hurt?

  • Yes he was, and i believe that it was a damned good thing.

Because if he would've been worked to death, by his manager with all the drugs given to him. He also got to spend time with his wife and kids, and he really wanted that. So all was well in the end.

  • No he wasn't. He was hurt but not enough to go to hospital. Can read an account in the Sounds bio. It was a huge turning point tho. He was spent, needed a break. It gave him a chance to take a look at his life and get away from the drugs and touring. May have save him. He said he realized 'parasites' were all around him. Think Albert Grossman, his manager, for one.

  • no man... in this ages dylans voice is the best for me... Street Legal and Infidels, mature but no enougth broken, speciall voice ever cool

  • I think Dylan has so many faces in music. He has made so many albums that he has different ages in music

  • woow nice song from Infidels, my fauvorite in this album. Thanks.

  • Hi. Can you tell me what is the title?

  • License to kill

  • we love you Bob Dylan!! Great voice and pretty song you sing..your amazing!!-great influences you are to me!

  • Hi Bob,

it´s a great song. I´m teaching your songs the younger generation and the love it!

My name is Michael Engel. I´m also on You Tube.

    God bless you

    Michael

  • Was Mark Knopfler BORN looking 40?

  • hahaha

  • mark knopfler is much better than bob dylan

  • on the guitar, yes

  • on the guitar, but not his songwriting (i love both artists.).

  • bobdylan is the master, maybe god in music. What are you saying? Knopfler is excellent play guitar

  • knopfler!!!

  • Love the album Mick Taylor adds excellence to any thing he's involved with! thanks for posting.

  • Awesome. One of Dylan's best songs if you ask me...

  • Wonderful

  • This was always my least favorite song off of Infidels, but after watching this video I like it so much more.

  • I have been singing this, in my head, all day!

  • its good. but its a little cheesy right?

  • Is this video from any specific documentary? is this the album version of the song, or just a random jam with the Knofler bros?

  • This is a jam version of the song, the album version is on Infidels.

  • thank you sir!

  • A prophet like the ones in the Bible.

  • This is a great song...

  • einfach wunderbar

  • one tasty ass jam

  • I love this man.

  • frankii7...its liscence to kill. from infidels 1983

  • Yes, it's from Infidels. :-D

  • he's dressed essentially the same as David Bowie is on the cover of Bowie At The Beeb.

  • ". . . and his eyes just tell him lies."

  • i just don't understand when youtube became a place to cut others down for not having the same viewpoints. if you want to bitch, ramble and rant get a blog. everyone is different and not everyone enjoys the same kind of music, but regardless you can respect other people. if ya don't like it, then just say so and be done with it. =D

  • fairplay, indeed its the only way forward, much love x

  • what is this song called?

    amazing!

  • It's called "License to Kill".

  • i used to listen to this when i was in dire straits( i owed alot of $ for the cable and gas and oh yeah my gambling addiction. all im saying is white trash chicks r hot.)

  • Everyone just needs to grow up and enjoy the music. If you don't enjoy it, don't listen to it. Simple as that. No need to be spreading around negativity. You're ruining it for the people who really care to make an educated comment on this amazing song.

  • let me rate it...great lyricist in the 60s ...important for my generation, opened doors for others...

  • great lyricist in the 60s 70s 80s 90s and 00s

  • 50 years of genius !

  • davidsan01 = backstreet boys. or wait, maybe fall out boy?

  • Nah, there just shite!

  • Mark knopfler is the shit, but his music is heavily influenced by dylan's, according to him.

  • hahahahahahahahaha

  • These two man are great, you shut up.

  • Why don't you FUCK OFF, can't i voice my own opinion or are you just another typical Bob Dylan fan. If you think he's so great ask him why he changed his surname. Is he ashamed to be Jewish?

  • sorry you're retarded

  • yeah whatever.

  • coulb cuz its not as catchy ad bob dylan

  • Changing his surname has nothing to do with how a person feels towards his music - its irelevant. His reasons for changing his name are none of your business and it aint your place to judge how he feels about religion

  • haha one of the most creative person of our time, and you are judging him about his Jewish heritage..... to be honest I wouldn't be the proud of being a jew right now and remaining silent about the horrors in the Gaza

  • The Palastinians aren't that innocent you know, they're just as much to blame, anyway, He's not that creative, his songs sound all the same i.e. very boring! And you sound like a typical Dylan fan, thinking he's all high and mighty like he is a prophet or the messiah! To be honest many people listen to him or claim they like him just to impress others. Well i'm sorry to say but in my opinion he's vastly overated lyricaly and musically! I don't care what you or anyone else thinks.

  • the good thing is that you're among the very few who think that way , but as someone already said, if you don't like his music, just don't listen to it. Dylan's lyrics are really great even if it hurts you.

  • Anyone who says that Dylan songs all sound the same obviously hasn't listened to him. Pick any album you can't say that. Let alone a sampling from his 45+ years of playing everything from country, folk, blues, reggae and in your face rock.

  • many artists change their names you moron. you're just bitter.

  • Yawn! zzz zzz zzz

  • and actually there's an interview he did with 60 minutes in 2004 where he explains why he changed his name.. and it's actually a rather simple reason. just lookin' out. =P

  • And that is?

  • "destiny"

  • Davidsan01,

Why did Tony Bennett change his name? Who gives a rats ass? Dickweed!

  • I don't know. Go and ask him. 'Dickweed'!?! Ooh your so offensive. LOL

  • Mark Knopfler is.

  • This man has defined generations. We are lucky to be alive in his era. This is a great song and video, unknown to everybody.

  • excpet for the few hundred thousand people in the world who bought the album, the millions who have probably heard it, the 343,457 people who have viewed this video.

  • Happy New Year Bobby!! ^^

  • dylan wie er leibt und lebt

    gruss wju

  • infidels es realmente una obra de arte como todo las suyas.Realmente Dios puso la mano sobre dylan cuando nacio.

  • estoy de acuerdo!!

  • amazing, this song works great with knopfler and all the other members its got a great sound. dylan is incredible i mean how much has this man done for music??? theres no one today take his place after him. not as yet any way and im not holding my breath if there will be. musics changed not for the better neither!! not as far as im concerned that is.

  • 2 words....Jimi Hendrix

  • i love this, no one could ever cover this and make it sound the same (/as good.)

  • Knopfler, Dylan, and Mick Taylor from the Rolling Stones... who else is there?

  • "Arguably Dylans best album

    Arguably Dylans best decade"

    QUITE arguable.

  • man this video is great!

    thans for this!

  • Man thinks 'cause he rules the earth he can do with it as he please

And if things don't change soon, he will.

Oh, man has invented his doom,

First step was touching the moon.

  • its from INFIDELS in 1983.

My most favourite Dylan song JOKERMAN is on this album.A must hear!!

  • Dylan and knopfler my two heroes together great!

  • Arguably Dylans best album

    Arguably Dylans best decade

  • yeah, arguably alright but fucking brilliant decade- this album in particular.

  • Mick Taylor just rules a Guitar Fret Board.

  • he has like a keith richard smooth guitar playing.

  • steeez

  • Knopfler and dylan?, classic combo!..thanks for posting.

  • BrianBTucker is one of my favourite people for posting this. I have to watch it at least 3 times a week.

  • legend

  • Bob is one cool-ass white boy!!

  • Oh Man!! I love this! Bobby is so cool! But who are the others playin with him? Would ya let me know who they are? This is sweet and thanks for submitting it! :D

  • Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits - see 'Sultans of Swing' - next to Dylan. Don't know about the rest.

  • It looks like former Stones guitarist Mick Taylor playing the red and white Stratocaster

  • This song is the jam.

  • 2 fucking legends right thur

  • all he believes are his eyes

and his eyes just keep telling him lies

hmm thats heavy. guys connected up above

  • to peterthesongman, thats true, I was at his concert last month and among other things it was a religious experience.

  • Sublime.

  • bob .... simplismente um genio ........

  • you don't have to be pretty to make great music :)

  • "Infidels" is my favorite Bob Dylan album after "Blood on the Tracks"

  • Im guna go for Desire, although those two are close behind.

  • Mark's got hair!

  • Lol Mark Knopfler owns, you can tell its him playing guitar before you even see him. His sound is that distinct.

  • Bob is the man. check out another license to kill song at loudpoppingsound

  • these guys are so high!!!

  • you are a dweeb

  • Are they? Me I get "high" just when I hear this sound, that's like trance.
