  • I don't know Japanese and have only played the GBA version of the game - but still well worth watching!

  • iv'e played this game and finished it.. and it was frickin cool.. the twist at the last part was heart warming man...

  • This game on Playstation was so very very awesome.

  • This dub is much superior. I found it hard to appreciate the English dubs after playing through the SEGA Saturn game.

  • I like Luna's softer English voice a little better, except when it comes to the boat song, which much harder to choose. Regardless, since Tomokazu Seki is voicing Kyle, the Japanese version automatically wins.

  • This brings back old memories!

  • The three sisters sound really strange in Japanese.

  • do u know the part when luna was singing with the other singers where they were kept captive?

  • Yes. Why?

  • can u send me the link to that part plz

  • Oh and Korean for Mia as well. Nash well I couldn't care less.

  • Comment removed

  • I like the English Opening version. I like the Japanese for Nall, Fuairin (or the White Dragon). I like the English for Dyne and Mel. I like Korean (now I bet you guys won't know this one lol) for Alex, Luna, and the bad characters.

  • The guy doing Alex's voice sounds EXTREMELY familiar...*racks his brain*...

  • That would be the - quite talented - Akira Ishida, who most would probably know as either the voice of Xelloss from Slayers or Kaworu Nagisa from Evangelion.

It's more obvious in later cutscenes

  • Evangelion! THAT'S where I recognize it from! Thanks! I'm actually watching the Platinum Collection with all of the Director's Cuts...

  • Haha, I'm not used to hearing Nall's Japanese voice. At least it doesn't sound like he inhales helium 24/7 (Though for the record, his dub voice was kind of funny.)

  • I love Kyle all the more now for using Kamina's (Gurren Lagann) catch phrase and to me sounding just like him

  • One of the best RPGs of all time.

  • Omg, one of my favorite video games when I was a kid, I looked all over to find it, one day I just happen to find it in GameStop of all places for a hefty $50 cause of it's rarity. But this is an awesome game, if anyone can find the rom, PLAY IT.

  • I dropped $90 for the complete version. It has the cardboard box (ravaged by time, but still good), all four CD's and the jewel case mint, the leather-bound hint book excerpt, and the little cloth world map. Best purchase I ever made. I also have all 3 Lunar games for the Saturn.

  • all 3? I thought there was only 2?

  • There was a Game Gear game called Lunar: Walking School, it was remade for the Saturn and called Magic School Lunar.

  • Well, there are two versions of Silver Star Story, one of them is called the "MPEG Card Version" or something and has MUCH better music.

  • I LOVE THIS GAME

  • It's games like this that make me regret Working Designs going belly-up.

  • Mia looks like princess Kara from Illusion of Gaia. o_o

  • Nash is such a fag.

  • I like Luna better than Lucia. xD The dragon is funny. and Nall! Omg he's my fav too!

  • muy buen juego!!! merece todos os remakes de la historia!!!

  • Quark sounds awesome in Japanese, like a dragon should sound. But Luna, she sounds older in Japanese.

  • I love that ocarina

  • I like the english intro better but the jap is still great this game rock thanks for the upload :D

  • ramus doesnt sound fat anymore...

  • someone can sound fat?

  • budakzpakour, The song is called Wings(Or Tsubasa) :)

  • i wanna know the song for the strting (:

  • Love the characters, artwork and story. Thk you.

  • Great game, Great story. Nothing but love for it!

  • this brought tears of joy and memories

    thank you :P

  • where i can find english version of it?

  • On Sony Playstation.

  • The Sega Saturn intro was in Jap? PSX versoin of both were awesome

  • It was only released in Japan for Saturn.

  • i never knew this was originally on the saturn i played it on ps1 and loved it was one of the best rpgs i played in a long time back in 1999

  • This is great. Though now you should do the sequel... kidding.

I think the dubbing was a mixed bag, a lot of the voices were better, but some of the female voices were a bit squeaky in japanese.

  • can u please subtitle this in english

  • They ported it to the GBA I believe as well did they not? Under the title Lunar Legends.

  • The GBA version recycles some of the cinema art and the graphics are inspired by the Saturn version, but its a totally new game.

  • Blah, Luna sounds too 'genki desu wa!' in Japanese o.O

  • i think this is the japanesse version of lunar sssc, luna didn't go with him on the boat in the saturn version

  • This is the Saturn version. Luna didn't go with him on the boat in the Sega-CD version.

  • Royce's voice fit better in the English version, but Luna's voice fits her more in this version..

  • This is the best game ever created. *cult eyes*

  • i think this game is better than Final Fantasy in everything.

  • sniff...sniff....Why? Why did nobody play this game??

  • I did... =) on the PS1 that is...

  • LOVE IT

  • Hey,

Is this the MPEG version that needs the special card plugged into the saturn's expansion slot? I always wondered if that was worth the $40 I see it for.

    VJ

  • No its not, if it was it would say complete on the bottom when the title appears.

  • *shudder* Japanese anime women are always shrieky and shrill.

  • Luna's voice in Japanese is so much better. The character is captured with a softer voice. Kyle's voice was better too.

  • I don't know about the rest of you, but this is the very, very rare case where I say I like the english dubs waaaay better. >_< The Japanese voices just sound awful.

  • Weird that you say that. I was thinking the same thing. It just seems like the English fits better with the characters.

It could just be that I'm use to hearing it in English for the last.. six-seven years now? I can't remember when I got it. - On second thought Nash sounds pretty cute in Japanese. =P

  • Hmm... now all it needs is subtitles- then again I pretty much know this game's scripts off by heart (holds special place in my heart as being the first RPG I ever beat)

  • the gba version of this game sucks.... i wish i hade the first my dad got my the secong when i was like 6 and i was like adicted to it it was so fun. then when i was ten i got the gba version of this game... i really wish i had the first for the sega

  • In other words, the order for the first Lunar goes:

LSS Mega-CD, LSS Sega-CD, LSSS JP Saturn, LSSSC JP Saturn, LSSSC JP Playstation, LSSSC N.A. Playstation.

There was also a Lunar game made for Game Gear called Lunar Magic School. It was also remade for Saturn, but never received a Playstation port.

  • Working Designs brought the Playstation game to North America. Some people don't appreciate some of WD's voice work and/or style of translation. But either way, most Lunar fans either prefer or appreciate the original japanese voice acting.

The sequal to Lunar, which was also originally on Sega/Mega-CD, was remade for the japanese Sega Saturn as well. This game was also later ported to Playstation and then localized by Working Designs.

  • I appreciate WD's dubbing, it made the game highly amusing and fun

  • The PS1 got a port of the second Saturn version, Lunar The Silver Star Story Complete. It has some majorly downgraded in-game graphics, particularly the fights, long + frequent(extra)load times and fmv quality that most people would probably consider to be somewhere inbetween the 2 Saturn versions. It also had to be moved onto 2 discs, because of the size of the Jpeg fmv.

  • "Lunar The Silver Star" was made for Mega-CD(Japan) and Sega-CD.

The game was totally remade for the Sega Saturn in Japan as "Lunar The Silver Star Story". That's where these cinemas are from.

Later, Game Arts release an MPEG version which featured a few new items and extra mini-quests all with higher quality fmv. This was called "Lunar The Silver Star Story Complete".

  • I dont understand... this video was showed for the 1st time... for Sega or for PS1??? O_o Im very confused...

  • theres a fuckin cat that speaks japanese

the intro song sounds beautiful in that language

it sounds like poo in english

    poo!

  • exactly

  • God damnit. Now I wanna play again. I wanted to never play the game again (I played it a LOT years ago). Thanks. A lot. :(

  • You're very welcome.

  • Awesome! Working Desings did a great job, but....japanese dub is better.

  • Yeah, it's too bad they couldn't had added a subtitle Japanese option.

Even if they had, I still prefer the Saturn version because of the graphics and quick saving/loading.

  • again, this shows why dubbing should be illegal.

  • so true, dubbing makes everything extreamly gay, they should just put in subtitles, that way the laguage and sound stays perfect.

  • Spoken like a true weabo

  • Wow I love you for posting this I missed this game so much lol *tear* xD
