We had German, Austrian, and Canadian friends who served in their respective countries forces as friends. My parents lost friends during the war but didn't loose their perspective. The 262 was in fact ready to go as a fighter, but Hitler decided to develop it as a fighter-bomber, which delayed having adequate numbers of them at the front before it was too late.
The early Jumo jet engines were sluggish to respond, so Allied pilots soon learned to loiter around 262 airfields and pounce on them when they were slow in the takeoff / landing and donkey punch them when the Germans were helpless to fight or escape.

That is impossible, the Messerschmitt Me 262 had numerous design flaws that would have required a complete redesign of the plane if it were to be suitable for active duty. Not to mention, an edge in plane vs. plane combat would not have given germany the advantage it really needed. The Horten line was much more promising as it negated Britain's radar defense and could have potentially made them vulnerable to heavy bombing.
Me 262 was better than all the allied planes combined. It has flaws yes but it was better. I don"t understand how come you brits and russians think that USSR and Britain were some how invincible and that germans had no chance defeating them.

One of the problems that comes along with your argument is that Hitler did see the ME262 as a super-weapon. So much so that he ordered ALL other aircraft besides the Focke-Wulf FW190 to have production cancelled, and the ME262 and Focke-Wulf to be the only Fighter-Aircraft produced. Hitler's problem, though, and fatal mistake, was that he wanted it to be a "Blitz-Bomber" instead of the fighter it should have been....

@Maverick110290 It was a marvelous plane, no doubt about that, but if you look up the specs of the latest allied planes, they where also quite fast with their propeller motors. The speed difference was about 730km/h for the fastest allied fighters against (theoretically) 900 for the ME262. That's fast, but not like a lighting bolt. But i think the allied pilots where more scared if they knew what was coming for them.
The Germans where the most brilliant engineers of the war anyway. :D

Furthermore it is important to remember that the first operational jet fighter group was the RAF with the Gloucester Meteor, followed by the Luftwaffe with the Me 262 and then the USAF with the Shooting Star.

Guyisaritelegend, you have no idea what you're talking about. About 1/2 of all German "military" deaths occured while they were prisoners of the Soviets. Also, Winter killed a lot of the Germans, not the Soviets. The Soviets spent a lot of time shooting their own soldiers if they retreated in battle as well. Nice. Europe was the main objective. However, the Soviets played a far greater role in the defeat of Germany than the USA and England combined. They lost over 20 Million people and I seriously doubt that either the USA or England would have the stomach for those type of loses before either would have sued for peace. The Allies unleashed more explosive force on the city of Dresden by conventional means than either of the bombs dropped on Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Also, those were the only two bombs that the USA had at the time. If the war had lasted into 1946, the Germans may well have developed their own which would have complicated things quite a bit. Not to mention using such a weapon in close proximity to friendly forces; a consideration both sides would have had to contend with.

Japan would never have won their industrial capabilities were nothing compared to that of the US. For every 1 ship the Japanese made the US built 10, they would have lost no matter what happened.
After they lost a lot of Russians, Poles and Jews were killed anyway. Stalin was pretty much responsible for over 20 million people dying.
Japan and Germany were allied, if one had won it would have probably meant the other either winning or getting a negotiated peace where they kept some gains.
The plans Hitler's leadership had for the east were pretty well laid out. Stalin probably killed more of his own people that the Germans did, true. He had a lot more time to so so, 1920s-1950s.
However, it is likely Eastern Europe would have been worse off with Hitler. The Nazis considered Slavs to not be fully human.
No it wouldn't have made a difference they were too far apart for either to help each other. Its not like today where you can deploy military forces anywhere in the world in less than a day back then it took months of travel. Not to mention most of the fighting was done at sea and Germany didn't really focus on its naval power.

Dear sir. I am a 62 brit raised in canada. My dad served in the REME and mum worked for Marconi's. We had German, Austrian, and Canadian friends who served in their respective countries forces as friends. My parents lost friends during the war but didn't loose their perspective. Everyone lost something in the war. Remembering doesn't mean hate or glorifying.We had the marches and music from both sides growing up. My parents chuckled over Bomben Auf England. We won but don't gloat!!

Stupid Hitler didn´t see that ME262 was the "wunderwaffen" that they had been searching for.
Propeller fighters had absolutely no chance against jetfighter.
Speed, distance and not to mention fear factor. I bet the first allied pilots to see ME262 were pretty stunned :D jetfighter outruns propeller fighter like a bolt of lightning at full speed.
Allied pilot: "What the fuck was that!?" xD
With more development it could have become standard luftwaffe fighter by 1944.

A prop like the Me109 needed 30 minutes to get there from take of.
The Me163 "commet" rocketplain did it in even less, 2 minutes !!!

@dutchforces Oh aye, there's no doubting that the Komet could reach a B-17 formation quickly. However wasn't the 163's fuel mixture a cause for concern? Also when the 163's fuel ran out it was vulnerable to the escort fighters as it had to glide back down to earth. I'd take my chances in a 262.

The 262 was in fact ready to go as a fighter, but Hitler decided to develop it as a fighter-bomber, which delayed having adequate numbers of them at the front before it was too late.
The early Jumo jet engines were sluggish to respond, so Allied pilots soon learned to loiter around 262 airfields and pounce on them when they were slow in the takeoff / landing and donkey punch them when the Germans were helpless to fight or escape.

That is impossible, the Messerschmitt Me 262 had numerous design flaws that would have required a complete redesign of the plane if it were to be suitable for active duty. Not to mention, an edge in plane vs. plane combat would not have given germany the advantage it really needed. The Horten line was much more promising as it negated Britain's radar defense and could have potentially made them vulnerable to heavy bombing.

One of the problems that comes along with your argument is that Hitler did see the ME262 as a super-weapon. So much so that he ordered ALL other aircraft besides the Focke-Wulf FW190 to have production cancelled, and the ME262 and Focke-Wulf to be the only Fighter-Aircraft produced. Hitler's problem, though, and fatal mistake, was that he wanted it to be a "Blitz-Bomber" instead of the fighter it should have been....

@Maverick110290 It was a marvelous plane, no doubt about that, but if you look up the specs of the latest allied planes, they where also quite fast with their propeller motors. The speed difference was about 730km/h for the fastest allied fighters against (theoretically) 900 for the ME262. That's fast, but not like a lighting bolt. But i think the allied pilots where more scared if they knew what was coming for them.
The Germans where the most brilliant engineers of the war anyway. :D

mind that those pilots werent rookies,germans picked a lot of aces for flying me262.this shows how much difference between prop plane and jet even for combat aces(not usa aces like 8 or 20 kills....real aces hehe)

Furthermore it is important to remember that the first operational jet fighter group was the RAF with the Gloucester Meteor, followed by the Luftwaffe with the Me 262 and then the USAF with the Shooting Star.

What happened to german cities was a consequence of what luftwaffe and wehrmacht have done to other countries. luftwaffe has brought nothing but destruction and tragedy to Europe.

On 25 September 1939 Luftwaffe flew 1,150 sorties dropping 560 tons of high explosives and 72 tons of incendiaries over Warsaw killing more than 40,000 civilians. They bombed Rotterdam killing over 1000 civilians. Luftwaffe bombed London, Southampton, Brighton, Birmingham and Bristol, killing more than 22,000 civilians in three months, nothing to be proud of.

Guyisaritelegend, you have no idea what you're talking about. About 1/2 of all German "military" deaths occured while they were prisoners of the Soviets. Also, Winter killed a lot of the Germans, not the Soviets. The Soviets spent a lot of time shooting their own soldiers if they retreated in battle as well. Nice. Your verry wrong. The Russians and British were battling the germans for much longer then the US who came in the war in Europe very late. Russia did do the most work.
With the soldiers of the easternfront on the westernfront the allied would have a very big 95% chance of failure.
The US did not play THE main role in ww2... just A role at the side of the allies.

Britan had been in it from the beginning but Germany attacked the USSR only 6 months before Pearl Harbor. You are quite correct that the USSR played the main role in the land war. There is no disputing this. I seriously doubt that either the USA or Britain would have been able to stomach the number of casualties that the USSR took.
Of course, the USA was fighting Japan at the same time. While we only played "a role" in Europe; we played "the main role" in Asia.

The USA only suffered about 150 thousand casulaties in WWII. That is remarkable considering that countless of battles have seen that many Germans die in a months time!

Europe was the main objective. However, the Soviets played a far greater role in the defeat of Germany than the USA and England combined. They lost over 20 Million people and I seriously doubt that either the USA or England would have the stomach for those type of loses before either would have sued for peace. Also, you can't seriously compare the battles fought on the Western Front with those of Stalingrad and Kursk. You are familiar with these; aren't you?

The Soviet Union had a role in the beginning of the war too.
In 1939, both Germany and the Soviet Union were on the march.
Too often it is selectively overlooked or forgotten that the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany together took Poland .. starting WWII.
The Soviet Union was the enemy in 1939 and had a policy of winning by attrition as late as the Battle of Berlin.
Stalin didn't care about casualities, why should we?
Red Army had it's own hit squads killing deserters and retreating soldiers.

If Germany had won the war? It would have been like it was in Europe. But, at a much larger scale. Concentration and Death camps throughout the world. Many innocent people would be tried for things they didn't do. Funny how so many of these ,"the world needs a Nazi run world are from those who were born after the Berlin wall fell!

I don't think it would be like that... war would have never stoped, because US has enourmes resources and population... Germany is just smaller and less population.
But still germany, as small as they are compaired to US, entire EU and USSR, they ownd them very well in the war.

More like the USA would've nuked German cities one after another. This would've made the two nukings of Japan seem like a drop in the bucket. Had WWII in Europe lasted into 1946 this would've most likely been a real possibility, sadly. Like all says, war has no boundaries!

The Allies unleashed more explosive force on the city of Dresden by conventional means than either of the bombs dropped on Hiroshima or Nagasaki. Also, those were the only two bombs that the USA had at the time. If the war had lasted into 1946, the Germans may well have developed their own which would have complicated things quite a bit. Not to mention using such a weapon in close proximity to friendly forces; a consideration both sides would have had to contend with.

Germany shouldn't have messed with Russia. If they kicked the buts of Western Europe first then went after Russia they would have had a better chance of winning.

Yeah that was a bad move. If he concentrated on the west first and didn't have to deal with the Soviets they might have even repelled the US invasion or the US might have never have invaded since it would almost be impossible to win if even if they did.

True, but if they had already conquered western Europe by then it wouldn't have been that big of a problem and the US would just have focused on Japan rather than going to help out in Europe.

Well Germany was one of the most advanced nations in the world even more so than the US so pretty good I'm guessing. There are actually a lot of books out about what if they won but most of them are mostly just bias and just anti Nazi rants.

Japan would never have won their industrial capabilities were nothing compared to that of the US. For every 1 ship the Japanese made the US built 10, they would have lost no matter what happened.
After they lost a lot of Russians, Poles and Jews were killed anyway. Stalin was pretty much responsible for over 20 million people dying.

Japan and Germany were allied, if one had won it would have probably meant the other either winning or getting a negotiated peace where they kept some gains.
The plans Hitler's leadership had for the east were pretty well laid out. Stalin probably killed more of his own people that the Germans did, true. He had a lot more time to so so, 1920s-1950s.
However, it is likely Eastern Europe would have been worse off with Hitler. The Nazis considered Slavs to not be fully human.

No it wouldn't have made a difference they were too far apart for either to help each other. Its not like today where you can deploy military forces anywhere in the world in less than a day back then it took months of travel. Not to mention most of the fighting was done at sea and Germany didn't really focus on its naval power.
It could have been worse or it could have not. We will never know we do know however that with the fall of Hitler they just traded in one tyrant for another.
