no tht happens after a period of time man just connect it to the pc and install nokia ovi suit when u connect ur device and all just go software updates at the end and ull find an option where it says reinstall software and it will fix up ur device man (Y)

after the latest software updation, i can't play any mpeg videos. "video format not supported" message coming,in spite of video conversion by pc suite. is it a new bug? i searchd other support sites. same problem with others also.

I feel your pain, had exactly the same with my N97.

Lag, errors, crashes, blank screens, "please restart your phone" msgs...on a daily basis. Even after the 'fabled software update' to fix all the problems.

In the end I bought an iPhone 3GS and won't ever consider a Nokia again now - they should be embarassed they released this trash.

cool video-worst phone i ever had-been back twice for the camera lens scratch issue, screen freeze and not repsonsive, soft unlock failure, when charger disconnected it still shows charging, and now been back for no gps signal for 3 repairs. Still they dont swap or update it. I now have problem where after pcsuite update it keeps disconnecting my phone. even as latest firmware too, soft and hard reset does not work also :?(

i had that messenger installed and gave me problems, once i turned it off it didn`t want to turn on past the Nokia logo, had to do a hard reset

Reinstalled everything, same thing, had to do it for a third time

Then decided NOT to install that MSN messenger again and now works just fine, like before.

Nokia finally admitted the N97 was a total disaster, their video admission is on youtube. Sadly, the worst phone I have ever had and I have had the N96, N95, E90, N73, 7650 etc all Nokias for over 10 years. This pile of crap crashes most days and then needs a hard reset to work again. Now trying to get my money back as its not fit for purpose as described (sale of goods act 1979) . Shame really as the spec is brilliant, just let dwon by dodgy BIOS and build quality

FYI the N97 has an old GPS chipset, the Samsung Omnia has a far newer chipset that aquires satellites faster and in many cases when the N97 cant find anything. My real beef with the N97 is the pathetic 128mb of ram that is even less then the N95 8G. I already run out of ram on my N95 8G all the time and have to start shutting apps down, knowing I will have a bigger problem on the N97 turned me right off.

Mine has been full of faults from the first day I got it... and looking at the forums online I am not the only one.. it is simply full of Firmware faults, Voda are well aware of the problem, after getting on to faults - says a lot when Orange refuse to stock it, due to firmware issues.

I'm on three, and they're actually very good. I don't know what the hell W35t51d369 is on about - Vodafone are rediculousley expensive and do shit/no deals, and T-Mobile have the worst UK coverage of any network other than Virgin... a bit more reasonably priced, though...

The only thing that sucks is that you can never speak to an English person on any of the customer service lines.

However...

The phone does look like a shit load of problems neatly packaged in sleek black plastic... AVOID.

I also got both my handsets with fully charged batteries + the phone automatically starts charging through the usb so dont have much choice ? it only gives me 1 warning before going dead & very poor phone 3G told to me that they have been facing problems with the phone but have not called me back yet so for now ive gone back to using my old N95 :-(

there are always problems with the Sybian OS, but as its new they will fix the bugs in updates, if your phones slow its usually because you charge it to often it says in the manual to charge it when it tells you to, I used to charge my N96 loads and it slowed it down fully
