Listen to him and listen to Bruce Lee. Two very different men, but both were very spiritual in their own way. Not too many fighters see themselves as humans.
@kcborg Indeed. There was much more than fighting in those two men. You can even listen to Steve Irwin and feel the same thing from him. All of these people, died too young. I wanted to meet Steve Irwin since I was a kid. Bruce Lee would be 70 years old around this time.
Of all the men who ever walked this earth, evans the one guy i wish i could have hung out with and learned from. idk what it is, he just has a vibe that im drawn to. my dreams to fight in the ufc one day, beard grown...walkin out to along the watchtower, beating my opponent and reminding everyone to beleive in the power of one
A shame that he died so young. He seemed to be a really cool guy, a bit of a warrior philosopher. Ironically though his death at age 37 demonstrates that there are a lot of things in the world that can kill you for which martial arts skills offer no defense: car crashes, cancer, being hit by falling objects, bullets, industrial accidents, snake bite, attack from wild animals, or even just a walk in the desert when its 114 degrees out. And even if you know the risks you might still die.
pretty sad that he is still one of the most underrated fighters even though he did so much for this sport in the beginning. more people know douchebag's like frank mir and brock lesnar than they do tanner and thats a damn shame. r.i.p one of the greats in the sport
This guy understands what it means to truly hold a belt, unlike douchebags like Lesnar. Im glad individuals like Evan are put on this earth, for whatever time it may be. They define what true champions are.
Tanner and Eddie Vedder would have made great friend's. Very humble and a little awkward. Not to mention my fav. fighter and musician. We need more people to see life for what its suppose to be! I'll see you one day Bro. R.I.P. till then!
Seems like a deep guy..I understand he had struggles with alcohol/drugs..It's hard to believe an athlete of that caliber could drink the way he did,and in 1 month get in shape to fight for a title..amazing life..
I had the pleasure and privilege of coaching Evan at the Maverick Boys and Girls Club in Amarillo,Tx....Years later, after I became a correctional officer,he showed me how to apply a more effective wrist -lock, which I ended up using on an offender in a fracas. Student and teacher himself, never afraid to learn all he could. Godbless to him and his family. This world is not a better place without him, but I know he went on to a better world.
Thanks for comments, Im not the star-struck type...But he is one person I would have wanted to meet in person. His struggles with life and his ability to make it so public, made him an accountable man.
this will live on forever and may you enjoy the next adventure in life.... too bad you can't write about that next life.... god bless and god speed....
He reminds me of of Matt Horwich. Hes Unique

I'm sure you already know, but its going to come at a great cost, with plenty of sacrifice and alot of money gone.
But keep your head up, and train hard.

I love this man. My EX always said the opposite, what matters the most is the change we can make for people. I wish I would have met him.
