What I loved most about this film other than two of my favorite actors was that it showed the beauty of downtown los angeles. As a person who was born and raised in Los Angeles, I couldn't appreciate it more. I recognized every little thing and it just made it for me <3

But they are so wrong, not just cuz I'm from here, but LA is a wonderful city that takes exploring to discover the good stuff. Its not all what people see on tv, its actually a cool place, and Sunset blvd is so overrated. I noticed the different portrayal of the city, too. In fact, I was so unaccustomed to LA being portrayed without irony that at first I thought it was supposed to be in another city. When I recommended this movie to a friend who lives down there, I even said that it's strange that LA is portrayed as a real city. The color palette is different than usual, too- instead of orange, brown, and hazy, it's bluish, seemingly overcast and solemn all the time, almost skip bleached. San Francisco Summer;)

Holy crap I watched this movie last night. Its one of those films that hit me! Those films that you say to yourself after watching it, "Why did I not see this before". I live in the greater L.A. area but I visit downtown at least twice a month, at least. Anyways, the film is sappy (not in a demeaning or belittling way) sappy is a compound word meaning sad and happy. Watch it youll see what I mean.

@ilovepanslabyrinth Emotional binding certainly is what I feel movies should offer the audience. I had a elongated discussion with a friend right after the film ended. I stood the ground that Zooey's character was cold and heartless (regardless that she gets married. That only proved further her character is selfish and cold) and Joseph's character was duped into falling further for her. My friend felt Joe was pathetic and Zoey was reality embodied. My friend was not my fav person after that. :/

Very interesting, yeah I prefer a film to bring me in emotionally than just entertain me. Fortunately I've found myself a girl who I feel super lucky to be with, and I'm finally realising what its like to be in love....i guess it could lead to knowing what it's like to get my heart broken. But it is wonderful, just like this movie (saw it twice at the cinema)

I've been a fan of Joseph G.L. since 3rd Rock from the Sun but reinvigorated my interest in his body of work since "Brick" and Zooey is a very talented woman indeed. However I cant claim to have seen her in much. Maybe except "The Happening" which is a terrible movie BTW but likely not her fault. :)

ugh, SO TRUE! i'm a Los Angelena, born and raised. it can be kind of frustrating when people think L.A. is just Hollywood and Beverly Hills, and talk bad about it, when actually that's a very small fraction of my city. but those places are what's mostly portrayed in media. now, i used to work in the Hollywood area, and i love shopping around Beverly Hills as much as the next girl, but there is SO MUCH more to Los Angeles. it is a real city, not just a stereotypical lala land.

I, being someone from Mississippi and not having gone to either NYC or LA thought the whole movie took place in NYC. (I know nothing about buildings so no Landmarks tipped me off) I think the main reason I thought this was Tom's clothes. He's most of the time wearing a sweater vest or blazer and to me that says cold which makes me think NYC. But I think it's cool to see LA this different.
