And the player who touched the ball probably thought the ball went out of bounds. (hence why she rolled the ball toward the goalie after touching it thinking it was out of bounds).

The Germans use mass attack tactics (like 4-4-2 and large versions of the 4-2-3-1, which actually work like a 4-4-2 again) and what you call counterattacks in this case is just long, high passes, straight from the defenders to the attackers. I refuse to call that a counterattack. As for the jabulani, I also knew they trained with it earlier than the other teams. What they did was 100% unfair. FIFA shall ban them for like 20 years.

It could be by the pace from the players, long balls, quick short passes, direct balls and so on. Germany do exactly that which is counter attacking and do it well. If a player is 1on1 with an attacker, what will the defender do, press or contain the attacker? Theyd contain, and why? Technique and pace.

With that being said, its harder to break down as opposed to other formations without DM. Well there are different variations of DM like deep lying playmaker or anchor man/women but as long as they sit infront of defenders, it makes them harder to break down.

pretty obvious here: The ref had to talk to the lines woman to clarify that the ball did not go out of bounds after rebounding offt the crossbar. And the player who touched the ball probably thought the ball went out of bounds. (hence why she rolled the ball toward the goalie after touching it thinking it was out of bounds).

I am a defensive midfielder, some women have dribbled me with total success, but no man has done that, although many have tried multiple times. This is a fact, not my opinion. @jayc342009 No, we are better at football and I am telling you this from personal experience. No matter how many matches I 've played, we always beat men hands down, with 3-0 at least. They don't even make it to our penalty area, although they use the most attacking form of the 4-4-2 in line and the 4-3-3 with no defensive midfielders! All they do is just cross high and aim for heads. How will they attack like that? But yeah, men suck at technique. They can't play with low passes.

Brazilians are just better than most other men, still they are no match for us. I see them in the Champions' League, I 'm not blind. Arsenal try to play it down but usually they screw it up and start hoofing it, as if they were Stoke. And Barcelona face really crappy teams most of the time. Last time they faced a proper team (Rubin Kazan two years before), Barcelona lost 1-2 hands down.

The Germans use mass attack tactics (like 4-4-2 and large versions of the 4-2-3-1, which actually work like a 4-4-2 again) and what you call counterattacks in this case is just long, high passes, straight from the defenders to the attackers. I refuse to call that a counterattack. As for the jabulani, I also knew they trained with it earlier than the other teams. What they did was 100% unfair. FIFA shall ban them for like 20 years.

It could be by the pace from the players, long balls, quick short passes, direct balls and so on. Germany do exactly that which is counter attacking and do it well. As for the jabulani, it was slightly unfair, but its not worth a ban. Any good team should be able to adapt - like Uruguay or Netherlands.

Long balls are a means of mass attack that I refuse to call "counterattacking". Now if you want to consider long balls as a way to counterattack, do it, but at least keep in mind that a pro disagrees with you. Long balls are easily cut if you have a pair of dignified central defenders (not necessarily top-class ones)...

Take Alonso, Hamann, Molby, Souness as an example and their passing have been used efficiently. Defensive pressure would result in gaps in the defence. Thats why theres CM to drop back. If a player is 1on1 with an attacker, what will the defender do, press or contain the attacker? Theyd contain, and why? Technique and pace.

A cross takes a lot of technique in order to be done right, but most goals from crosses are just luck, not skill. Long balls are effective only when the opposing team has no defensive skills. Defensive pressure has to be applied by the defensive midfielders, so that the defenders can cover them. This way there will be no gaps. But men want defensive midfielders to act like attacking midfielders...

A DM that doesnt provide attack would pretty much play the role of a defender wouldnt it? Not all teams adopts the "modern" approach. Also, long balls are effective against narrow teams, which helps open up gaps. And most goals scored from crosses are luck is invalid. Why do teams practice set plays? It takes precision and timing.

If not, I 'm afraid I 'm talking with someone irrelevant with the sport... I am a DM, so I know the position from inside. We are responsible for applying pressure on opposing AM, so as to make them miss their passing target and let our defenders or goalie collect the ball. As for set plays, most of the times they don't work, so they are a bit pointless.

Note that many women's teams use CM instead of AM...

With that being said, its harder to break down as opposed to other formations without DM. Now as for deep-lying playmakers, that's extremely rare in women's football. We often use CM as playmakers, as most AM are not so good at defending, and trust me, that's a big problem when you play at the highest levels.

@mostwantd1 Strikers do have to apply defensive pressure indeed. That's a must-have feature on all top-level female strikers. If a striker can't defend in some way, she is considered as one player down. We tend to use CM instead of AM for the same reason. AM aren't that good at defending, but CM just have to be, so when the team defends, it defends as a whole. Nobody wants to concede the first goal, things get tough after that!

Xavi isn't a better player than most male central midfielders. All he does is hoof the ball for some random head. He rarely plays it down. @TheHellfireQueen FYI i used to be (179 cm and 59 kg) and a year ago I was 78 kg, but with some issues with my colon I lost 10 kg. And the queen said it's Impossible. You must be genius too. BTW Before 3 weeks ago I did a bodycheck before joining my new gym and the results came as this (age 25 , Height 181 cm, weight 68 kg : The normal range of weight between 61.5 - 83.0) So, please don't use the word impossible if you think you're more complete player than (The FIFA player of the Year). @meshary5 Oh really tell me, when did you see Messi pull off a proper defensive move? Once a player can't defend, he/she is not complete. A complete player can do EVERYTHING. Messi can only dribble, cross high and score. (Well, most of the times he messes his dribbles up, but the defenders aren't good enough to take advantage of those moments... Put him against a properly trained woman and he 'll do nothing.)

@jayc342009 That's what you want to believe, but my real life experience proves that men can't keep up with us. And as for record books, they are about the olympic games, the kingdom of doping. And, as doping gives men much more temporary strength advantage, it covers women's talent advantage and so men appear to be faster, stronger etc. Thing is, doping ruins technical skills, and what's more, men suck at technique anyway. So stop moaning and accept reality as it is.
