  • @krystan: servers...well, imagine a party. You've got the person hosting everything, and all the guests. In websites and online games, the servers are the "hosts" and all the people connecting are the "guests", so to speak.

  • Idiots... This is a Darn high spec server meant for data centres. Awesome boot. I'm going to partition mine. It's not a PC...

  • E AINDA FALA QUE O MEU QUE É DE VAGAR PRA LIGAR SO DEMORA 10 SEGUNDOS

  • Sorry but whats a server PC?

  • How much did the t105 costs for you ?

  • It's a server startup!

I wish your garbage PC sound like that!

  • you're an idiot

  • I have the Poweredge T100 quad-core with 8GB RAM running SBS 2008. It is a really quick beast, and is really quiet after the initial boot. Mine takes longer to post due to the RAID on the system, which slows the post down by around 30 seconds. Well worth the money!

  • If I would get this:

AMD Opteron dual core 1210 1,8ghz

    4gb 667mhz GEIL RAM

    ASUS AM2+ GF8200 VGA DDR2 SATA2 GLAN 8CH

graphics card: intergrated on the motherboard

    2x500gb Samsung 7200rpm SATA

would it make a decent server for storage and gameserver(meaning running one or more gameservers , like two CS 1.6 servers)

  • You can buy a Dell Poweredge T105 starting at $309 from their website. I have been looking into this for the same reason. Buy the base system and get the upgrades from newegg :D saves you alot of cash. Although I think Ill save and get a T605 with dual shanghai 2.3 quads. As for that system it sounds like that would do just fine for 2 1.6 servers. If you wanted to run them at 100tic I would say get like a 2.3 or better.

  • Hey im wondering almost the same thing im buying a Dell PowerEdge SC440 server DUAL CORE 2.0 GHz. How would this be for running game servers??

  • Is that the fan, or a leafblower?

  • It only makes noise for the first few seconds during boot, after that it goes completely silent.

  • Booting starts at 27 seconds in the video and ends when "Press CTRL+ALT+DEL" is shown at 1:18. 51 seconds to boot is pretty good for a $300 server.

  • 51 seconds isn't bad for just a regular ole' 250GB hard drive. Server 08 is a very advanced OS. Seems like it wouldn't boot all that much slower than XP. I'll bet the memory usage is a lot higher though.
