@Tubeboy732 no, it is a diesel. You can start one with no preheating if you crank it hard enough. The only way to achieve that is via compressed air start.
that engine is a YV Fairbanks Morse, That makes it a semi-diesel. It has around 100 psi compression and less than a 1000 psi injection pressure. There is no way that engine well start cold without preheating. Fairbanks Morse did not start making a true diesel "cold start" until some time in the early 30's, with the YVA's and 32 series of engines.

It is a 2-stroke Diesel. The head is heated with a torch before starting.
