  • Besides Neil.....the best cover of this tune I have ever heard....outstanding job!!!!!!!

  • i love this cover, and that split second at about 1:50 where u look at the camera without missing a beat :)

  • Wow

  • Impresssive!

  • You are by far one of the best drummer's I've seen.... You utilize Neil's talent and make it yours with your own taste to it. I like it guy, keep on with what you're doing.

  • meter, meter, meter. Did you have a metronome surgically implanted...lol?? Outstanding job.!!!

  • Very nicely done, very difficult to duplicate the original but you hit it spot on,thank you for sharing with us !!!

  • Hard to perform song, YYZ is. Wonderful job!

  • @deathrib Thank you!

  • muito bomm

  • you are my hero

  • *applause*

  • Eggcellent work sire

  • At 2:56, just before the triple crash, make that snare hit a flam..and I think you'll enjoy it even more. Just a suggestion; not criticizing, complaining or comparing...you totally rock, and I enjoy watching you play. Am looking forward to you posting Tarkus by ELP. Be well and happy.

  • very strong performance.

  • 2:52 to 3:20 is my favorite part of the song... That was so well done my father walked in and asked if i was watching neil peart play!!!

  • Very nicely done!!!

  • I will buy a ticket to hear you jam. Great Job

  • Precision... You're good dude. The best that I have seen so far, aside from the original by Neil Peart. Great job!!! =)

  • amazing!

  • Absolutely Incredible!!!!!

  • just amazing

  • Dude, you are the man. Best Rush cover drummer I've seen. Your timing is impeccable but you still manage to make it your song and not Neil's. Well done!!

  • The thing that puts you miles ahead of the other "big" rush coverers on YT is your impeccable timing. So many of the others, Alain and Paulie for example, may admittedly have better recording setups, but they're no match for your ridiculously strong timing. Don't get me wrong, I love those guys, and I do so wish you could have more of a recording setup, but at the end of the day, AstroTama wins hands down.

  • @InfinityEnterprises Well, maybe, but this is not a competition. I made many friends on YT and I have learned a lot from them. We all have our own way of playing these songs and that's the beauty of it. We just want to pay tribute to Neil's genius. Music is an art, not a sport and this is why I dislike so much shows like "American Idol", etc. Imagine if some day, Picasso, Van Gogh and Monet would have competed on that show and a winner would have been chosen... Makes no sense to me. ;)

  • @Astrotama Excellent point, I never really thought about that.

  • Again A++++++

  • Well, very nice job sir... I have been playing Rush for well over 30 years myself...I cannot believe that they are not in the R&R hall of fame....

    Hello from Rush Country......Toronto, Canada!

  • You make it look so easy, GREAT JOB!

  • Just gotta say that while I've seen all your videos and subscribed to your channel, I'm still continually blown away by your technical precision and flawless Rush covers. Tycho Brahe would be proud.

  • You are the second best Rush drummer ever!!!!!

  • Holy sh*t you just keep getting better! You're still the best I have seen on Youtube.

  • Great!

  • Again, beautiful!

  • doesnt your neighborhood mess with your praticing? I bet they dont because Rush rules! It is impossible to dont enjoy 'em

  • @rodrigorafaelpacheco We bought a house far enough from neighbors... I never play very late.

  • queen or kiss

  • GReat playing, as usual. Really efficient druming!

What about covering some other bands?

    Regards from france!

  • Excellent job, man. Astrotama rules.

  • Wowie very nice cover brother... :)

  • Can U believe ?

  • Excellent job as usual! I really enjoy watching you play. I wanted to know, besides Rush, what other bands do you like?

  • @411sponge Oh gosh, the list goes on forever! Some favorites rock bands: Fates Warning, Porcupine Tree, Genesis, Yes, Saga, Spock's Beard, Dream Theater, Tool, Marillion, IQ, Led Zeppelin, Symphony X, Pink Floyd, Threshold, Gentle Giant, Shadow Gallery, U.K., King Crimson, Queensryche, Ice Age, Peter Gabriel, ELP, Kansas, Magellan, Mastermind, Steam of Passion, Pallas, Mike Oldfield, Tiles, Arena, Ayreon, Pain of Salvation, Uriah Heep, Rocket Scientists, Wakeman, Red Sand, Direction, The Who...

  • This is one of my favorite rush songs! and my neighbor's they also listen to it everyday

  • Amazing job once again, probably one of my favorite Rush songs ever and you nailed it! I have just recently started drumming and I was wondering if you had any advice on what you think is the best way to go about learning songs? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Damn!!! Lol - IF Neil ever decides to retire, you Better send in these Videos as your Resume' dude!!! Excellent job on YYZ; Not an easy RUSH tune... BRAVO !!

  • Wow Astrotama excellent you are starting to play with more conviction. great job.

  • Great job!

  • Bravo Pierre!!! You are tops my friend

  • freakin amazing!!!

  • Even though I don't know how to play drums, it's always a thrill to watch your vids. Keep up the good work bro!

  • nice!

  • I laughed when i read the description; "Even if i played it way too much inte past 30 years, it's still a cool song to play" sounds pretty cool.. Very good job as usual, and glad your still making videos! Regards from Sweden. :)

  • @viddecool Thank you! It is unfortunately true that I have played some songs way too much... I have been in 2 Rush tribute bands in the past (so practicing, practicing,...) plus playing on my own. Some songs I might have played hundreds of times so sometimes I just get tired of them and do not play them for a while. Some have not been done here on YT for that very reason, since I cannot give a good performance if my heart is not really into it. YYZ is not one of them though. ;)

  • Very good!

  • the different angles are cool

  • Fantastic. One of my favourite Rush tunes and the percussion was executed brilliantly.

  • I think you need some John Bonnham, (spelling?) and some Keith Moon soon.

  • Yet another kick ass video. Have you ever thought about doing a Triumph tune or maybe Van Halen on video?

  • I love your drum covers. Can you do a remake of my favorite Rush song of all time La Villa Strangiato, please?

    regards from Chile :)

  • Awesome as always!!! How about getting the digital side of the drum set featured for a video... Maybe some "Mystic Rhythms" or "Red Sector A?"

  • Very well done!

  • Well done! That was really terrific!

  • Excellent job, as usual! The audio and video seem a bit out of sync - can't tell if this is a problem on my browser/audio card or with Youtube or with the recording itself. In any case the sound is fantastic! --ag

  • this is one of my favorite rush songs!i cant play and u can!! :( u r awsome!!!

  • you should have thrown the stick up at 2:48 ;D

  • @DannyWDrums I used to do it when my previous house had a very high ceiling but now I have a lower ceiling and also a fan rotating above me...

  • That looks like alot of work,,,, Great Job Mr. Astro :) and that is in respect of course. thanks for the view, and keep on bangen them skins.

  • I NEED to get rid of my Electronic set. I can do more with an acoustic.

  • Great job Neil, I mean Astro. If you want to see some great live video from the last tour check out youtube user sektaran. He has front row pro type video from about 20 different shows....including European shows.

  • Hey bro you ever think about throwing in a couple Van Halen songs just a thought you have mad drumming & editing skills great job

  • @TheRemedy2012 No, I'm not that big of a fan of VH - sorry - although I totally respect Alex on the drums. Great player and underrated in my opinion.

  • As always great work! Love the dual camera angles…. Also you must have the coolest neighbors ever!

  • Awesome as always. Many thanks for sharing

  • Amazing Job 'P'! Glad to see you back at 100% Thanks for another great video!!!

  • hey astro, another awsome video,

  • Superb drumming. Please do Hemispheres next ;-)

  • So good! 3:57 fav!

  • This was great!, You should do By tor and the snow dog

  • You rock dude! thanks for doin one of my favorites

  • Well done... I particularly like this YYZ better than the Roll the Bones cover. Your Roll the Bones was played well enough, but seemed a bit mechanical. But, I could hear and feel the life in this cover of YYZ, if that makes sense. Anyway, great post!

  • Awesome!

  • Where did you get that Neil Peart poster behind you?

  • @WelcomeWakinyan I bought it on eBay about 10 years ago.

  • Digging the new camera angle. Great stuff as usual!!!

  • Awesome man...I like very match Hush...go go go!!

  • I love the work your doing on your ride cymbal throughout the song. I really enjoyed this cover.

    Thanks for sharing with us.

  • Kick ass as always Astro!!!

  • Once again wonderfull stuff. If you keep playing and and put it on here then i keep watching, simple as that :).

  • Excellent Drum cover !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • 2112 :)

  • Tight as funk! Good job Astrotama. I think I know the fill you mean toward the end of the song, it is a good one - what do you think to the nice fill in Caravan (down and up the toms)? I love it so much I'm bringing my drumkit out of retirement to play it :) You look like you're having fun - good to see you back.

  • Well I was thinking of covering this tune but forget it now LOL. Very good!

  • Nice stuff, as always! YYZ is one of my favorite songs ever! By the way, did you know that when Rush played it here in Brazil in 2002 it was the very first time in the entire Rush career that the audience literally "sang" it along? Take a look at the "Rush in Rio" DVD and will notice that. Neil even pointed this out in the live album tourbook! Brazilians love Rush! From maple syrup to Rush, everything Canadian rocks! ;-)

    Greetings from VIX! ;-)

  • @RFaustini even the canadian army? oh wait.. ;)

  • Wow, I drop by here every so often to enjoy his drumming! I am never disappointed, Neil Peart 2.

  • Your a monster! That's why I subscribed :)

  • Find the video of the isolated drum track of this songs. There's a lot of ghost notes in this song.

  • @AQganon And he was playing them, to. Watch the close-up angle.

  • Well played!

  • Awesome. Do you plan on a remake of Where's My Thing? (Talk about some great fills)

  • OH. MY. GOD. You monster.

  • Fun to watch!

  • YESSSS
