I have an HP G60-445DX notebook and never gave me any problerms. I heard the pavillion line sucks and i saw almost all the youtube videos on it and i think is bad but i dont think HP makes crap. And yeah i think apple is overrated
in the tx2z 1300 the screen does not flex AT ALL it seems to have 2 small brackets next to the shift keys that yours does not have .
also, with the 1300 you can set the portrait tablet view mode in the opposite direction from where you had it so that the exhaust faces the upper left corner and away from your arms and hands.
well if your interested in playing multi touch games and stuff on it its perfect for you and writing why do you need a macbook pro for. The windows7 ones have lots of apps like twitter hulu and games. If you get macbook fine by me but I recommend this if your interested in tablets.
By fall I'm not sure the Windows 7 Tx2's they just updated them gave them a better screen and stuff. I'm not they'll come out wil TX3 by fall since 7 was recently realeased and its probaly going to stay on the Tx2's as long as the Vista ones.
well they vent problem seems simple to avoid and shit I'm a righty well you could just press the rotate button until it faces the other way from the vent and I can make the heat go in some kid's face in school or use it as a warmer if its cold in the room. lol
Im sitting two feet from my tx2z running in balanced mode and I cant hear it. Im running the release Windows 7 Ultimate x86 and it seems to run a bit cooler and more silent. I usually keep if on my beside tablet and night and its really never been noisey unless the CPU is working hard which wont be the case for note taking, running standard office apps, web surfing.
Because this is a capacitive touch screen I don't think that a protector will work. The capacitive touch works via the body's electrical conductivity not the pressure applied.
That said just keep the screen clean. Its very scratch and wear resistant. Once I clean off the screen with a microfiber cloth it still looks brand new after 8 months of daily use. I wouldn't worry about a protector.
i'm deciding on another laptop for college. i'm studying art next year, not this, but i hope to be sketching here and there on this tablet if i get it. my question is, for carrying around this laptop to class, will the background noise of the fan or heat be that big of an annoyance to my classmates during lectures? i was also wondering if this computer takes a short time to boot up too, mine takes a good 2 minutes and is a pain. so, should i look into this comp more, or look to another tablet?
I'm voiding between this and one of the ultralight notebooks from HP. The noise of this tablet notebook is the part that's keeping me from loving it. Is the noise that annoying? Anyone know if it's something that would attract attention at a quiet setting like a library from the annoying noise?
sweet, is there any other flause? like people hacking into your computer, or any other typical vista problems? because, i am trying to convince my parents that the tx2z, is the rite PC laptop, notebook for me.
just install AVG free antivirus and Spybot search and destroy and you should be OK. I work for a school with 50 PCs and have those two installed on the PCs, its been over 2 years without major issues
just get a good fire wall and a good antiviruse set your fire wall if you realy dont want to get a realy sensitive one but i would recomend being smart not clicking popups get a good email address change your passwords often and get a good anti mailware and virus prog i have 3 mcfee, nod and avira

WARNING!!!! dont buy this pc, i bought it 5 days ago and ive had some problems, i had to exchange it 4 times for another one, it overheats even in power saver, orientation button has failed me many times it shuts off when i try to power it up, i dont know what best buy is doing or if its hp fault but i know its not me, i paid $900 for this freakin thing and i had to replace it 4 times. watch videos that rate extended use b4 u buy, im very disappointed hp/bestbuy -_-
Oh, and it would be nice if HP would used a shock detecting hardware like lenovo does in its X61 X200 series of tablets, I mean, that's a cool feature, that allows you to change from portrait to landscape mode just rotating the screen. I want a X61t so bad :'(
I tend yo write a hell of a lot lol, if HP addresses this issues this tablet would be a great product, also, I know they use AMD to keep prices low, I don't have anithing agains AMD, in fact they do great CPU's, my last 2 laptops and my desktop have AMD CPU's on it, the issue is the well known heat generation, I guess one thing for the other, performance vs heat, price vs performance, and all its combinations lol The heat generated in all HP's AMD products is bothersome, and a handycap for users
Thank you for your videos, I must say they're very good =) As for the issues on this tablets I have to say that one of the most anoying things nowadays is the crappy LCD panels used, TN panels are catcrap, period, I'd like to see again a good laptop/tablet using quality FlexView (IPS) panels, even if they are 4:3 what the heck! I guess I'll have to keep dreaming... Another thing, the build quality, although this is a consumer product, they should reinforce the pivot hinge and the wobbling...
you mention something very interesting "this is one of the very early version I ordered, back in november.. so I believe in upcoming version this flaws might be fixed"
well, what I would like to know, is, what kind of version is yours ?
I found a tx2z that goes by the model of 1012us
is this the same of yours, or its a newer version than yours ?
Yes, you can run in a reduced power mode, like balanced or power saver. When on power saver and battery the unit is pretty quite, not dead silent but no louder than any other laptop. It wouldn't be a distraction to anyone even sitting next to you.
Sure you can, that's how you're doing it! I do as well but normally I'm in portrait mode because it just "feels" better most of the time. It's usually just a matter of personal preference.
well when i put my in tablet mode that sound in the same i can bearly listen to it, and it has the same amount of memory that your has and is the same laptop hp tx2z.
Yes and No, maybe for a left handed like me, but for a right handed like the reviewer the heat will be a annoying thing. Trust me, maybe if the tablet would be equiped with a Intel CPU it wouldn't be that an issue, but AMD processors produce a lot of heat, even to make you uncomftable using your laptop in your lap.
The options in the BIOS are limited, I did not see an option for changing the video RAM, not sure how this would help with heat any way.
Turning down performance with power options works very well and helps with the heat a lot.
Still, if HP had simply put the vents on the other side that would have helped tremendously. Blowing the heat towards the user in primary portait mode is just dumb.
My misinformation sorry about that. Its the HP laptops/tablets that use nVidia chipsets that the bios can change MB allocations (dedictated) to teh video chip. Sorry about that. Power options in Vista/Win7/XP (PowerSave, Battery ?) modes can reduce CPU thresholds (speeds) and thus produce less heat; but also performance.
so you rather want a slower machine instead of a little heat exaust?

If you need Photoshop being an art student this may not be the best tablet for you as it won't support pressure sensitivity in Photoshop AFAIK.
