OOOh I'm so happy to see Nate Philips live on stage! One of the greatest funkateers on bass.....together with Mark L. Adams who sadly passed away. Thumbs up for this one!
The guitar is not overdubbed. Jeff Lorber is also playing guitar. They just do not show him close up but you see him at the beginning near his keyboards playing the guitar. They only show Paul Pesco with the close up shots. I agree that the guitar volume is way too high and we can't enjoy the bass as much as we should.
some dingbat overdubbed guitar to this video. it didn't even match what the guitarist was doing on the picture. PP's a much better player than that. Cmon now.....
this shit is so dumb, it's way too fast paced and too much action. i hate when jazz musicians play this "nerd funk." go listen to an earth wind and fire album
Who ever came up with this Victor Wooten...this guy never released any major recording. Nate Phillips, Louis Johnson, Jaco, Mark Adams are the guys to hang out with....surely not Wooten.
Have you ever heard of Bela Fleck and The Flecktones. He has at least 3 or 4 of his own albums and is a multiple Grammy winner with The Flecktones. Mr Wooten is the real deal. No one is the bass world questions that.
Thank goodness! Someone actually posted a video of Nate Phillips playing "Glide". I am so tired of these youngsters thinking Les Claypool originated this song. Hats off to the poster of this video.
Nate's solo CD has now been released. "Reset" is now available at CDbaby.com

Trust ME. Vic is a mother$@#$%& no doubt, but he grew up listening to Nate and Pleasure. That band was maybe the most influential in all of funk.

I saw Nate play with Jeff 2 weeks ago in Seattle.
and it is true he plays the entire spectrum. I had the opportunity to record some of it on Video and the play back was definitely missing something.

I don't think he's too loud, I think the bass should just be louder.
