@chrisedelic77 From Steve's bio, which just happens to be sitting on my desk, "I didn't witness the famous fight" said Joe Brown. "But I do believe Steve chinned him after Ronnie had been less than complimentary about his songwriting." Ian McLagan, who apparently was a witness to the event, refused to comment about it.
This was always an impossible song to mime properly, but it's even stranger to watch them clown around with this 8 or 9 years after the era in which it was recorded. I appreciate this for it's historical significance, but this was a strange moment in the career of a band that is rapidly gaining cult status.
II love the video, but something just doesn't seem right. Not just the lip syncing. When did these four regroup for this? This looks mid to late 70s, I know plonk did not join SF reunion, they had Rick Wills. Maybe it was filmed for reissue?
@philby maybe, but I don't know. It was on one of my fathers old vhs-tapes, an nearly everything was from the sixties. But it might well be, the song was re-released on 13 december 1975.
@philby Their record company re-released the song in '75. Ronnie and Steve agreed to re-form the orignal band to promote this song and Lazy Sunday, which had also been reissued, mainly because they needed the cash. Ronnie was having trouble playing due to the onset of MS symptoms and didn't tell the others. Bottom line, they started fighting straight away and Ron quit not long this was filmed. He was replaced by Rick Wills and the (New) Small Faces carried on for a couple of years and albums.
Pls don't hate on my piddly opinion but to me Marriott was the absolute finest rock/blues musician ever, period. No one could top the raw charisma, crazy grace & genuine love he had for music! He played w/the best cuz he was the best. Even near the end Marriott still played a mean guitar, sang his heart out, performed & wrote great stuff. I miss real musicians like Marriott & Plonk ,just watch Ronnie & Steve interact on this silly lip sync-sorry man but I miss Marriott & Plonk more every day.
dunt like watchin this knowin plonk & marriott didnt get on,u can tell that brotherhood they shared long since fizzled

@philby I'm anything but an expert, i only know that the reunion of The Small Faces was in 1975 and I think Ronnie Lane left during this year.

When was this video made? Obviously not 1967...looks more like mid-70's. How did they manage to pull this off??
