Sorry everyone, i had been a mistake because I knew wrong about this a music information. So far, I was written by mistake to information as for Claudio Monteverdi's piece. This piece was composed by Giovanni Battista Grillo, and therefore i had to revise it
does anyone know if this is the piece that they play in the AMC godfather thanksgiving promo as of late? Supposedly it's either that of Giovanni Battista Grillo's sonata seconda..
im always watching amc movies and they have good tunes, the main one i want 2 find is the FEBRUARY 20th ANNIVERSARY FOR DANCES WITH WOLVES,SILVERADO AND GOODFELLAS COMMERCIAL.
I meant to say that Monteverdi didn't compose this piece. It's Giovanni Battista Grillo's Sonata seconda a 7 (1618). Just in case.
I like the fact Garrido included it as the opening Sinfonia, as well as works by D'India and Cavalli for the missing pieces. As for orchestration, he relied on his excellent continuo players rather than on the inclusion of additional parts (cf. René Jacobs). I highly recommend listening to Garrido's 3-CD set of Ulisse.
@rubaomaturana (Sorry, I deleted my old account.) This piece is on the 3 CD set of Monteverdi's Il Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria on label K617 (or another called Monteverdi: The 3 Operas). Look it up on cd-baroque [dot] com. Yes, it is Gabriel Garrido conducting! In case you don't want the opera, perhaps you can find it in a recording of Grillo's sonatas. But if you like Monteverdi/Garrido then you should grab this excellent album. Cheers.
Monteverdi is great! I'm just recently rediscovering him and his music. The splendor and majesty that was Venice is forever captured in his music. I was born 400 years too late. What can possibly compare to the art and music of that age?
