I think POLO size car is the smallest that should be allowed. smaller than that is crap and trying to scream smart. how smart can you be when you put 4 adults in such small space.
Every review slams the price. But Toyota is the industry leader in price retention and the maintaining of a car value over time. So when you come to sell it in 5-10 years, it's value will be still be surprisingly high.
Today i tried this can and it was great ! Roomy for 2 on the front seat as a much bigger car, quality is top, automatic gearbox is a 7 and the manual has 6 both are great. This car is stock fully loaded with all actual equipment available on modern cars. 1.3 100 PS engine is enough, engine is smooth and powerful. Price is (in Europe) too expensive for small car as it.
Somebody should build a car like this, make it a tiny bit bigger with an auto transmission and an extra front seat between the 2 front seats where the gearstick would normally be, then it would seat 5! they should also develop a diesel hybrid engine for it and hey presto best car ever, but they wont because its probably not "comercially viable" and its not what people want right now! The only reason they dont want it though is because it dusn exist yet, IDIOTS!
It's a great car, but councils use the Smart and IQ to catch motorists for very minor parking offences with a camera through the roof. Just another tax on us.
Fascinating car, but i really don't see it as a fairly decent four seater, well unless you have a child seat in the left hand side. Do give me my Smart any day over this one really.
does anybody knows how much this car costs in US dollars? Im getting scared by people saying it costs "too much" ... I see the iQ a nice little piece of revolution :)
Because that is sensible driving practice, placing you best to deal with any rapid change of direction as quickly as possible. Bothe hands on the wheel features heavily in advanced driver training.
four people would die in a crash with this car the person sitting in the back would break there legs and then there bones would break though the seat killing the driver and passenger LMAO not safe
this viper being driven in video is pre-production 92. black calipers, rear exterior mounted antenna, etc etc. first gen vipers are the truly hardcore jobs. no safety bumpers, no sideguard doorbeams, no airbags, no door handles, no locks, no windows, no abs, no cruise control, no cupholders. curb weight of 3110 lbs, over 400HP at the rear wheels, side exhaust, twin ram-air, the list is long. power, torque, noise and insane performance beyond your wildest dreams. i own a late 95, bought it new
I hateToyota Corporation with a passion But I gotta say, this car is far better looking than the Smart. It has HID headlamps, a nice looking interior, Navigation system and seating for 4. And there's even a Convertible version. Nice.
its full gas. but i did heard about a hybrid possibly. and i believe the hybird version will get about 100 mpg. im not sure if it was this car or some other car.
Comfortably seat 4? have even got inside the IQ? The seat behind the driver is useless. I can't imagine an accident from back of that car. It's up to the balloons to save your life. I doubt it.
Well.. I think its much more than just a small car.. Drive the smart or whatever else in class. This is a VW Golf, packed into a less than 3 meter long car. Take the 1.4 diesel for a ride, and you'll see.
Oh God no! That doesn't justify the price of a new iQ. But 4 grand gets you a respectable used car with A/C, Power steering, airbags and more powerful engine than the Tata Nano.
For Europe the Tata is more of a fashion statement.
The Nano did the same great job as the IQ in crash test. So you can't say it's a lawmower. Airbags are simply balloons, you can't trust your life in a balloon but in the engineering of the car. They are simply another money making scheme for car companies.
i did not say the nano was a lawnmower i said its engine came form a lawnmower. and i take back my comment about it being a death trap i did some research and found out it is safe.
Tata is from India, Toyota is from Japan. As Maltese man that doesn't make any difference!. Tata is not ROVER. Rover is chinese now. Tata is JAG and LR, Tetly, CORUS, TAJ Hotels, TITAN, Oil Rigs, part of Boeing, Part of FIAT and 99 other companies. Tata is bigger than Toyota if don't know.
Tata has many of the same templates of Rover (if you don't know). Tata Group (all subsidiaries) has reported to have a revenue of 62.5 billion US Dollars. Toyota on the other hand: 262.4 billion US Dollars; with a total asset worth of 350 billion US Dollars.
Toyota are the monolith of Western and Far Eastern motoring.
I'm not going to deny the Nano's admitted brilliance (it being the Model T for India) but it is not even liveable by Western standards.
This Car sucks big time. Just look at this fuck! I wouldn't buy if it was with the Nano price tag!. The Tata Nano is much better looking and most defiantly much more worth your money. You are just a fan boy.
If I was a fanboy, would I write this?: "That doesn't justify the price of a new iQ". The Tata Nano is the Model T Ford for India and the Middle East but is a con (yes, I said con little fanboy) for the WESTERN MARKET.
I did some extensive googling after leaving this comment and I have to say that apparently it's true, and it's not even a hybrid .... so there is still potential left! 100 mil/gallon?? LOL
we all are gonna have to consider buying this car when gas prices reach $10/gallon or something
or in big cities where parking space is fucking scarce
I hope it ain't the future of the whole car industry though ...
Don't believe the hybrid hype, they don't work half as good as you would expect given their image.
You can gain all the advantages of a prius-type hybrid without any of the materials, weight, cost, design, increased complexity and internal friction.
MHD (mild or micro hybrid drive) uses stop/go engine management to stop wasting fuel at traffic lights, and the electric system can be powered using captured braking energy instead of being powered directly from the motor.
If they cut back on the paranoid over the top safety features and tried to save some weight, like getting rid of back seats you will never use and the extra foot or so of steel, glass and plastic needed to accomodate them, then there is no reason why they can't build a 100MPG car.
They did it 50 years ago with a single seater, the technology improvements since then should get us the same mileage in a 2 or 4 seat car easily.
Well, I don't think safety features are "paranoid", 40000 people die each year only in US, much more get severe injuries
so we have regulations and minimal safety requirements in place for a reason! you're crazy if you don't care about safety!
hybrids are much more efficient during the acceleration, when simple gas engines suck, so they really improve city mileage (on highway it's a different story)
"extra foot or so of steel"
yep, the future must be safer, lighter/nano/composite materials.
40,000 isn't very many if you are being realistic. You shouldn't be impressed by numbers like that.
About 300,000 people die every single day. Many of them tragically cut short by disease, famine and other accidents in much greater numbers than car crashes. Going along with this shows your ignorance of the world.
a point on safety... where are the air bags in a formula one car? but road cars NEED them? You have fallen for the media hype instead of understanding the real issue.
Dont complain to me about global scale, you are the one who brought the concept of the lives of US motorists somehow being more important than everyone else in the rest of the world.
Nobody starves in the developed world? This couldn't be more wrong. Just because YOUR SMALL MIND can ignore it doesn't mean it doesnt happen, even in the US.
And aren't you lucky you weren't born in the developed world? Imagine having to look after yourself, think and make decisions. My God! It would be too much!
You're a retard. Accidents are a global phenomenon, just like starvation. If you're trying to compare the two numbers, at least use the same populations in both ... it's basic logic, fucking moron!
Maybe you could go to school and learn some stuff before you feel your opinion is worthy of global consumption.
If you have more valid data feel free to use it to support your argument.
I reassert, safety features don't solve the problem.
Most fatalities are from side impact, preventing this will require cars as wide as they are long. Good luck finding a carpark for that vehicle. You have to blame the driver, not the car.
I think you need to learn how to type before you can type trash. "nobody dies from starvation in the developed world....."
OMFG.
Super models die every day from starving themselves! BTW Thats like saying that people that aren't in the "civilized world" don't mean nothin to the human race??
So you don't mean anything to the human race. You don't deserve the computer you use. Give it to the "civilized world" people!
I realize your supporting my view, but using models as your main point isnt very helpful. I was refering to real people that have no choice in their misfortune, not idiots that are so deluded they dont understand people are supposed to eat food.
9 airbags?!?!?! Lets face it, as small as that car is a chunk of nylon is not going to help here in America where people drive massive vehicles. Still safer than a motorcycle. I'd have one, I like it.
In America you can't drive microcars like smart fortwo or this car, because tanks like the Dodge Ram, Hummers, and even Fords, which are HUGE in size are very common over there, and the weight/mass difference between the classes are too great to be neglected.
On the other hand, the European car park is very different from yours, here relatively small cars are very common, and tanks like Dodge Ram for example are almost inexistent.
So it's relatively safe to drive a Smart or IQ here.
This car is poor on the rear legroom and can't really manage four tall strapping adults, for me it would have to be a peugeot 107/citroen c1/toyota aygo 5 door to get this capability.
Fiat 500 is cool, but this is cool too, why knock it, have you tried one? I have and they are brilliant. Toyota even said they liked the Fiat 500, and whilst they respect the competition, they don't fear it... a point proven by having Fiat 500, Mini etc... there too to show. BTW, I like What car?'s magazine comment saying it makes the 'smart look stupid'!!! LOL
The price is high for sycha a small car...u can get an XD for the same price.

Prices start from £9295.
Toyota has stopped calling the iQ a 3+1 and now calls it a four-seater, as few people understand what 3+1 means.

LOL
