I have one of these and i have been trying to figure out how to work the phonograph. it will play in 72 speed, but not in any of the other speeds i have the 1K8869 model. It's very frustrating. if you have any suggestions let me know.
I think the tube sets do indeed preform a lot better. This one is so much better than my Astro-Sonic, I get a lot of hum out of that one, but this one has no hum and gives out a nice clear. crisp, sound!
I have one of those as a 1961 vintage! Very nice sound with deep bass and the sweet treble that only a tube amp can provide. I'd sure like to find a stereo decoder for mine, just to make it complete.

@mistajt2005 You just have to make sure that the turntable is in the off position before you turn the
speed dial. Once you select your speed, and turn on the turntable the speed selector will lock in place.

Keep an eye out on eBay for the demonstration record for the first Astro-Sonic sets, on Command Records. That is a truly beautiful piece you have.
