Great song. I first saw the video when I was about 12 or 13, back when you could turn the TV on at midnight and expect to hear some good, varied, and unusual music. I have never been into vocals that much as a rule, but the way in which this vocalist got his point across then shut up and let the rest of the band convey the mood between verses meant I remember this song long after I have forgotten many, many others I saw at the time.
C'est une super nouvelle, le genre de choses qui foutent du baume au coeur. Sorry for the french, i'm just saying that it's agood new: youth energy doesn't always dies with time. I love this track !!
Have to disagree toddprid. Some of my fave rifles tunes are on their more recent albums. Salute, lazy sunshine, paddo sharps, cold wind (stacks better than anything else out today). What the hell are you talking about. Or dont you have any of their recent stuff?
everything from sideroxylon to blind ear fuchin rocks...thats 5 or so albums without 1 mediocre tune...thats impressive....but sayin that, you can bash everything after that up your arse
Not true. "Most bands were about style and fashion". Most crap commercial bands were about that but there was an amazing alternative world that we reveled in with bands like Connells, Husker Du, Midnight Oil, REM, Feelies.....I could go on and on.
myself saw the CR at the concert they held at the famous roman beach of Capocotta, where the picture for their roman beach party album was taken from..september 1987!! I took a piss with damien and we chatted a bit....
damien were are the guys get back 9in the studioi soccer sux the power of the guitar is more soothing than a couple of dogs chasing the ball need your sound man !!!!!!!!!!
i'v heard they're doing "last shows" soon in Sydney and Newcastle. I won't be there....they are my fave band....just look at Kent's strumming and the drummer is Phil Jacquet, great to watch...although Sideroxylon is my favourite album, this song could be at their peak?
Unbelievable...I, too, saw the Celibate Rifles at the Brewery in 1986/87 (not sure of exact date). Not only did I enjoy a rocking show (for $4, American), but got to talk their ears off after the show. One of the all-time greats!
Excellent, one of Australia's finest. - The living room makes a great set for this - gotta love the strategically placed copy of "Raw Power" on the turntable. Thanks for posting.
I'd watch B-B-B-Beatbox each week, and it was a chance to finally see and hear bands which you read about in RAM and never saw on Countdown. I remember seeing this clip and being more impressed than with some slick music vid production with a million dollar budget.
good to see the boys going off. How long ago was this? 83? And is that the original line with darroch on bass and jaques on drums? I remember the trade union gigs well. thanks for the posting
the guy with the long hair on the guitar - he is my uncle!

The days of real guts and blood Australian bands.A scene that no longer exists, so many top bands with a strong underground following.
What ever happened???Our aussie bands from that period of time would still shit on alot of the crap we hear today. The Celibate Rifles,
We love and miss you.Long live pub rock.
