I can only assume that you did not hear Hawking explain how the universe formed without a god. He himself says that people can believe in what they want, but to him the answer is there is no god, and no heaven or afterlife, which is why he loves life even more. I still stand by Hitchens. I personally don't see a issue with believing in a god, however organized religion is indeed a poison on humankind.

  • @chibicat13

I am a very very scientific person yet i believe in God very strongly

I admit there are a lot of wackjob fundamentalist christians in the world who really do make

Christianity look bad. I am a thinking educated christian strong in apologetics can explain most any issue you may have.

    Strong faith, Love Science. Logical/Rational

  • Christopher Hitchens was an atheist who uses straw mans arguments to refute the existance of God.

A straw mans argument is when you purposely set up an incorrect premise in order to refute it with your intended argument:

    Example:

Atheist says: You christians don't know anything about Science. You think the universe was created in 6 literal days. Don't you know about the Big Bang and Evolution,

Therefore there can't be a god because we know from science the universe was not 6 days

  • @chibicat13

You seem like a really smart girl...Can't believe you fell for this guy

I myself believe in Science, Einstein, Quantum Physics, Stephen Hawking, etc

Science actually points to the existance of God!

(The Big Bang 13.7 Billion years ago was God creating the Universe, etc)

The constants of the Universe are balanced on a razor's edge that if any of them were off

by one part in 10 quadrillion the universe as we know it could not exist!

    Atheism is totally wrong!

  • blah blah blah, he was an interesting guy, but its hard to admire someone who practises self abuse. Why do you clutch your atheist bible? you either believe or you don't simple as that, you're just weak human, you need to be part of a tribe so you choose the atheist tribe, if you're a true atheist you don't need to keep re-affirming that belief unless you are actually scared of being wrong.

  • Hitchens had balls, that's for sure.

  • PS - it was my mom who told me i should never let someone tell me what to believe. I was thankfully not raised in a religious household, and they never pushed either side on us. Then we had to move into one of the biggest church towns in BC: Chilliwack. So oppressive growing up in Jr. and Sr. High School here. And St. John's felt almost exactly the same in that way. At least my ex's parents never pushed it on me nor attempted to make me feel bad about not believing. So i know some are great.

  • (cont'd - sorry, i'm a bit of a rambler online) And funny enough it was Marilyn Manson who opened my eyes that there were others in semi-powerful places - influential places - who felt something was wrong with religion. And that gave me backbone to speak out more. Kinda hard when every friend i was surrounded by was a believer. But i eventually found some fellow outcasts!

  • I never had the chance to read that one, and i never really came across much of his work or speeches (Dawkins, Harris and Onfray were the authors i read), and i could never quite justify spending $20 on a paperback, but i might just bite down on it. And awesome to see another youtube atheist. I have a few videos of my own on the topic.

  • I don't know how any atheist could ever say RIP

-- An atheist does not beleive in an afterlife or any kind of continued existence, to say RIP takes on a spirituality connotation.

He was nothing more than just a living organism that reached the end of its timeline just like everything else- His delivery for things was only for this time and will be forgotten in 100 years after we've all passed.

  • @atheistbob27 RIP is just a polite expression for someone who has died.... I think you are looking way too much into this.

  • @atheistbob27 it's really sad that you're letting your vocabulary be dictated by others.

Trying to excise possibly religious words from your vocabulary is futile.

It does nothing to help anything, and is just masturbation.

  • @unqueued Isn't it important to be logically consistent? It's not allowing others to dictate a vocabulary, it's using words accurately consistent with logic. Using words that logically inconsistent is masturbation and is what doesn't help.

  • It's too bad he passed away, especially from Cancer. RIP.

  • @GameFreak982928 Indeed.

  • I wonder how many dumb Christians will say he died early because he didn't believe in god.

  • @TheCompletionist Hey now: I'm a christian, and I wouldn't say that. That is a dumb thing to say but I don't appreciate being labeled "dumb" just for being a christian.

  • @GameFreak982928 I think what he meant was just as he said... the 'dumb' Christians. There really are stupid.... and I mean REALLY stupid Christians out there.... Sarah Palin, Michele Bachmann, and Christine O'Donnell is a perfect candidate for a mental institution, not to mention George Bush, Jerry Falwell (Thank god he's dead, how ironic) and don't forget that loony bin who claimed the apocalypse would happen in October..... all in the name of Jesus.... those people are fucked.

  • @chibicat13 Lmao, yes I do agree, there are some messed up people out there. The Apocalypse guy makes me laugh. He claimed in 1990 that it would happen between "sept. 4th and 6th" of that year. I was born on the 5th. Then again, perhaps I'm the Antichrist? Hmmm... Awesome. lmao

  • @GameFreak982928 Hey man, I'm a Christian and I take a lot of pride in being a Christian (roman catholic). You know the difference between a smart christian and a dumb christian, dumb Christians watch and believe fox news. Smart Christians know better.

  • @TheCompletionist Nice to hear that we're on the same page. =) Fox news is hilarious, I could laugh about it all day. I can't believe people actually buy that crap.
