Everytime I let my boys play a classic game (Ninja Gaiden, Contra, Mario), I sit back, watch and wait for them to ask for my help b/c the game is too hard for them.
They're really appreciating how much skill is involved in older, more difficult games, as opposed to the easier (save ANYWHERE) games of today.
all my friends say that they hate classic games, and i think they're shitheads, but i love 8-bit. and im 13. actually, i got rite into it, i wasnt even encouraged by anybody.
You can say that again. I share a PS2 with my cousins, and all they play are lousy sports games, and they think that Final Fantasy X is a stupid game.
"it was like reliving my past vircariously through my friends child. it sounds fucked up, but what can you do?" that is a brilliant quote. and in reality dont we all do that when we watch child play games, sports, or anything we did as youngsters? one of my fav GameJew vids ever (behind seeing you play your song for miyamoto *forgive me all if i have mis-spelled the greats name*)
hey yeahh dont give up on us yet..ive been playing goldeneye for the past few days XD ive passed it like five times hahaha and i prefer my N64 to the other nintendos i have
yeah, you definitly cant go wrong with super mario bros. i love that game but i dont have my nintendo 64 anymore(although i do have it on my comp. and all of the other original games like zelda etc.
me i just use a chair to sit in. but i have one leg over the side of the chair. you know one of those chair that looks like those fold out ones. but this one does not fold out.
This actually a strange coincidence. I was teaching my 4 year old niece to play Super Mario Bros a couple days ago. She liked it, but I think it was a little to hard for right now. She ended up playing Excite Bike for like an hour and managed to beat the first 3 tracks. I was around 5 when I first played Mario too, so I completely understand what you mean!
who dosnt like golden eye? and good job showing a child a great game. soon show her Zelda and mabey Pikman. After 8 years old, try the original Metroid. Soon your propoganda into the childs mind will be done and a new Nintendo gamer will be born.
i remember my first mario bros experience kinda, it was the original super mario bros, but the gameboy color remake, i still have, i cant beat the lost levels though
It's awesome what you did. I too probably would have done the same, but Im glad you weren't too prideful or whatever not to share that because now I'm really going to try and bite my tongue. Not because I thought you guys sounded like jerks or anything, but because as you said, she should just be able to play on her own.
your friend has the same sheilf that i have

This is why I like to say our generation is like the camp counselors for the youth of the 21st century.

By the way, be sure to teach her that the Ko0palings aren't really bad. They're just misunderst0od.

lol.... I was going to moan about stereotyping 13-year olds....
However I'm 14 so screw it, it doesnt matter xD
I made a mini-nes based arcade cab thing today (i was bored)
It looks awful lol (carboard + selotape = terrible aesthetics)
I used a Chipped PS1 and a ItMightBe NES, coupled with a 5" PSOne screen...
With Pac Man, Space Invaders and Donkey Kong...
007 GoldenEye (N64) is awesome!!!
