This portrayal of Otto doesn't inspire me. He comes across as a weak by stander. The impression of him from Anne's diaries is one of quiet firm loving dignity. Not a pushover. His face almost looks like it belongs in comedy and he doesn't look like he could organize anything. Van Daan looks like he's more in charge . Sorry about the moan but at times it is distracting. That said I've grown to like the portrayal of Anne and all the other characters even with Anne's young girl stage acting.

I believe this movie really is very accurate on locations like her home on the merwedeplein the set up of the house ,And showing the veranda of what that may have looked like.I.That was great.. But I feel some of the dialog was not as accurate,but still a very very good movie and telling her story. I did like hannah's protrayal of Anne in the whole story was better.And the concentration camp scenes ,I wish this one would have shown that. But a awesome movie THANKS for letting us see it.

@AnneAulisRobin Peter, sadly, WAS sort of dumb. Even Otto Frank said so. In the camp, Otto survived by staying in the camp infirmary, (yes -- they HAD them even in the camps!) Otto told Peter to do the same....but Peter wouldn't. So Otto survived, and Peter didn't. Peter WAS rather stupid....but he was still a human being, and shouldn't have been killed that way! (He died soon after completing a forced march ftom a camp --Malthusen?--started with an "M", anyway....

well...I know that the Nazis wanted to shoot all the other that stayed in auschwitz I tink Peter was scared to die thats the reason why he went to Mauthausen..I know that Otto Frank was really sick in auschwitz and that he said that peter should stay with him because its better when you stay together.

I know that Otto Frank said that the nazi almost killed him.
