along with inevitable quick reflexes of such chill coming from inside the body and hence, the 'tremor' sections of some notes. Imagine yourself standing under -40 degree celsius. You wouldn't be steadily and always on quick steps, but you may stumble and also have a sense of irregular change of speeds -- which was what Vivalidi was really trying to express in Winter.
Winter is about the inability of the body to move freely (unlike summer and spring). Hence, there are specific sections of this piece which must be played carefully to avoid just tumbling over notes that should have been emphasized with a certain degree of paralysis or 'largo-ness'. Moreover, I find that their dressing is perfect for this piece because winter is not about exhibiting glamor and poise, its really about a time of retreat, of deep thought, of an inability to move freely about
I think that this lady has definitely captured my attention in her interpretation of this piece Winter by Vivaldi. While during many performances I have witnessed that solo violinist most often tend to speed through this piece to exhibit their proficiency in violin playing, this lady in the video has definitely interpreted the piece with much greater accuracy and attention to the fact that while Winter should be played with a sense of chill, this sense of chill can come from slowing some bits
Neat and almost perfect interpretation. Excelent quality of sound. In brief moments, just a few thousandths of a second faster than I would. Maybe Vivaldi rather than musicians. Will always be gratefull.
Wonderful!!!

Antonio Vivaldi probably imagined his winter should sound like this. I have never heard such performance. Masterpiece!

I want to thank ininagap for posting a better quality video for us. Vivaldi+Julia Fischer+St.Martin in the Fields?
This is the one Sir Neville Marriner conceded his conducting to Julia Fischer.
I run out of superlatives that have not been posted.
Best I have ever heard, including I Musici
Can't ask for more than this in life. Absolutely THE BEST I have ever heard. " Winter" is my favorite movmt.
Do you know you can't buy this DVD from Amazon? It's that
good.
WOW, WOW, WOW....
