i don't know too much about this but after the war of independance in 1922 the 6 counties of northen ireland were left out of the free state as they had an overall protestant majority. you could find out on wikipedia.

In 1916 Irish rebels seized buildings in Dublin in what was known as the Easter Rising; it was possibly the most significant moment in Irish political history as it signalled the beginning of the War of Independence. In 1920 this war was ended with a notorious Treaty in which the British insisted that Ireland could have its independence if 6 counties in Ulster remained British territory. The alternative for the Irish was a "total war". So in 1921 Ireland was partitioned.

Originally it had been planned for the province of Ulster to remain British but overall this province had a Catholic/Nationalist majority. So it was decided to exclude 3 counties of the province from the new British state: Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal. Two other counties with Catholic/Nationalist majorities, Tyrone and Fermanagh were not excluded because the new state had to be geographically large enough to survive. So, pardon my beliefs, but Northern Ireland really is a mockery of democracy.

I think Ulster should remain British and I really dislike the IRA and all the splinter factions but it is quite admirable how dedicated the hunger strikers were. I can honestly respect anyone who is that dedicated to their beliefs to give up their lives.

found this information: "'Zombie' was inspired by a child's death. His life was taken in the arm's of his mother in London. There was a bomb planted in a rubbish bin in London and he happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time and he died. The reason the bomb was planted was because of a political territorial kind of thing that goes on in the North of Ireland and the UK. So the references to 1916 was when a contract was signed, which signed away the 6 counties to England."
