This is the only art you'd ever need or want to learn to defend yourself and your loved ones or to help the weak in times of need. I've trained Wing Tsung, along with dozens of other arts in my lifetime and this is BY FAR the most street tactical. Swift was my Sifu in this art =)
i have been doing kickboxing for quite some time and would like to probably learn something like wing chung kung fu. Would expand my skills and seems more lethal.
It's a demo showing how to deal with an initial attack. ie when a guy wants to hurt you he'd give it his all to punch you, that's when you'd react followed by a chain of WC moves to take him out, that's the beauty of WC. It's more street-like demo, but it'd be totally different if two practitioners of any forms fight, they'd be more guarded if you know what i mean, more like sparrings.
what he did was Jeet Kune Do, which is a fighting style he developed himself, but yeah, the core of the style lies in the striking techniques of Wing Chun but he put more "freedom" to it, he made Wing Chun into more of a free form, by including techniques from boxing and fencing.
Because he thought that Wing Chun has too many "rules" to work in life fighting. He used flowing footwork instead of stances (that u have in Wing Chun)
shame so many demos have students who never throw a real punch though, Sifu's have that title for a reason, no matter how hard the student tries he will not hurt the master so he may as well really go for that first punch.
i don't understand this fighting, it doesn't look like theyre actually hitting each other. do they purposely stop really close to emphasize control or what?
yes they do and that's a good training too controll your hits, and if you can see steve has really powerfull hits if he punch on of them they will get knock out :) i train kempo karate for some year we did the same,
Wow! I don't think I have ever seen the practical or applied aspect of Wing Chun. I've only seen the lone practitioner on the wooden Wing chun dummy. I've studied a couple of different styles my main is WuShu but I've gotten older and I don't have fast kicks I once had but still have the fast hands and this system looks to be very beneficial the my style of fighting. Much respect to "GrandMasters of WingChun"
Well, no it isn't, but everybody falls in to more natural stance, especially under combat situations. He certainly is good, and is very quick to attack with the nearest weapon to the head.
I was fortunate enough to train with Grandmaster Steve Lee Swift for a brief period of time - back at the old kwoon on MLK in Tampa. I would LOVE to train with him again. His Wing Chun is FIRST RATE!
looks like a great art to learn especially since it makes you so fast. and uses the chi in your body to make you stronger that really gives you a edge over anyone you fight who is not trained in the arts of chi i saw one art were people used chi to make parts of there body's stronger so they could servive being hit by 4 people in the neck or in the genitals or in other places they also servived being draged by the neck in a noose, they inhaled deep before getting hit whats that called?
Great presentations! Best street fighting applications I've seen so far. Who is this Grandmaster? Who bestowed him this title? What's his style of wing chun? Somewhat similar to Cheung's style. Where do you buy this DVD?
Loving the chain punches, elbows, eye strikes, joints, and knees. Its beautiful control this guy has too. I train in wing chun too. I'm still in the defensive stage and will start learning real offense soon!
muy bueno!

I also have to agree that he is quite good.
Especially because he doesn´t look like being so fast. I didn´t hear of him before but I will remember this line of Wing Tsun as a good one.

Why does this look so much like Krav Maga? Is that because Krav Maga has its roots in Kung Fu or what?
greeneyedguy 3 years ago
Krav Maga took the simultaneous attack and defense concept from Wing Chun, I've read it someplace..
WingChunLova 2 years ago
There are similarities with Wing Chun but Krav Maga techniques supposedly come from the German Wehrmacht.
Bah, in the end all styles are similar! ;)
