go to bruges/brugge to the tower where this scene was filmed..take a look from ground level and ask yourself why he didn'hitt the sides of the tower on the way down...if you see how the tower is constructed you'll know what i'm talking about...bloody good film despite that error

everything is so perfect about this scene.the contrast between gleesons view and farrels, the commiting suicide to save a young friends life.even the throwing of coins to urge the citizens to get out of the way.First class writing!
When I watched this the first time I was so sad and angry with this scene because you so wanted him to be able to shoot down at Harry and save his and Ray's life but then theirs the lights and he cant and he jumps and its so sad :-(
I get where you're comin from mate but in a lot of ways the film is about love, just not in the usual hollywood sense. Ray's love for chloe etc, but Ken loves Ray too. he dies to save his life. in a way he finds his humanity again by dying for someone else. maybe i'm just being soppy mate.
I knew it was really good before, but it's in this scene that In Bruges transcends from a smart comedy into one of the best films in years. Took my breath away.
Hearing the haunting strains of 'Raglan Road' in that scene, sung as only Luke Kelly can - AWESOME!! That song, that voice, those words - so-ooooo moving.
Cracking film, makes me want to visit Bruges..

Good guy Ken:
Can't save his mate because he can't see him
Commits suicide to save his life and give him his gun
Too many people on the ground
Uses spare change to clear them away

This film is so perfect. so beautifully writting and both Brendan Gleeson and Colin Farrell acted out of their skin.
enyrb - I think the song works as a 'tribute' or 'reverence' to the character of Ken if that makes sense. I love use of it in the film.
