BobHaulk, The Bible tells us the meaning of life and you can know it also. The universe is the handiwork of God and He also authored it's laws. God has no needs. Worship is for our benefit because we humans do need Him. We do study but science is not our God. Sometimes science gets it wrong but Jesus never fails. God promises that anyone who seeks for Him WILL find Him so we challenge you to set aside your ego so that God can prove Himself to you as He has to us.

BobHaulk, The Bible tells us the meaning of life and you can know it also. The universe is the handiwork of God and He also authored it's laws. God has no needs. Worship is for our benefit because we humans do need Him. We do study but science is not our God. Sometimes science gets it wrong but Jesus never fails. God promises that anyone who seeks for Him WILL find Him so we challenge you to set aside your ego so that God can prove Himself to you as He has to us.

For some religions, yes, but the Bible is very hard on human ego. It has no time for it. The "thing" as you called God Who made all things, sent His Son to pay the penalty we should be paying; it's all about God, not man. We messed up, & He has taken steps to fix it. By the way, science cannot prove or disprove God's existence, nor can it give meaning to life. It has nothing to say on these things.

I thought that I said that God's existence cannot be proved or disproved by science, and that science has nothing to say about meaning in life or such things. Who tells you that you are clean? As for being created by God denying my humanity, it actually affirms it - we are a species who were made for fellowship with God. I don't see how believing that a supernova (& as I understand it, it wasn't a supernova but a quantum flux that created the universe including our galaxy) gives either you or me any kind of significance except what we wish to give ourselves - in other words, human pride.

Human beings do not have "intrinsic" value if that value is the result of some philosophical idea; ideas change. Love is merely a hollow laugh at an empty universe a universe that is totally uncaring & indifferent (if you are correct). Being human must be a religious concept otherwise it is simply the case of one type of animal standing up & saying I'm of greater significance than others - with no reason for so believing.
