  • so brave the little girl :D i hope and i wish a good an d a lucka day :D

  • that bet looks comfy. i want it. i gotta go in and get a cavity filled tomorrow. im scared of the shot

  • @shippudendani I just got my cavity filled and the shot is not that bad.... I barely felt anything... just a pinch and its over. during the time they were filling it all I heard was the suction and drill sounds and felt nothing. Good luck tommorow hope this helps a bit.

  • @TheGoodies12 i got a cavity filled but i didnt need a shot! it wasnt that bad!!

  • very good

  • Hi yes you can be put to sleep at any age. Ask your dentist for an anesthesiologist or ask for oral sedation with a pill like valium or xanax etc. We are in the Los Angeles/ Orange County area in California and you can look us up under coastal anesthesia (.net).

  • do they put more then just little kids out? I'm 17 have had two fillings done oncer the years from other doctors who dont knock you out. and it hurts. I need more fillings done and a tooth pulled. and i'm scared that if i ever go back to one they wont since i' 17

  • she is so cute and very brave!:)

  • what is anesthsia

  • anesthsia can knock you out

  • Grace1414:

Wisdom teeth extractions are NOT done the same way. You should not be scared, the experience you will have is very very easy. First, if you are scared of needles, most of the time you can for some nitrous oxide while they start the IV or an oral =pre-medication like ativan or xanax. Second, your extractions will not require the breathing tube. Third, ask for local anesthetic so that when you wake up your mouth will be numb and you will have no pain.

  • im still so scared, do they do the same thing for teens? im 19 and so scared of needles and all this stuff and need my wisdom teeth out..is it the same thing? do they knock you out THEN give you the needle? i could have done great without seeing the tubes, but tell me if it is the same?

  • @grace1414 Unfortunately, no :(. The way they do wisdom teeth anesthesia is actually much easier than this. You don't have to have a tube down your throat because you can breathe on your own and they numb you up while you are asleep so you don't wake up in pain. Yes, they do put in the IV while youre still awake (but its really not that big of a deal, and Im terrified of needles too) and if you are really that scared you can ask if theyll give you laughing gas first :)

  • @theaterqueen95 all my cousins were knocked out at teh hospital to get theirs out, and they didnt yuse a tube in their throats because it would get in the way. im already scheduled to get them out unconscious at the hospital may 6.

  • @grace1414 Really? hmm, mine were just taken out at my surgeons office. I didn't have to go to the hospital at all.

  • @theaterqueen95 yah i have major anxiety problems, and they said its better isf im out

  • @grace1414 I was out too, but they still did it right at the surgeon's office. Very interesting...

  • @theaterqueen95 im in the hospital for mine,as i said im due in may to have them done, there a many "right" ways to do it, and my dentist has teh experience to do it in a hospital

  • what a sweet dr!

  • My brother had to have that done. They put children under 4 to sleep for fillings because they won't stay still in the chair. In my brother's case, he couldn't have milk at night because the sugar in the milk rotted his teeth, but he did anyway, so he got cavities in his front incisors. He was about 2 at the time, and now he's almost 16, and has to have his wisdom teeth out. He's getting them out a few days after his birthday, and was given the choice of being awake or asleep for it.

  • Why does the patient need general anesthesia? Would the use of conscious sedation (where the patient maintains their own airway) be of better use? There is no need for sevoflurane in this case nor the need for an endo tube.

  • @joshster89 You seem to be in the medical profession. There are alternatives to doing this type of case without sevoflurane and a lot of Anesthesiologists choose to do an intramuscular shot of ketamine/versed/glycopyrolate for their induction. This is a painful way to go and the kids remember this is association with the dentist. Oral versed is very smooth and there is mo crying. We always intubate the airway as THE safest way to prevent disasters.

  • @macdoczzz No, I am not in the medical profession, however I have a good idea of the different types of anaesthesia. I had an extraction procedure (4 wisdom teeth/2 pre molar) done under conscious sedation which was more than adequate. If I remember right, an IV and nitrous oxide was started and I was given valium, then propofol, and by then I was out. After the procedure I awoke with no memory between when the propofol was given and when I woke up. No intubation.

  • @joshster89 I have practiced Anesthesiology for 12 years now and have done thousands of cases. Wisdom tooth extractions in adults are generally done under deep sedation/general anesthesia. If you had propofol you had more than "conscious sedation". Most wisdom tooth extractions IN ADULTS are done with an open airway as you describe. Realize that this video deals with a 2 YEAR OLD CHILD who has completely different physiology and could NOT do simple sedation and has limited respiratory reserves

  • Hello,

Your concerns are best addressed with your dentist. Baby teeth with severe cavities can lead to serious infections and abscesses. Taken to the extreme the infections can even spread to the CSF and the brain. Obviously that is exceedingly rare but cavities need to be treated. Anesthesia of this type is not risk free, but in the hands of a Board Certified Anesthesiologist doctor (MD or DO) with experience in this area, it is exceedingly safe.

    thank you for writing!

    Dr. Popa

  • I don't understand why kids have to have this procedure if it's baby teeth. It is so risky. All the dentists say if you don't fix it it can ruin their new teeth coming in. Can't they just deal with that when they are adults? Anesthesia is so risky. My toddler has cavities and now his dentist and pediatrition are telling me this needs to be done. Even with surgery sometimes anesthesia is more risky than the surgery itself and this has to be done to fix baby teeth that will fall out anyway?

  • She is sooooo cuttte!

  • omg i had the exact same thing when i was in grade two

i coulden't eat for two weeks

  • what was she getting done?

  • @stinabinababe

Thats what I'd like to know. It looked like she was getting a cavity drilled and filled.

Only 2 years old with cavities? She still has her baby teeth.

  • I'm getting a root canal and 4-6 teeth pulled....can they do tht for both of those things?

  • Yes, everything went perfectly well as you can see at the end of this video clip. These procedures are very well tolerated and safe in the hands of a well trained and Board Certified Anesthesiologist

  • what a brave little girl! i hope everything went ok.

  • omg this is a dentist apointment?

  • When they remove wisdom teeth under general anesthesia do they have to do it like this or is there an alternative

  • @123katemoe i had to have an IV.

  • @123katemoe oh no its nothing like this when u have ur wisdom teeth out! Its much easier: all they do for that is give u an IV and then once u r out maybe they give u some oxygen through ur nose (with one of those things that looks like a laughing gas nozzle haha)

  • Now that is one very Brave little Girl..:) I hope mum bought her a nice present for being a little star..:)

  • aww

  • my brother didnt have surgery like dat

  • my brother had surgery in his mouth too

  • ??

  • what is that inher mouth

  • @SuperLuka20 its a rubber dam, keeps laryngospasm reduced and provides a pool for debris

  • Awe, that dentist was so sweet, careful and amazing with her. I wish my dentist was like that, mines evil!

  • @asboabsypie feck i think my orthodontist seems ro hate me for past bloody 17 years lolz

  • @torah1234 my orthodontist is smelly

  • @asboabsypie Gosh so is mine lolz

  • @asboabsypie I wish they could sedate me for if I had cavities and they needed filling, but all they just do is put me under nitrous oxide and numb the affected teeth with novocain. Yes, it's making me less scared of the dentist, but I still feel pain!

  • OMG MPOOOR GIRL!
