Question. These videos show you guys training the 2 Oly lifts, plus their power variation, plus front/back squats and rack presses. Is this what you mainly train, or does your program include other lifts? Also, keep posting the vids!
Question for you bro. Strength training shoulders for snatch. Which do you think helps more shoulder dumbbell front raises or shoulder shrugs. I know they both help but I'm just wondering which one you favor.
See, muscles "only" work isometric in the snatch. At least the main shoulder work is isometric. Shrugs and raises are con/excentric contractions.
I would advise the following:
Barbell in your neck as if you would do backsquats. Use the wide snatchgrip and do push jerks with that wide grip. The legstrength rocks up the bar and the shoulders arbeing trained to hold the weight.
Very good for explosivness, good snatch-supporting exercise.
...continued...may fight again one day or even do a lifting comp.
my best lifts ever were 122.5 and 142.5 (in oz)
before I left home it was 115 and 137.5 at Jr. 72kgs
I was never that good at the sport, but i didn't keep the boys at gilles entertained with my smart mouth... All best to you Jono and Clarey, Gordon and the rest of who ever remembers me at the gym...Chur' Bro
haha squats huh?? Nah bro my heavy squating days are long gone... I tore my Posterior Cruciant Ligament in my knee last year in wrestling..haven't had the surgery ... not sure I can be bothered they can't do much with a torn PCL. Besides I don't need that kind of strength these days (i do miss the the big poundages). Just trying to stay fit and enjoy training...
what is the significance of the front squat compared to the back squat??

FS puts more of an emphasis on the quads and it's harder to keep the core upright. Also it is obviously used to help increase the clean.

great lifting!
just one thing thats missing in that place ( in my opinion) is some flags , and maybe some posters about weightlifting.

Chris, had a chat with Clarey and Fletch, they definitely still remember you. Said you were a pretty good lifter, what were your best lifts?
Fletch said that what is said at school stays at school!
Good stuff with the kettlebells, would rather see you doing some heavy squats though!
