bending is about reviving sterile machines in order to make them unique and alive again, instead of the now ~ "bland & redundant" music is all about growth and expansion, about being new and exciting ~ not drowning in the flash flood of yesteryears archaic unstimulating tipicity. Honestly, who wants to hear the raw sound in a mix anyway?
wow. a lot of haters. he has a hobby, and if he chooses to mod a piece of gear he bought, whats the complaint? you wouldnt walk around and point fingers at people who buy an old piece of furniture and repaint it, would you?
its all a matter of taste, in terms of experimental and noise musicians (which most people already think is shit, but to each their own), these sounds are really valuable. Its about exploring and creating new sounds that are more expressive than your standard boring drum beat. i personally love it.
In surfing the Internet and watching YouTube I have found circuit bent machines that are constructive and kinda neat such as the Atari Synthcart or the Commodore 64 Cynthcart.I do admit credit to certain bending achievements.I hope bending experimentation will continue tracking in that direction.
I've yet to hear anything musically performed with bending.Everything i've heard through the bending process has been just noise and distortion and can't be controlled. The sounds on this vid are horrible and I just don't get the draw to it.He has electronic working smarts, but the end result of his work is detracting. You can call me what you want, but i'm a electronic musician myself and i'm naturally going to be critical of the work of others as well as them of mine.Effort is beside the point.
Circut bending is the worst garbage i've ever heard. You totally take a nice instrument and ruin it with that shrilling distorted whinning crap that kills your ears. Now your seeing these jerkoffs dissecting expensive synth workstations that can already do everything and destroying them with circut bending.Nothing musically can ever be achieved through circut bending, just trashy noise.Anode8 your music is crap and you have destroyed a really cool drum machine as well. What a complete waste!
obviously you weren't paying attention to the video he didn't ruin it all, it is obviously still fully functional. all he did was add a few effects to a before outdated drum machine that make an entirely unique sound! did you even take into consideration how much work it takes to do something like this? it's their property and their money and if they "ruin it" as you say, then it is their loss. stop being such a sheep and open your mind to everything this world has to offer.
I'm not for or against the circuit bent shit.. However, get a clue about what you're talking about. the RX-15 is old and out-dated and are worth about $50.00 on ebay or anywhere else. The effects it comes standard with are of no real use in the music industry anyways as they're pretty cheesy. so if you consider $50.00 expensive and the RX-15 to be a "really cool" drum machine. then you need to do some research and update your knowledge.
that's what people said about ALOT of instruments throughout time...Personally, I think the RX15 has a sick sounding cowbell, snare, kick, open hat, toms, and claps. Someone will even find a great track to fit that crash cymbal in. The data compression and sampling rate gives those drums some beef.
i totally agree. every time i find a synth i want to hear samples of and all i find is "circuit bent" i just know i'm going to be pissed off. i fucking hate you anode i hope you are burned a live in a fire.
wildness ensues! any schematics posted of this one?

No machine or instrument could ever be out dated...
it's all in how you use it.
Who says we still can't use these sounds? kanye west?
Fuck him...he sucks.

@0verload there no such thing as "out-dated". Any sound from any machine can be used..there are no rules bro!
Just because all the krap on the radio sounds that way doesn't mean WE have to go and follow them...just do your own thing.
