Awesome, amazing bike! I bought mine about a month ago and recently go to run it out here in the UK on Silverstone raceway. Absolutely amazing compared to my other bikes ( 07' YZF-R6, 08' GSXR-1000) and my friends 1198SP corse. I have yet to give the new fireblade or the RSV4 a go but I don't think they will compare with the power and the features. Not to mention the amazing service you get with the bike, warranty included. Two thumbs up BMW, you definitely got it right!
@Zulu1380 I got the motorsports paint scheme, shift assist, dynamic traction control and abs. The only option I did not get is the alarm. It was $17,222.00+$1100.00 tax for the state of Illinois. The bike is insane! It can do no wrong, and the power is off the charts.
yah this might be great because this is bmw... great engine... but honestly for the over all look.. its ugly... unsymmetrical looks(bad) exhaust(worst)... if i where to choose id go for cbr 1000rr(mpg, looks, price, maintainance, and durability is better)..
maybe if they would build a 600cc.. they could catch up will this mistake...but for now for the 600cc category.. ill go with the yamaha r6..
TTest should have been all euro's ducati, aprilia,mv augusta, triumph and such since that's the main markets their going up against in sells ......say what you want but no matter how good the bike is their not gonna out sell the Japanese big four

@wurkboot Hell yea man, I was there in June. Rode level 1 and level 2 same weekend. Came home to Texas, sold my Stage 3 Roush and bought one! Best trade I've ever made!
@tb2777 Cool. Sounds like a good trade. Thinking of selling my Mustang GT and doing the same thing. I pretty much live to ride these So. Cal. back roads.
Don t belive !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It s just Propaganda , to incrise sale in crisis time !!!!!! They used to use such metod before in 1939 ........ I stoped buy car test katalog which was made in GErman because germans car alway win, !!!!! even thouth are they very bad and expensive....
In Crise time its just German Propaganda!!!!!!! just to incrise SALE BMW first sport bike won!!! hahha What experince they have in production such bikes?????
Jesus Christ, what an ugly nasty bike! Looks like Karl Dall. But Karl has style, attitude, dignity and charisma. Karl is fascinating, this bike is just a piece of shit. So ugly, so manky ... Pefekt bike für loser, wanker, pussies and gays! Long live Karl!
Is there anybody out there who's not impressed by this bike????? The s1000rr get's near 198bhp engine power what means 202bhp on the crankshaft and 186 on the rear wheel!!!! Watch the tests!! Mindblowing!
Every s1000rr in all this tests had more power than the 193bhp that BMW told us! WOW!! German quality!!!!
I test drove a fully loaded model today and IT IS AWESOME. Great feel on the road (you can feel every bump but it doesn't throw the bike off it's line) handles well and turn-in is quick (feels more maneoverable yet holds like better than some early 2000 600cc sport bikes). Pulls well from 3,000 to 6,000 then just takes off all the way to redline at 14,000 RPM!!!!!!! Slipper clutch makes aggressive downshifting smooth and quick, while the shift assist is nice.
@circumambulate Shift assist allows you to shift without using the clutch or needing to load/unload the throttle (you can just shift while still on the throttle). IMO it felt a little jerky going from 1st to 2nd so I preferred to stab the clutch but from 2nd gear up it was smooth and responsive.

OK listen, i want to clear something! The PS - Motorcycle Magazine tested the 1000ccm sportbikes on the Dyno in there last magazine! Result? Dyno result in brackets! Aprilia RSV4 should have 180HP (179)! Ducati 1198s 170 (170)! Kawa zx10r 188 (181)! Honda Fireblade 178 (171)! Suzi GSXr 185 (175)! Yamaha R1 182 (174)! KTM rc8r 174 (174)! BMW s1000rr 193 (202)!!!!! NO JOKE! The BMW is the only bike who has more power than the manufacturer told us! If you clearly need it??? It's your own choice!
I totally agree with windi1982! What do you want 200hp on a road bike for??? Don't you think that Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki could put out a 250hp road bike on the market if they want to? Of course they could, they all have that potential. The difference between them an BMW is that they leave that to the racing teams, and instead build road bikes that are powerful and fast enough and durable, which is one of the most important things to someone who's going to buy a supersport road bike.
before the s1000rr i hated bmw motorcycles and i was a total suzuki fan but i believe the gsxr design has been going down hill and the other day i went to look at a bmw s1000rr in the showroom and i fell in love as good as jap bikes are the bmw is just ahead in everything. Not even the ducati 1198s could win me over.
My friend testride the s1000rr two days ago!!! And??? He brought the bike back!!!!!! He told me that bike is not happy to drive on the road!!!! TOO STRONG!!!!!! He said it's no fun!! Just for the racetrack!! ENDLESS POWER!! And my friend is driving a 1000er gixxer on his own!! so?? WOW! PS.: The BMW should have 193hp, our Bike dealer checked the s1000rr on the dyno!!!! ........201hp!! NO SHIT!!!! I've never seen anything like this before!!!
when a motorbike magazine tested aprilia rsv, kawasaki zx10r,honda cbr1000 and this one it just pulle 160 or something like that AND not even the ducati desmosedici pulls 201hp!!
HAHAHA!!! Believe what you want to believe!! I get no money from BMW! I drive a zx10r on my own, and love it! I only say what I've seen there!! All 1000ccm Bikes are great!!!! No doubt, but if you want the powerhouse, get the s1000rr!!! ...... And forget the Desmosedici!!!!!!!! The Desmo is no SERIAL BIKE!!!!!!!!! She has nothing to do with the other 1000ccm Supersports Bikes!!!!
HAHAHAHA!! Great! That could also be right!!! But i drive the bike on my own and i have to say the BMW is also tired up to 9000rpm as every 1000ccm superbike. But over 9000rpm?? It's like an exploding vulcan under the seat!!!!! Unbelieveble POWER!!! Much stronger than any other serial superbike!! Trust me this puts a smile an your face every time you throttle up!! And the quickshifter?? WOW! Best Bike!!!
2010 Kawa Z1000 MSRP - $ 12,999 Well, the BMW costs a bit more but it takes all of these. You do get bang for the buck. I suggest bikers to ride on, amazing. I was left speechless - check it out.
HELP! Ive had my 600cc for a couple years and would like to step up to 1000cc..I like the bmw and its price out the box but howzabout maintenance? Sure its better than the big 4 bikes but I dont want to spend double the amount for an exhaust, crashcage, and everything else n Id like to install myself. euro stuff (cars, bikes) seems to all be "need a special tool so have to take it into a dealer and spend another $500"..anybody have alot of experience working on eurobikes who could help me out?
@skiingpoppinridin i work on euro-cars, thats why i drive a Honda. Been Made Wrongs or BMW's are not what your looking for if you even ask about maintenance.
@skiingpoppinridin The S1000RR is harder to work on yourself, but if you have a good dealer, and treat your bike right, you wont pay much more over the life of the bike than the big 4. That's part of BMW's marketing of the bike.
I just wonder what my Mrs is going to say when I roll up home on the new BMW. I might have to take it home when she is not there ! Women just don't understand. I have 7 bikes in the shed and she will hit the roof when I get the BMW/ At least I will be able to ride the BMW anytime I want !
I awlays been a Ninja person but the BMW changed my life! OMG what a bike. Test ride was the Shi! I'm getting a BMW. Jap bikes need to step up big time.
no experience, however this will be my first bike. i expect no encouragement, but im not looking for speed, just trying to learn on something i will keep forever. id rather not have to go from small to medium to this. i could put it on the lowest mode, and with all the options its similar to a car, haha. bmw baby
@dquintana01 first time you forget to put the resting arm down you are pooned.. lots of value lost from not having a stock bike+5k for replacement depending on how bad it is. you will probably rev it from cold too, lol. get like the gs500e for 6months, sstep up to one of the faster 600cc's and then do whatever you like. getting the s1000rr as a first bike is just crazy. if you drive carefully you will never lerarn how far you can take a bike!
bmw has been planning this for a while, spying on all other companies trying to make their bike better, obviously when it comes to price the R1 is the best for the buck, you can put all the fancy ABS and gadgets on the R1 and get a better performance bike for a lot less than a BMW
Nice that they test a BMW in the UK... no wonder it won the challenge. 183mph top speed? Hardly. Not in the U.S. - ALL BMW's have speed limiters that stiffle the bikes to a top speed of only 150mph. Anyone telling you different is full of it.
@hardcore460 it doesnt really matter if its imported, they usually use the same parts as if they were built in the usa yours probably had a seperate package deal
hi....i'm french so my english is very bad, but i live at 20 minutes of the Route Napoleon , I like this road and I hope that you took some pleasure to run above.
The bike BMW backed engineered in order to make the s1000 was the K5 Gixxer.
K5/k6 Gixxer 1000 before the EU regs - The Daddy..

Slipper clutch makes aggressive downshifting smooth and quick, while the shift assist is nice.
circumambulate 1 year ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@circumambulate Shift assist allows you to shift without using the clutch or needing to load/unload the throttle (you can just shift while still on the throttle).

It's your own choice!
windi1982 1 year ago
I totally agree with windi1982! What do you want 200hp on a road bike for??? Don't you think that Yamaha, Honda or Suzuki could put out a 250hp road bike on the market if they want to? Of course they could, they all have that potential. The difference between them an BMW is that they leave that to the racing teams, and instead build road bikes that are powerful and fast enough and durable, which is one of the most important things to someone who's going to buy a supersport road bike.
Module79L 1 year ago
@Module79L The BMW on the other hand didnt only win because of the 200 hp!
hosenhochable 1 year ago
@hosenhochable, I also didn't say that but I'm pretty sure it weight a lot on the guys at MCN's decisions.

before the s1000rr i hated bmw motorcycles and i was a total suzuki fan but i believe the gsxr design has been going down hill and the other day i went to look at a bmw s1000rr in the showroom and i fell in love as good as jap bikes are the bmw is just ahead in everything.

NO SHIT!!!! I've never seen anything like this before!!!
windi1982 1 year ago
@windi1982
what you say is pure bull fuckin shit!!
when a motorbike magazine tested aprilia rsv, kawasaki zx10r,honda cbr1000 and this one it just pulle 160 or something like that AND not even the ducati desmosedici pulls 201hp!!

@rama6maiden

@gsxrpik
HAHAHAHA!!

2010 BMW S1000 MSRP - $ 13,800
2010 Yamaha R1 MSRP - $ 13,290
2010 GSXR 1000 MSRP - $ 12,899
2010 CBR1000R MSRP - $ 12,999
2010 Kawa Z1000 MSRP - $ 12,999 Well, the BMW costs a bit more but it takes all of these. You do get bang for the buck. I suggest bikers to ride on, amazing. I was left speechless - check it out.

HELP! Ive had my 600cc for a couple years and would like to step up to 1000cc..I like the bmw and its price out the box but howzabout maintenance? Sure its better than the big 4 bikes but I dont want to spend double the amount for an exhaust, crashcage, and everything else n Id like to install myself. euro stuff (cars, bikes) seems to all be "need a special tool so have to take it into a dealer and spend another $500"..anybody have alot of experience working on eurobikes who could help me out?
skiingpoppinridin 1 year ago
@skiingpoppinridin i work on euro-cars, thats why i drive a Honda. Been Made Wrongs or BMW's are not what your looking for if you even ask about maintenance.
merc55amgone 1 year ago
@skiingpoppinridin The S1000RR is harder to work on yourself, but if you have a good dealer, and treat your bike right, you wont pay much more over the life of the bike than the big 4. That's part of BMW's marketing of the bike.
chikinbo1 1 year ago
@skiingpoppinridin - its barely more expensive, as you can tell.

I just wonder what my Mrs is going to say when I roll up home on the new BMW. I might have to take it home when she is not there ! Women just don't understand. I have 7 bikes in the shed and she will hit the roof when I get the BMW/ At least I will be able to ride the BMW anytime I want !

no experience, however this will be my first bike. i expect no encouragement, but im not looking for speed, just trying to learn on something i will keep forever. id rather not have to go from small to medium to this. i could put it on the lowest mode, and with all the options its similar to a car, haha. bmw baby
dquintana01 1 year ago
