He is right that the Fusion does have a really smooth feel to the road. My current Camry is really smooth but I have recently driven other cars like a Malibu and a Avenger which are not so smooth. The Fusion has a nice, refined looking design to it while the Avenger is not as nice and the Malibu just does not do it for me. The Camry however is a nice car and it will be a hard choice over getting another Camry or a new Fusion
I am looking at getting one of two cars right now, a Camry or a Fusion. I currently have a Camry and can get a new one for around $29,000 or I can get a new Fusion in the $26-$27 range. I really do like the Fusion, it is a sharp car and has everything that my Camry has plus a few extras. The downside of a Camry is that you cannot get a black interior in Leather but on the Fusion you can. I like leather and I like black interiors.
I have a Fusion, and the sunroof really does intrude on headroom. Best to avoid the roof if you're taller. Otherwise, it's a great driving, and totally reliable car. Can't ask for much more than that.
I'm glad to see a big guy get in the car and check out the back. My son is 16 and 6'4' and NOT fat, but he wouldn't fit in this car. Most of my friends are tall guys also, so they wouldn't fit either. For me it's a deal breaker. Shorten up the trunk by three to five inches (who knows what all you'll lose up there in the time you have this car?) and give the back seat more space. See the 2010 Hyundai Sonata.
You should see what are the family cars we have here in Brazil. 5 people in a car with a 2,45m wheelbase. Car like Fusion and Camry here are a bit HUGE for sedans, and the Camry V6 cost quite a lot more than the Fusion, so you almost don't see it. There are more C class or 3 series on the streets, even though they cost around the same (Camry V6, 320, 180k).

I'd prefer the 2007 Ford Mondeo than this one. For some reason the Ford Mondeo is not available in America. I work at a car rental company in the UK and our American customers love the Ford Mondeo. We've had positive feedback from American customers who rented a Ford Mondeo from us and they expressed their disappointment of not being able to buy it in America.
You are all idiots. His head hit the roof, and his knees hit the seat because he is tall not fat. Im 6 foot 5 and Im glad I know this info now. Though i will still be buying the car, because i dont plan on sitting in the back.
I think they should have gotten an AVERAGED size person to review this car b/c apparently he is not average size and a person his size wouldnt dare buy this size car..wat do you expect when you're 6 ft something& you're trying to fit in midsize car. Maybe he should go review something else like the Silverado or F-150 that he can actually fit in comfortably!!!
there is no cheap material in the interior of this car. I just bought one and there are soft, spongy bits everywhere. the only hard plastic is the glovebox and you want that to be solid. If you broke any part of the interior of this car you were trying to.
its funny because any average sized person would fit absolutely perfect in the backseat i found it bigger than the camry anyway he needs to stick to big cars for an accurate opinion
Ford Fusion V4 HP 175, 22 City/31 highway. New Sonata V4 HP 200, MPG 22 City/35 highway. LOL The Hyundai Sonata has more power, and its even more fuel efficient. Hahahaha Hyundai hater, and lets wait for the Turbo charged Sonata which will blow the ass of any V6 Fusion. Ford=100 years of history=not much better than young Hyundai motors. ;)
I gotta say, the 2010 Fusion is pretty good. It's backseat is comfortable that my family-2 parents & 3 kids were able to sit comfortably in it for a 3 hour trip to visit grandma in the hospital on Easter. The 1 problem I have with it is cheap plastics everywhere causing a crack to appear on the front passenger door but I think that can be easily fixed at the dealer. Anyway, at least it has style & fun to it, compared to the 2 Honda Accords we used to lease.
The Fusion is manufactured at Ford's Hermosillo Stamping & Assembly plant in Hermosillo, Sonora, MEXICO, where the similar Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ are also built.
@dargay Camry and Accord have been "assemled" in the US for over 15 years> There is a difference between "Built" and "Assembled" as all the components are made in Japan and Japan has a very low unemployment rate . So my point is we are giving away valuble jobs to Japan and putting Americans OUT OF WORK. Much of your money goes to Japan you hurt the US and help Japan.

Patrick Olsen is huge. That's not good dude, your life expectancy and quality of life are going to suck man. Much like this review. Have you considered reviewing treadmills?
I bought a base model Fusion two months ago, no complaints with the back seat though.
Besides getting an excellent car for the money, Ford didn't take a bailout from the government.
As a last note, some of my paperwork got a bit messed up and I was overcharged a few hundred dollars on the loan. Ford sent me a letter acknowledging the mistake, and knocked an entire payment off the end of the loan to correct the error.
wrong...American design cars are very diff from European cars....but thyat's subjectve isn't it. I just feel an American design, u can tell what year or decade the car was from. With European car, it's harder to tell.
i disagree, but it seems that you haven't looked around lately because there are alot of american new arrivals hitting the streets that are quite nice.
While the Fusion is assembled in Mexico, the Non-Hybrid engine is assembled here along with the transmission(Non-Hybrid). Most of the parts are built in the United States and the profits stay here too. So you are still keeping more money in the United States if you buy a Fusion rather than an United States assembled Camry, where the profits go back to Japan.
no back room? WTF I just bought a sangria red metallic/charcoal black sport saturday and the room in it was amazing for its size and Im 6 feet. Thats why I totally got it. I really doubt this guy is taller than me. O_o
Thanks. I literally did a double-take when I first saw this car. Very, very sharp styling on this new Fusion. My brother got a Fusion 2 years ago and has nothing buy nice things to say about the car....and my bro is as picky as they come....
Yet ANOTHER very BIASED review of a fine American car.....amazing. He fucking goes out of his way from the very start to show you how cramped he feels the back seat is. Hey fatso, do you IMMEDIATELY complain about the cramped backseats of the import sedans you rate as well? No, those kinds of things get fucking ignored, don't they? Gee, do you think parents with very tall kids might opt for a Taurus instead? I saw one of these new Fusions the other day and the GT version is a real stunner.....
Hey guys, give the man a break. For the most part, he PRAISED the Fusion, much to his credit. His central issue seemed to be with leg room and head room; could be he's quite tall in person. And yeah, he's a big guy but he didn't hate on the car really. Said it was a little cramped in comparison to the Camry/Accord. We'll cut him some slack, huh? I'd buy this car based on his feedback, pro and con. I see them at the local dealership daily, and the 2010 is the bomb! Great looking car.
Little thin for a review. Comments on the backseat are subjective. You did mention your height or reference other vehicles. The blue as stated by someone else is a package thing. Should have mentioned that or mentioned that you are reviewing the sport model. Did show the actual details of the gauge cluster, comment on standard safety features, drive train options etc. Not a very good review.
The 2010 Fusion is a wonderful vehicle. From a owner it is the only car on the market that has alot of accessories and styling for its money. I just wish that the review documented that the electric blue was due to the sport model and choices chosen in the car.... Not all sports come with electric blue, you can get all black or blue and red!
yuck. I've been in several generation of ford focuses and they all... just... suck. I've been in a 01 VW jetta and it also feels... cramped.
My 01 Hyundai Elantra's been great, I've also been in a 95 Toyota camry or corolla... pretty good too, and a 01 Mitsubishi Mirage, also pretty good. They just feel... roomier, better quality, work better, etc.
Yeah, focus people are always saying how great their car is... the back seat is cramped, the doors to get in the back are small, opening the doors always has a trick to it, the interior just feels plasticy and cheap if it hasn't already fallen apart. People have had problems where the gear selector no longer tells them what gear their in, the windows will get off the track and not work... just so many random problems that my elantra hasn't had.
I can't believe i'm defending ford, since it's not my favorite car manufacturer by a really long shot. But you have to give props to them, reliability is no longer an issue (except for mustang and GT, they still are pretty unreliable)
If this vehicle had a honda or toyota nameplate on it, they would sell 300,000 of them this year. the bias against american vehicles is stupid. the fusion has had a "much better than average" reliability record, and it drives great.
ooo niiicee! i really like the music in this video.. it gives the whole thing a better feeling and makes it more.. um.. i dont wanna say entertaining because it was very entertaining.. but it gave it a little more something .. ya know.
My opinion of the best family car out there is a 1991-1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon or a 2000-2005 Ford Excursion. They both arn't cramped and don't look like the bugs I just killed with roundup.
I don't know about sophisticated but the Fusion has never had a recall. Ever. And has outstanding reliability records with several independent auto surveyors. The Accord during that same period had several. Just saying though I think seeing as your name is hondaboii89 I don't know if that seeps through with you.
I'll be the first to admit that Ford has greatly improved their quality, but the Fusion is just not quite up to par as the Accord. I like the Fusion, especially in black. It's a very sharp car, but American cars aren't as reliable as imports yet. I'm sure that in the near future, they will be. I'm not saying I dislike American auto makers, I'm just saying they have more to learn from the Japanese.

Motor Trend would disagree on the Accord side. . The styling may not be there, but every automotive journalist in the country says the Accord is the best driving family sedan, bar-none.

It can't be compared to the Camry or Accord. It is a small car. It is great looking. This is a design that Ford should keep on improving. However, if you want to compete with the like of the Camrys and Accords, space is paramount.
hi russian, you are so wrong and its ovious your a 12 year old hiding behind your computer. Ford has the same reliability as honda and toyota. thats proven : )
-I can give you 4- the number of gears our 05 Escape needs replacing after just 40k. I'm not kidding, its going to cost $2700, and it looks like it will be happening a couple of times again! I am definitely buying the Rav4 next time. And, as a Ford owner, I can say that I think that Ford *WAS* (camp. done) being misleading - there is a difference between reliability and quality. And my Escape seems to show neither.
Due to the fact that I just told you that I have an 05 Escape XLT limish green 4cyl 4x4. I honestly could not care less if you don't believe me for some reason. . .
I agree, our workplace has all FORD products and the transmissions all go within 100,000 miles or sooner. And the reviewer looks like a fat kid in a baby carriage inside this car, guys like him need to stay in redneck trucks....

bg1379 2 years ago
so a car should only fit people less the 6ft??
we come in different sizes, and America being 'bigger', car companies should take that into consideration, like the Accord.
my neighbor has a new Accord, and my other neighbor has the last generation Accord, WOW, the new Accord is much bigger.

ford has done a good job with this one....

the reviewer seems like he is too big and fat for the Fusion.

Overall, though, it looks like a good design. Quality will soon to be seen.

My opinion of the best family car out there is a 1991-1996 Buick Roadmaster Estate Wagon or a 2000-2005 Ford Excursion. They both arn't cramped and don't look like the bugs I just killed with roundup.
Jon13bur 2 years ago
Me and my Family own a 2005 Ford Excursion, it's pretty nice.

Nice styling, though it still isn't as sophisticated and reliable as the Honda Accord...
hondaboii89 2 years ago
u wish.. pshhtt.
RussianCoolAnton 2 years ago
I don't know about sophisticated but the Fusion has never had a recall. Ever. And has outstanding reliability records with several independent auto surveyors. The Accord during that same period had several. Just saying though I think seeing as your name is hondaboii89 I don't know if that seeps through with you.
sweetwater88 2 years ago
I'll be the first to admit that Ford has greatly improved their quality, but the Fusion is just not quite up to par as the Accord. I like the Fusion, especially in black. It's a very sharp car, but American cars aren't as reliable as imports yet. I'm sure that in the near future, they will be. I'm not saying I dislike American auto makers, I'm just saying they have more to learn from the Japanese.

Wow, that man must be really tall because even I can fit in that car. (I used to be the Guiness Record Holder for the tallest living man) =P

Maybe the Fusion can compete with the Camry and Accord..but never with the Maxima.
The Maxima is on a totally different level.
OrangePHX 2 years ago
Totally, it is in a class of its own!

I'm glad Ford redesigned the Fusion to stay afloat in this competitive business ... what's with people's obsession with soft-touch dashboards ???
davidhalifax 2 years ago
its ok to make a point to say to look ok or crap but these people are obsessed
like with chryslers cars are usually crappy in the materials department

Amazing car.
I love this Ford. Only American automaker that has proven its self worthy of competing with the japs.

Camry and Accord are fuckin yawnmobiles and the Fusion is much better than them.
nokia3591 2 years ago 10
Motor Trend would disagree on the Accord side. . The styling may not be there, but every automotive journalist in the country says the Accord is the best driving family sedan, bar-none.
bg1379 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
It can't be compared to the Camry or Accord. It is a small car. It is great looking. This is a design that Ford should keep on improving. However, if you want to compete with the like of the Camrys and Accords, space is paramount.

i speak the truth haha, and wow give me ATLEAST 5 reasons why ford sucks?
steve9509 2 years ago
"ATLEAST 5 reasons why ford sucks? "
And my Escape seems to show neither.
bg1379 2 years ago
and i know you own a escape how?
steve9509 2 years ago
Due to the fact that I just told you that I have an 05 Escape XLT limish green 4cyl 4x4. I honestly could not care less if you don't believe me for some reason. . .

I agree, our workplace has all FORD products and the transmissions all go within 100,000 miles or sooner. And the reviewer looks like a fat kid in a baby carriage inside this car, guys like him need to stay in redneck trucks....
