It's funny as to how many people know this song. I have to wonder though of how many people know the game it's self and of how big it was when it first came out.
@thefifthteen Just like my school. They're listening only some shit like Justin Beiber.Honestly (wow I use this word very rare) I think I'm the only person who don't listen any shit pop music (only epic song like this or Enimen,GaGa,and some polish rapers)
Outstanding job! Beautifuly done! My sister is in band, I know she would go insane if they were able to do this song!! Such a difficult song, what a great job! xD
To all viewers, there is a concert band version arranged by Ralph Ford which you can buy online. It's in a book called Video Games Live - Part 2, along with Myst III Main Theme and Bounty Hunter Theme, $12 for conductor's score, $76 for all parts separated. I bought the $12 one cuz I didn't know what I was getting (i'm not really in the know how of band & orchestra), but it seems to be a good arrangement. can't go wrong with it. just add the choir. :]
This is pretty sweet. If only our band could play this well. But why is their more people in choir it seems then there are in band? You have to get that awesome music out to at least half the juniors and seniors.
Hey, is it possible to send me the choir sheet music? I have looked everywhere and so far this is the only video that I found that actually arranged it for a choir. Send me a message to confirm so I can give you my email so you can send the file. Please and thank you!
@MsChandlerJohnson interesting. some of us actually try to arrange this, succeed, and none of us want to share it hahah. well, if we could figure out how to make official arrangements that would sell, that would help all of us. i may arrange my own if no one wants to share with me. :] (i don't mind the not sharing part. i understand, because we actually do the work no one else wants to!)
I'd like to see a full-on chir preform this with no instruments. I like this version, I think it is awesome, but I'd like to hear it acppella done by a high school or college choir.
The concert band and choir I performed with in high-school would NEVER have been able to do this good of a job, and we had some talented players in our ranks. For high-school level students, simply making it to the end of this piece is quite an accomplishment! I am currently doing an arrangement for guitar (with a few other FFVII pieces mixed in as a medley) and, as a guitar player of over ten years, even I am having a difficult time of it. Bravo!
Some of you guys are forgetting these are high school students. Give them a break. Sure, maybe this piece is a little too "advanced". But they still did an ok job.
I am working on doing the same performance your high school did, at Bartram Trail High School in Florida. and I need the choral parts if you chould send them to me please :)

It's good, but it could have more feeling to it. There's no emotion, no feeling of intensity that the original piece had, and some parts are a bit sloppy...
the problem with high school choirs is that they sing very breathily, they dont project their voices. if they could sing outwardly, then this would have sounded a lot better.
My band will hopefuly be playing this for our spring pops concert. IT IS INSANELY DIFFICULT. I'm on flute, and I hate how there's absolutely no places to breathe x-x I am also first chair, and half of my section doesn't even play the easiest music we have. This is mission impossible xD
Have you ever considered doing any other video game suites such as the Super Smash Bros. Brawl theme or possibly an orchestral version of any other Final Fantasy music suite?
Lol, around 0:55 the ascending sequence (the term doesn't come to my mind atm) is pretty tricky. I think it was on the flutes in the original score (could be wrong), and on trumpets it's just monster.
Audio quality wasn't so great, but that's not the band/choir's problem, eh. Fascinating rearrangement (and one that sounds just as awesome without having strings giving the Psycho effect), kudos.
This arrangement was written by Arnold Morrison and Mike Greulich (Greulich writing the choral parts). Morrison's score is online, but if you would like the choir score I can send that to you.

It was a band arrangement. (I found the same part that they we using.) It was only brass, woodwinds, and percussion. They interpreted the choir in as well. I have been trying to get my band director to let us do a combined performance like that. (I play 2nd trumpet.)
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
It sounds horrible. The chorus has no power behind its singing. The balance is completely off. The lower registers of the high winds should never ever sound shrill like this. The band members are so off tune that they sound like a mess. It's sloppy.
Well, you're entitled to your opinion. I would think, however, someone as musically gifted as yourself would have far better things to do than spew negative rhetoric towards a performance that was, for these students, a very large accomplishment.
Negative rhetoric? People don't improve if they don't know what to improve. I don't dole out compliments just because they make people feel better. If people are not ready to hear criticism, then they're not ready to get better.
There are moments when stern criticism is appreciated and others when it is not. This is one of those "not" circumstances. The whole point of placing the video on Youtube was for the participants to see what they accomplished. I respect your comment which is why I did not delete it, but you need to understand that although your message may have come with good intentions, your tone was not conducive to a productive conversation given the outlined circumstances.
Since when do you have the authority to tell these students how to get better, that kind of criticism should be relayed by the students' band director.
@incognito217 I disagree. Negativity discourages people from wanting to even try again. I'm a firm believer in positive reinforcement for I have found that when people are told what they have done well, they will do it again.

This song is about as hard to perform as Sephiroth was to defeat in the actual game. .......they probly did that on purpose.
