  • Were his times better before or after?

  • Were Lance's TT times better in 2008 or 2010?

  • @superfisto 2010 cause he did no time trials in 2008

  • He said...that naturally he doesn't like to keep his head down. Said...others could do it with ease and he found it difficult to not be more aware of where he was going and what he was seeing ahead of him. He knew it caused more drag but, wasn't comfortable with his back flatter and head down. Guess he overcame it.

  • Well, I heard that Armstrong did so well TTing because his drivetrain was on the left side causing much less drag. And weight. And mechanicals.

  • why is the gear on the wrong side ?

  • @omwendel - Because the picture is flip to the other side. Look at the letters written on the bike. THe Nissan and the Trek is backwards. :)

  • @omwendel its a flipped picture, check out the graphics/words on the bike

  • you can do this and that but you need drugs...he was even worse in this years tour de france..he did not dare to take drugs..you you rise your hb from 15g/dl to 16g/dl

that is about 5dl blood..now that is power and you shitty angle has nothing to do with that..

  • A rider like Alberto Cantador adjusts his position throughout his rides.

The final TT in the 2010 TDF he was shifting his body forward at the edge of the saddle for aerodynamics and when he needed power, he shifts slightly back into his saddle.

Which is a good technique to try.

  • The 2008 picture was his traditional position when he road in 2003-2005 victories. I assume it gave him more efficiency rather than aerodynamics.

But for 2010, a dramatic change.

RadioShack got the new bike with a new geometry and started all over.

And his new position. Is phenomenal.

His prologue ride in the TDF 2010, showed how is form changed.

  • New position is much better.

  • the pedal stroke is different in both pictures

    therefore

    the analysis is incorrect

  • @glozick of course the pedal stroke is different. he is in different positions

  • @glozick Not at all, the measurement is taken from the centre of the BB, therefore it doesn't make a blind bit of difference!

  • Good observation shows that Lance is forced to ride like this since the frame and handlebars are totally different. Winning most of the time trails he did, it's questionable why he needs to change. With the design of the handle bar, riders have no choise as to go forward on the saddle.

  • hi, how can i know how to get the best position on a bicycle ? in my case i use a MTB but i do more road than offroad

  • what type of position like a TT position what?

  • @cyclingpro99 the best position for a MTB, is there any kind of site or sofware that helps oyu when you need a bike fit ?

  • @azt3c well for a bike fit you should try your local bike shop they might have a bike fit studio or tell you where you could find one that is in or close to your area. for any help you should go to a bike shop and they should know about everything you want to know. you should look up places in your area or expo, etc that could have a bike fit

  • @azt3c on a mtb just get your seat height right and your good.
