  • Nice layout !! What camera did you use for the cab ride ?

  • @gwheath220 I used a Canon PowerShot A590 camera. There's a picture of it at the end of the video (around 6:10). Thanks for taking the time to watch my video and for your kind words.

  • wow nice layout

  • @shazam75 Thanks for riding with me and for your kind words. I've enjoyed your videos too. Keep up the good work.

  • can anybody tell me what kind of engine that is? i like the shape....looks pretty cool

  • @traindude233 The blue Conrail engine in this make-believe cab ride is an Alco RS-11, made by Atlas. I think it looks cool, too. The other 2 engines seen rolling by (CNJ & Conrail) are RS-3's. Thanks again for taking time to watch & comment.

  • @ibiubuok Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed your layout, pretty cool!!!

  • @flamingoefarms Thanks a million for watching my video and for taking time to leave your kind words. I appreciate it.

  • @ibiubuok Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed your layout, pretty cool!!!

  • Only one suggestion to make; on your level crossings, put some filler across the tracks, and while it's setting, carve a small groove for each rail. When it sets, sand it down to flush with the top surface of the rails, and you have a perfect base for your road surface

  • @Mechknight73 Thanks so much for riding my train with me AND for your suggestion. It sounds like a good idea.

  • Thanks Charlie! That's a real inventive way to mount the camera! I never thought of that, VERY Clever! Love the music too, perfect for the speed of the train! Good Stuff yet again!!

  • @teddybeareleventeen Thanks for riding in the cab with me. This was my very first video upload--I wasn't sure anyone would even like it. Thanks also for taking the time to leave a comment. I appreciate it. Please feel free to contact me if ever I can be of help.

  • Nice

  • @marodude752002 Thanks for your kind word and for taking the time to comment! I appreciate it.

  • Wow, Charlie-more views than any of my videos!!

  • Thanks for riding with me. Actually, I think I surprised myself. This was my first video. I worked on it for a week--taking video clips from each direction & just about every combination of equipment I had. As always, I appreciate your kind words of encouragement. BTW, you've made some fantastic vids too! Keep up the great work!

  • by the way, what do you use to make your roads out of?

  • These are Busch roads and come in approx. 6 foot strips. They have quite a variety of roads to choose from (wide or narrow, yellow or white or no lines, etc., and parking lots--although obviously they're not 6 foot strips). You peel off the backing and stick the road to the surface. They're kind-of rubberized so they'll somewhat curve. They're pretty cool--although not cheap! But what is? Please feel free to ask any questions. I want to be of help. Thanks again!

  • hell yes i got trains XD

    Trains are Freaking Awesome!!

  • Thanks for riding with me and for taking the time to leave a comment. BTW, you've got an impressive layout too! :-)

  • @ibiubuok

thanks, but i have to say your layout is top notch! And it was my pleasure to ride on your awesome trains!

  • How'd you attach the camera? It looks a bit too high, but still nice. The biggest question is, with the camera that high, how'd you prevent it from falling over?

  • My camera was duct taped to the wooden mount that sat on the engine hood (shown at 6:05-6:10). Since the camera stuck out on each side, it had to be high enough so that it wouldn't hit everything it passed--and on the inside track so as not to hit the back wall. And because it's heavy, it had to sit on something heavy enough so that it wouldn't wobble. Yeah, it was a challenge. Thanks so much for riding in the cab with me! And good luck with your channel too!

  • cool video.music its also nice but all trains of there its yours?

  • Thanks for riding with me. Yes, all of the trains are mine--although sometimes I switch the cars around so that it looks like there are more cars than there really are. Thanks again!

  • Nice ride on a nice road. Thank you for the posting.

  • Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment and for riding on my train.

  • thank you.i was mad half today but i just with the smooth music and train ride through your BEAUTIFUL layout.

now you push me to make a layout soon

    thanks again

  • Wow, thanks so much for your comment. Glad I was able to provide a few calming minutes during your troubling day. BTW, I'd love to see your layout! Good luck and thanks again.

  • im only 16 sir,so i got to save up and you know .but i will try to get it together,a day at a time.but ok thankx alot sir ,bye

  • Music reminds me of Disneyland's People Mover and the Monorail. Pretty good.

  • You're right about the music. Thanks for riding the rails with me via my video!

  • :D

    Glad to know!

  • How fun...thanks for posting

  • I'm glad you stopped by, watched and left a comment! Thanks!

  • This was a great clip of a great layout. And what's more, Although I myself model in N scale, you've still provided me with plenty of inspiration for my own model railroad project. Thank you.

  • Thanks for taking some time to watch & comment on my video. I'm glad I've provided you with some inspiration for your project. Feel free to ask any questions. Thanks again!

  • Cool set!

  • Glad you liked it. Thanks for taking the time to stop by!

  • your welcome! But i had one question, How do the trains move?I heard electricity move through the tracks but how does the electricity get to the tracks?

  • I have 2 DC power-packs that are connected to the track. If you look at my video "An Aerial View of My Model Railroad" at the 1:50 mark, you'll see the power-packs and panel switches. Thanks for your interest! Feel free to ask any questions.

  • Oh, So the power form a box is connected to one track and the other tracks connected get it too?

  • Exactly. You got it :-)

  • Okay!Thanks!

  • Love the music and video, thanks

  • Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by, watch, and comment on my video. I appreciate it!

  • Although I've seen others do it successfully on a flat car, when I tried it, not only did the car wobble, but because my camera stuck out & was so low, it hit everything it passed--rolling stock roofs, buildings, trees, signals. Thanks so much for stopping by and for taking the time to comment.

  • okay i ave a question.........what did u use for ur cab cam? a helmet cam? please let me know.

  • In this video, whenever you get a cab view, that was taken with the switch engine (pictured in the 3 still photos at the very end) all by itself, with the camera--a Canon A590--mounted on its hood. BTW, if you look at first comments (left many months ago by kind viewers like yourself), you'll see some of challenges I faced--because I don't own a video camera, just a "regular" digital camera. Thanks so much for watching!

  • great =)

  • Thanks so much for your comment--and for traveling from Finland to ride on my train. (BTW, I've ridden on Finnish trains and had a great ride!) I hope you'll stop by again and thanks!

  • nice video

  • Thanks for stopping by & taking a ride on my train! You've got a pretty cool collection of vids yourself. Thanks again.

  • Adorable!!! I love it! Great video and great layout!

  • Thanks so much for stopping by and watching. I'm glad you enjoyed your ride!

  • yea i had to take mine down apprently but im making a new won and itll be similar too yours

  • I look forward to seeing it.

  • i really wanna railbox car

  • I like my railbox cars too. In this video, 1 is an Athearn (from about 15 years ago). The other I think is a Lifelike (maybe) from about 4 years ago. They're kind of hard to find. Thanks for taking time to watch. And, keep up the good work on your layout, too.

  • check out my videos.

  • nice

  • Thanks for watching!

  • Nice video when I get my layout finished I will post something.

  • Thanks! I appreciate your taking the time to watch! You bet--I'd like to see your layout.

  • that was the best train video i have ever seen thanks

  • Wow! You've made my day! Thanks so much for watching & rating!

  • awesine video your layout looks HUGE~~

  • Thanks for watching. Actually this (6'x12') layout is only 1/2 as large as it looks since 1/2 way into the video I ran the train in the other direction to make it seem larger. Thanks again!

  • nice looking layout.nice to ride with you.hey i have the same camera.

  • Thanks for stopping by! Although I'm not much of a photographer, I've been happy with this camera--it's easy to work with & seems to take good shots. Thanks again for watching!

  • Nice video! However, next time try mounting the camera on a flat car pushed by the engine. It will give a more realistic eye level.

  • I agree with your comment & have seen others do it successfully. When I tried it, however, not only did the flat car wobble, but, because my camera stuck out on both sides, it hit everything it passed--rolling stock roofs, buildings, trees, signals. (A smaller camera, which I don't own, would have made things easier.) Also, I could only video on the inside track or else it knocked into the row of paper buildings along the back wall & fell over. Thanks so much for watching & for your comment.

  • vary nice! I am commenting on your videos now. I am going to make my cab ride video, I am thinking of placeing it on one of my ore cars.

  • Thanks so much for watching. I'll be looking forward to seeing your cab ride video.

  • i like the bible verse haha

  • Me too. I just seemed to fit. Thanks for watching.

  • how do u run multiple engines on the same track with DC thats wat im trying to figure out check some of my vids out

  • The layout is electrically divided into sections (or blocks). Although each of the 2 power-packs can power any block, toggle switches on the control panel determine which power-pack will power the train. (I've provided a more detailed explanation on your channel page.) Thanks so much for watching. While I'm not an expert, if I can be of further help, let me know.

  • are u running dcc or dc

  • Thanks so much for watching. Although I use 2 MRC (Model Rectifier Corp.) power-packs, I hope to go DCC within the next year or so.

  • What the F? awesome layout, nice camers mount lol

  • The camera was a challenge. (A smaller camera, which I don't own, would have made things easier.) Being heavy, it had to ride on something heavy (not a flat car--that wobbled too much). Since it stuck out on both sides it had to be mounted high or else it hit everything it passed--rolling stock roofs, buildings, signals, trees. And it could only video on the inside track or else it knocked into the row of paper buildings along the back wall & fell over. Thanks so much for watching.

  • great railway ,i lik the layout because the way the track is layed out

  • Thanks so much for watching. I've been happy with the track plan. You too--keep up the good work.

  • Great Job! I did this with my Ho train too. I have all Kato engines and I have all Kato track too. Keep up the great work! 5 stars

  • Thanks so much for watching. I must admit, I amazed myself with this video. I've been happy with the performance of my Kato & Atlas engines and Kato track--especially the turnout wiring having only 2 wires. I've been watching your videos too, keep up the good work, Ryan!

  • Thanks for the ride! That was great! Also very nice angle! May i know how you did it?

  • Thanks! (Note the 3 still photos at the end.) I duct taped the camera to the wooden mount, placed it on the engine and ran the engine around the layout several times in each direction. Since the camera stuck out on each side, it had to run on the inside mainline or else it hit the paper buildings along the back wall. Thanks again--and best wishes with your layout too!

  • Oh! thats how! Oh nice camera! I see that they have good quality. My dad was thinking about getting me one. Also thanks and what type of track are you using?

  • This is Kato track. Yes, it's more expen$sive than I'd like, but quick & easy to work with, has good looking ballast for my purposes, 2 wire switch machines & "power routing" inside the turnouts. I was up & running quickly. My previous layouts used Atlas track (which was also good, fairly inexpensive & reliable). I've been selling it on eBay to lower my Kato track cost. Thanks again, Oscar. Now I'm going to take another look at your layout.

  • Did you solder your track? And do you think you could make a "railfanning the layout" video? That would be great. Ide love to see your trains running through the senery you have.

  • I didn't use any solder on the track. I even wedged the power-feeder wires between rail-joiners & rail (to avoid buying Kato's feeder track$). Thanks for your idea about railfanning. I may try that with a Budd RDC video I'm thinking about. Thanks also for answering my NCE question on your video. Oscar, if you have any other questions, please ask. I'm glad to help. Keep training!

  • No problem! also what was the first song? It may fit my next video that will not be a layout update but something much more interesting if i do get it. Also i liked how you marked down were everything is. That was very smart. I might do that. Also what make are most of your buildings? And the trees you have on your layout do they just stick in?

  • The trees are from eBay (about $1 each). Just drill a hole & stick them in. Presto--a forest. To hide bookshelves, etc. from being videoed, I clamped corrugated cardboard strips to the layout edge & stuck trees in the holes--til I ran out of trees. (There are a few free standing trees.) The buildings are plastic kits from hobby shops. Sorry to say, the songs are unknown. I recorded them off the radio--the station's since gone off the air. Oscar, thanks for your interest. Ask anything!

  • we've had a great ride millie and jean

  • Thanks for watching...and don't play on the tracks.

  • Great camera angle! Kick-ass layout!

  • Thanks for watching. I amazed myself and appreciate your comment. Have a great day!
