I love this song, and the very pretty Kristina's performance has a haunting quality, but I can't help thinking of what the dynamic Ewa Farna could have done with it (well known in Slovakia, and with some nice work with Moravian-Silesian folkloric music as well as Slovakian classic pop on her resume).

I am so sorry to write these words, but Horehronie is not an original song. It seems is a modern version - a very good one, indeed - of a balkanik folk song. The oldest version I've found is a macedonian folk song. Please, search on Youtube and listen "Oj, devojce" - Macedonian folk song (preferably the one sang by Tose), "Valle kosovare" - Albanian song, "Necazuri si suparare" - Romanian song etc. As you all know, rules of Eurovision contest accept only original songs.

Some of them thank to slovak television for this song, which promotes Tose, a famous macedonian singer who sang Oj Devojce. Also, I read many albanian reactions. They are not very happy listening slovakian song because is similar with a very popular albanian melody, older then Horehronie.
