  • surgery doesnt always cure it. it does come back. I have had the surgery once had it repaired two years later I have it again. arrrggghhhh.

  • what to shud Ido to get rid of it, I am frustated now.

  • @bulllsize Please see the link in the video for more information. If you would like to be evaluated at Mayo Clinic, please call 507-284-2511.

  • I don't know if anyone can answer this, but I have a question related to this video as I think I may have a Hiatal Hernia: I have never been able to burp. I have childhood memories of soda drinking with friends to see who could burp the loudest - but I could never burp. I would just bloat to the point of tears. As an adult I frequently get a gassy stomach (rarely acid reflux) and must stick my fingers down my throat in order to remove the gas. Has anyone heard of this problem before?

  • Thanks for the great video. Good Explanation.

  • Be careful. Don't let doctors push on your stomach during the exam. My doctor hurt me doing this!

  • i cant breath ans swallow when i eat .....doc prescribed antibiotic for h pyloric and i have gastritis and hernia with a endoscopy so scary the way i feel

  • Can this feel the same way it feels when a baby is inside moving upwards hurting the ribs? Also when I eat I need to lay down on my stomach, it helps with the pain. Well this video and others on yt has helped more than dr visits.

  • what is the threat if any of COPD and emphysema with stomach protuding into hiatal hernia? will surgery still be done?

  • it started one night when i ate some chicken and went to bed not long after. When i woke up, i could feel some chicken still choked in the middle of my abominal. To cut short, I often feel breathless especially after a meal and will often feel easier to breath standing up. Sometimes even without a full meal, i do feel breathless by sitting down. Went for an endoscope and the doc said I have hiatus hernia.

  • thank you for all the great info. you speak very well.

  • I didn't have any of the symptoms mentioned. instead what I have is food coming back up into my mouth all the fking time. And a lot of gas, belching and such.

  • @handelsme take or eat yogurt every morning also take, 2000 I.U. Vitamin D3 and a good algae based souce of DHA, like CVS Algal -900. Take all 3 of those recommended above, I gurantee your symptoms disappear.

  • @gblueslover2 I have been doing this 4 years and my hiatal hernia is worse than ever I take a multi 5000iu d3

1000 mg algae, k2, fish oil and Org Greek yogurt everyday

  • @bonzaibb12 I have no idea of what your general diet is, hopefully you aren't drinking any booze whatsoever or getting high on anything. But it does beg the question of why your symptoms would be " worse " if you're indeed taking d3, omega 3's , and yogurt. Sorry, it's sounding as if your symtoms are worse BECAUSE you're taking these supplements ? Is THAT what you're implying ? Not sure what you meant. Clarify please.

  • @gblueslover2 I am not implying it the supplement have made me worse just that they in no way cure a hiatal hernia or its symptoms. I am not a drinker or druggy and I eat a whole foods diet from the health foods store. No red meats and only cooked easy to digest veggies. I eat light meals and do not eat 3 hrs before bed. I excersise daily. So there you have it a healthy diet and lifestyle

  • @bonzaibb12 Mine have disappeared... And I emphasize it's my symptoms. Yes the pain is gone- NOT the hernia. I would surmise that you take those things because you just feel mentally like you "should" take them, even though they don't help ? And/or maybe the doctor recommended them and that's why, if I may ask ?

  • @gblueslover2 By the way your a bit rude. Implying I am an Alchoholic or druggie just because my experience shows your theory to be inncorrect.

Most druggies and Alchoholics dont bother to follow any type of advanced supplement routines.

  • @bonzaibb12 Sorry about that if I implied. I certainly was on the hopefull side of things that you weren't. And sure enough you were not. Great.

  • @handelsme take probiotics and/ or eat yogurt every morning. Also take, 2000 I.U. Vitamin D3 every day and a good algae based souce of DHA, like CVS Algal -900every day. Take all 3 of those recommended above, I gurantee your symptoms will disappear.

  • @gblueslover2

    i just had a endoscopy,

i was diagnosed with hiatal hernia

  • @mauribest1 Me too, but several years ago. There's alot you can do nutritionally to deal with the pain, let me know how you're doing. Please follow my advice, or at least try a couple of them. I would not recommend for any surgery, unless you are really convinced it's the only way....

    Take care

    G

  • Thanks for uploading this

  • does the surgical repair last a lifetime? will a person be symptom free? are there side effects with the surgery? like not being able to burp or vomit?

I have been told by doctors that this surgery last 10 years your lucky. and there are many side effects and sometimes the surgery does not work.

    how about talking about this?...

  • I have a sliding hernia i get dry heaves and gagging. I caused this from heavy weightlifting Im scared of strangulation or death I get sharp pain in my ribs and take acid reflux meds now and again.Caffeine makes it worse i think becase it relaxes the les valve I wnat it fixed but hear surgery makes it worse and usually somes back. I want to exercise again and be normal I get severe panic atatcks from this thinking im going to choke as i dry heave it sucks doctors say im fine but...

  • @auburn722 I really feel your pain too man, after i started working out i have this weird stomach pain and i dont actually dry heave or vomit but i always feel like i'm about to. I have been taking acid reflux meds too (omeprazol) but i haven't had a scope yet so i dunno what it is yet.

  • Steven-

I have a hiatal hernia and have been taking probiotics for about 3 years now, both in liquid and pill form. This REALLY helps. But I accdently discovered something else that even helps more- A algae-based DHA supplement from CVS phramacy called Agal 900 , & I supplement it with a daily dose of vitamin E. I'm very careful about what I ingest, and wanted to know from you if you have any evidence of any relationship between DHA and our digestive system w/ DHA I feel WAY better now !

  • Dr. Cassivi, please tell us what you do, or do not know, about the Transoral Incisionless Fundoplication. This procedure is being done in a Texas hospital and now in two places in northern Indiana.
