  • Wonderful! Congratulations!

  • nice! i'm practicing these right now and there is so much you can work into them and learn from! It's funny, i have also stopped variation 5 so far. I have a lot of different ideas about the interpretation though, naturally, but one thing i cannot overlook is the 16th notes in the aria at the end of bar 1 and 5 for example, you play them a bit too short, like 32th notes, compare with the 16th notes in bar 3 and 4. Other than that, good work! Very impressive for 4 years of playing.

  • Congratulations !Very soothing music -this is usually the case with Bach - Your rendition is crystal clear .Best wishes .Claude

  • masterpiece and you Matthew treat is so nice, with calmness+tunes move softly.thanks again, for sharing!

  • Thanks for the frend invite. This is very well played. I like the crisp ornamentation, and so stately. Well done. Steve.

  • reeeeally good

  • Stay blessed my brother. I make rap beats on a keybord and pray I get as good at playing the keys as you. I cant read music though ive had no lessons so I just play by ear lol.

  • @AZPlayboy28 Since you are already adept at the piano, you'll learn to read music very quickly. It'll all make sense.

  • Comment Part II (Thanks to the word limit)

Thanks for the invite! I am honoured that you asked me to listen to your works! I didn't listen to everything, but I particularly enjoyed soliloquy and introvert. And of course I will subscribe. By the way, I'm in the middle of writing my first, clumsy attempt at a symphony. When it's finished, it'll be on youtube, so keep an eye out for that if you're interested.

  • Only four years? So you started learning music relatively late then? Well, I have just listened to some of your compositions, and I guessed you had been playing the piano at a much younger age. This performance here seems quite good too! It's inspiring to me, because I only started learning music two years ago, and I now have the dream of becoming a professional composer! I'm going to college next year to major in music... it will have been after only three years of music!

  • @fishwithoutwings You'd be amazed what one can achieve with a little motivation.

It's taken a while, but my motivation has returned. I lost it for a few years. I really had to force myself to play and compose to get it going again.

The first time around it seemed almost like a biological certainty that all of this was going to happen. Like it was within my being. the second time I have really had to make it happen.

Good luck with your own musical studies. :)

  • 4 years, very good, great actually. You sound like you've been playing much longer. Bravo!

  • Dear Matthew,

Thank you so much for your friendship invitation. you do play this piece in detail and SERIOUSLY, in my humble opinion, your attitude to play this Goldberg variations also inspire me. without doubt 5***** ~ Meiling :)

  • Good interpretation.

    I am reminded of G.G.

    Maybe you like his performance.

  • yes, I was listening to Gould constantly in those days. Perhaps that's a habit I need to get going again. :D

  • Very good Mathew please keep up the Piano playing you are doing well. very well indeed Cheers RoniM

  • you play very well, my friend *****

  • @omitnot Thanks, mate. I worked pretty hard at it.

  • Yeah, HANNIBAL! This is Hannibal Lecter's favorite composition.

  • you really got talent-in many ways...have to say,bit surprised, positively and also my fav. composer!says::-timris- keep in touch, mate!first U2 and no classical performance-no 'barriers'-next HOTEL California?

  • Wow !!

    Only four years ?

    Genetically inclined ?

Desire & motivation must have been very high.

  • I knew it's what I was meant to do.

  • yeah.... but could you do it blindfolded???

HAH! : p.... Very Cool... peace PJ

  • Fn Mozart. There's always someone better than you at no matter what you do! :p

  • @--,'---

  • Hey, I like that! I wonder what I get when I make an effort with my appearance!

  • It is fantastic. Tough i am not really Bach material i think.

But then i didnt know Bach for guitar let go for piano?

    Very nice!

  • There is lots of Bach for guitar, and it's exceptionally good.

Nice to hear from you again.

  • Keep playing, you will regret yourself if you let it go.

  • Magnificent! You really are talented, dude!

I'm still working on a few songs and I can't seem to finish any of them =/

  • Yeah, I've been there.

Back when I used to compose a lot I'd set myself goals that'd ensure I usually got the work done.

I had to get at least ten works done per month, and I had a list on a board above me in the study with the works I was writing for each month. Once a piece was completed it'd get ticked off. If not it'd stay up there with no tick, and annoy the hell out of me.

One unfortunate side effect of this is that I'd complete some works a little too hastily.

  • Impressive !

  • Yay! :D

  • Have you learned "Green tip" yet?

  • It's in progress, I have a lot of work to do a the moment :'(.

    But it's get better :)

  • you are great.

its fantastic that you can play for more than 6 minutes without

score. the part after 5:33 seems to be very difficult*****

  • Yeah, the 5th variation is supposed to be very quick, with many changes in hand position. Glenn Gould makes it look so damned easy. It isn't. I got as far as variation 19 with score. Variation 10 from memory.

I'll conquer the whole thing one day. :)
