They have come a long way hah. But maybe today the series is lost but back then it showed some development. From98 to 99 version was a huge step. From

01 to 02 was pretty big step. And the 2003 and 2004 versions were pretty good still. From 2005 I think they got worse. To much focus on graphics less on playability and addictiveness -__-

For the time this game was a lot of fun. No fighting was a bummer, but that was one of the first hockey games I could remember where there was trading players.

I had this same PC version, played the hell out of it until I got NHL 97.

This game's presentation was so great. All the music sounded like it actually came from a real sports broadcast (it had that style that a lot of networks were using for their games at the time)...

Now EA mainly licenses tracks from established artists instead of using more authentic-sounding broadcast music. Quite the shame.

If the DosBox emulator is too slow for you, try VDM Sound emulator.

I use it to play old Dos games like GrandPrix 2, NASCAR Racing and IndyCar Racing 2.

I used to have NHL94 for PC. I'd say 95 looks updated in its opening/between periods screens and the voice of its announcers. The city outline used to show out of town scores makes me think of this HNIC intro (search for "Hockey Night In Canada Open October 1993"). Gameplay and sounds are 95% the same. Too bad I couldn't even hear NHL94's higher-def sounds on my "newer" pc with Win98SE... I loved this game :D

As well, I used a thing I found out called "Program Compatibility Wizard" to run the game on XP. Works just fine but cant get any damn sound out of it. Someone help please?

Can someone tell me the controls for the keyboard. I know space is to shoot, but nothing else. Mine didn't come with the box & instructions, and there arent any in the game, so I have to friggin clue what Im doing with the keyboard.

It should be alt.....and those are the only controls. Alt - Change player/Pass Space - Shoot/Hit/Speed burst without the Puck....Also if you're the home team f1 f2 f3 f4 changes your lines, away it's f5 f6 f7 f8.....Those were the controls in the Original NHL hockey for the pc, and I haven't played in in about 12 years.....But I sure did play the hell outta that game.

Not sure if you guys know this but in this exact game you can hit the ref but of course you get booted out of the game for doing so.

The easiest and fastest way to score was to just only skate towards the goalie make fake move and press the pass button. Same worked also with the earlier nhl 93-94. Playing with 10 minute rounds I scored approximately 18 times per game. :) With 20 minute rounds it would be possible to score 50-100 times. :D

Brings back memories...I'm from Vacouver and I bought this game after the Rangers won the cup and I always kept playing this game as the Canucks against the Rangers..and won again and again to get back at them..
