Some have been asking the name of the friend from India, whom he refers to at the start of the video. I believe it's Dr. Saroj Giri of the University of Delhi.
capitalism has created the current economic crisis..pure and simple...the apologists are running their spin machine 24/7 to blame everything else...a crisis is a terrible thing to waste...AGITATE...ORGANIZE.....EDUCATE....we can end capitalism in our lifetime..
around 32:00 when he mentions this realization by this east german computer scientist... It sounds shockingly similar to Fresco's Resource-Based economy principle of cybernation of production processes and assessment of human needs... cool
isn't there a name for what this guy has.. with all the ticks.. something like ADD or is that something else.. tourette but with tics.. other then that he's good with philosophy, . only problem i have with him is he concetrates to much on politics.. left/right it doesn't matter, .. what is at stake is the human mind, ..what is the state of that human mind? ..can that state be in peace? .. such is the discourse that is needed, all else is just politics on philosophical steroids..
I watched all of it but there a particular part I liked and wanted to watch again but can't find. Could somebody link me to the time when he talks about what he means by 'we', i.e. the we in the future tense as in Searle's notion of performativity?? I've been flipping through it for an hour now and still can't find it!

The London School of Economics? But economics almost inherently favors markets, which the ol' charming Marxist ought to oppose for some obscure reason...
@adjohnson916 conclusion of your statement is that no marxist should ever speak in an institution with "economics" in its title because that implies support for markets. That's infantile reasoning. Marx's famous tracts were all about political economy based on a close reading of the writings of contemporary economists.
@adycousins As far as I was aware, and especially in London, fundamental modern economic theory is modeled on supply and demand in the context of markets. I didn't expect such a school to entertain anti-market theorists. But then again, it is academia.
@adjohnson916 And you have it all wrong. It is not the anti-market theorists who are entertained by the modern economics. It is the modern economics being entertained by the anti-market theorists!
@adjohnson916 Y'all are obviously totally ignorant. The London School of Economics has traditionally been a major center of Marxism. Marixsm is economics. OMG. there is no hope for us as a species.
"So, the economics of ancient tribal society favored markets?"
Where did you find anything even tangentially related to this reply in my original comment? Just because modern economics favors one thing says nothing about the state of the field 3000 years ago. That's like protesting if I say that cars use wheels because 3000 years ago cars didn't. Jesus Christ.
@adjohnson916@adjohnson916 Marx is considered one of the most important economists of all times. Marxism is a way to interprete social and historical events from an economics point of view. If there is something marxism has been blamed of that is of being too oriented towards economics.
@adjohnson916 Marxist economist do not oppose completely free market operation because of obscure reasons, but because they believe markets cannot operate without some intervention, which are called "market failure" reasons. We can agree or oppose marxist economics, but deny their existence is nonsense.

Is this the great white dope - the bourgeois hero of Marxist academia? Proof surely, if it were needed, that the dream is over.

@EvilFercho I understand but those "nervous ticks" give him character. :-)
