Bravo!! This is a wonderful rendition of this Ernest Tubb classic! I've loved this song since I first heard it when I was a lot younger than I am now!! Thank you so much for sharing this one my friend!!--Lee
mrnorms--great job--my kind of music--you get 5 stars for a great job--you did it with feeling--plz visit me sometimes--ps--i am very anti naqshvill since they did in my older country singers in--as Merle haggard said "all lyrics and melodies sound the same--you cant tell one song from the other. that is his direct quote--And i am a big fan of merle haggard--But anyway ty--john
this song really make you think abut the men and women we have in service and all the ones that has never come home that's a good job singing this song
I grew up in Tasmania the little island beneath Australia n country music was all I ever heard until I was a teenager but am happy to say its all I really listen to even now but my children laugh at me trying to sing some of the old songs I have not sang n played for so many years to them its a joke ....the story line in those old songs
sori mate Iknow it was sang by Hank Snow but dont remember the titleas it was one I played about 40 years ago n everything in my music eqipment was lost in a fire back in 1972
Just reading the comments on your page n yes some of those songs when we played them at home would bring me to tears I would spend hours on weekends at parties playing n singing a lot of those old songs to people like me who had war service behind them
This one and Dear Uncle Sam were played a lot when I was growing up. I was the last one to get drafted during Nam in my family so they all had meaning for us...
am trying to locate the song about a little girl crying n telling her father that mommy didnt tuck me in last night......... been searching for 5 years now n would like help to locate a copy
I agree with you Norm. Even when I watch old movies, film clips, TV shows about the military during other wars their second tours back then can't compare with what our military faces today in their second or third tours. Two should be a minimum, and I do wish it was like that now at least.
Wow - I couldn't keep the tears from falling when I listened to this old classic. You've done a great job with your video here. Even tho our military is not basically fighting in trenches they are so susceptible no matter where they are today - and were yesterday. I recently saw the movie about the 5 Sullivan brothers all dying while serving together and my grateful thanks will always go out along with my prayers for their sacrifice and all others who gave it all. God bless America. - Paula
Thank You, war is never pretty and my greatest distress is that some of the troops have to do 2 or 3 or more tours in a combat zone, no human should have to go through that more then once, if ever.
floods of memories of my dad just came crashing upon me.....damn....I miss playing with him and this is one of my favorites. He use to sing a song I just called Toolbox...I can't find it anywhere..
I know the feeling, my Dads fav was Good Hearted Woman by Waylon, we used to play it whenever he was at a gig. I know the Stonewall Jackson version of "I'll go get the toolbox" but I saw another version on here by Smiley Bates, maybe that's the version you remember. It's the same song just not sure what artist you remember it by. Thanks for watching.
Looking at the emptiness the one I love had left My little boy said daddy mama's left us all alone I'll go get the tool box and you can fix our..

Off the top of my head the lyrics don't ring a bell, do you have more? Maybe someone watching may know also, I've had viewers help me before..
