This was made in 2000, before Rick was well known. Like or dislike his humour, this type of Anti-pc comedy was ahead of its time, now we wouldnt bat an eyelid at it. I remember seeing ricky on the 11 o'clock show and finding his comedy a little offensive, but now I think he is one of the cleverest comedians in britain. He was playing a character in these clips and also in the 11 oclock sketches.

The smut & swearing jarred so horribly with the presence of a truly eloquent & classy broadcaster.

When Tony - being a good sport - agreed to take part in this pointless show, in which Gervais clearly considered himself much more interesting than his esteemed guest, it just highlighted how Tony's legacy goes beyond his huge contribution to educational TV.

He was also a gentleman!

what you say seeing this is true.. but in the guy's defence, if you read Ricky Gervais' comments on this series from 2000 (or my description blurb) then you can see it's actually designed so that the interviewer is irreverent and in his own word "playing Billy Bigot"..
