This is one of my favourite albums of the year. I'd say it's better than Young Team actually. Amazing to hear many of these tracks live as well, White Noise was a fucking beautiful opener and Rano Pano, How To Be A Werewolf and You're Lionel Ritchie were amazing. George Square Thatcher Death Party was amazing as well, the vocoder vocals really helped.
One of the best reviews I have ever watched. An awesome band, an awesome album and you just know what you are saying...I think I watched this like 15 times now after I own the album for half a year and yeah...subbed!
@youmayatutorials So true . Once you see Mogwai live all you want to hear ......... is them LIVE !!! Of course you still listen to the cd's but you always look back on the live performance wanting to relive it . I have only seen them once live and was blown away . I bought my ticket for a show in Frisco to see them again and i couldn't make it due to job obligations . Yes .... I was bummed . But bottom line ..... Mogwai is awesome to hear live .
I saw their concert in Zurich yesterday - It was mindblowing!! Live they sound even more huge than on their albums, just incredible! One of the best shows I've ever seen up to now :)
Amazing review dude! you are so totally right, Hardcore is an amazing progression in the line of the Mogwai albums, San Pedro blew my my brains out, the whole thing is a freaking awesome record
It's the first time i see one of your videos, i though you were some king of geeky steve-o, but i consider you made a great job!!
Re: krautrock influence... Barry Burns (keyboardist/vocalist) does spend a bit of time in Berlin (and even owns a bar there!).
But yeah, pretty great record. A bit at the beginning where they're doing something new, a bit near the end where they're revisiting their classic sound.
Trippin off the beat kinda, drippin off the meat grinder, heat niner, pimpin, strippin soft steet minor. China was a neat signer, trouble with the script digits
Double dip/bubble lips, sorrow less midget
Borderline schizoid, sort of fine tits tho
Pour the wine hold the grind, quarter to nine, lets go
You should definitely review the new Low album when it comes out; from what I've heard it could be a classic - less experimental than Drums and Guns; a 'mature' album, but somehow all the better for it.
I don't know man, it's a 10/10 in my book. Beat the crap outta Young Team.. You talked about evolution alot, which is how I'd define the sound of this album. Especially in recording quality, it's just.. Flawless.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE review the new bright eyes album!!! Its awesome! and i would like you to acknowlegde that XD it would be awesome and ill be your best friend :D
I thought about it when I first heard the album title and then again when you mention the half tempo "breakdown". Do you feel like maybe there was some hardcore influence on this? I'm talking about some very light influence.
do you ever do a review of an album then feel differently about it after additional listenings later on down the road? whether it is more positive or more negative?
Request: Fen's new album "Epoch". I've listened to it and found it a good Agalloch-ish Folk/Black metal album and enjoyed it quite a bit, but I know you've done a few Metal reviews recently so I wouldn't mind if you don't check it out.
My first time with Mogwai and i liked that very much.
Could you, please, make review of latest "Social Distortion - Hard Times and Nursery Rhymes". I was very surprised by this album, although i do not have any previous experienci with the band.

YAY you finally review it! I'm lovin this album 2,but dude your crazy edit there at the beginning scared the crap out of me! (i started having david lynch & silent hill flashbacks XD lol) was that your dad at the beginning?
hi anthony, theres a fairly well known band in England called Let's Wrestle..they've been signed onto Stolen Records for a while and their album was my personal favourite of 2009...however they have recently jumped labels onto Merge Records and their album 'In the Court of the Wrestling Let's' is going to be released in the states next month.....i'd love to hear what you think of it because its well loved over here. if you dont want to review it...i STRONGLY reccommend that you give some time! x
dude is it possible for you to have a favorite genre. your talking about mogwai and vreid and moshing with a madvillain album in the background. I mean much respect for having time for every genre but can u settle on one? DOOM is sweet by the way
can you review negura bunget's new album? it was released last year, but i figured it's still new enough :P they're ambient black metal, kinda like agalloch
I really liked this album, theres a lot to listen tooo
its not the kind of thing im going to listen to forever once i have a grasp of it, but like a certain animal collective LP, it's going to be great walking-around headphone music till I've figured it all out knowmsayin
I really thought what you said about Mogwai's albums each having their own distinct personality or theme was spot on. I see no such thing as old Mogwai or new Mogwai, you have to take each album on its own. My favorite Mogwai moments are the last five minutes or so of Mogwai Fear Satan, but I'd probably take Rock Action over Young Team nine times out of ten.
