You have to give credit to a band to take a iconic song and really make it their own. Despite all the complaining, it is quite a unique performance. It is way better than most "covers."
When Frank Black screams he wants to grow up to be a debaser, you believe him. When this guy says it, you don't. The sheer ferocity in which the original is played stomps this version into the ground.
This is terrible. The only band that you know can pull off a Pixies song before you even hear it (besides the Pixies) is Mouse. I wanna see Isaac Brock play Debaser and make these guys look like pussies.

There's nothing worse than a cover that sounds exactly like the original. But this is so far from the original it's unrecognizable except for the lyrics. All the chords and a lot of the melodies are completely changed. This version isn't my cup of tea.
I thought it was pretty sweet. People trying to cover other groups songs and sound exactly alike is kind of stupid and in a way totally defiles the art of musical expression in my opinion. Music is about expressing yourself, and if you're just trying to do exactly what the other guy is doing then what are you left with? But when you put your own twist on it, it becomes yours in a way.
If I wanted to listen to a debaser cover that sounded just like the original, I'd just listen to the original.

The song is meant to be very high intensity. I know covers are not supposed to sound exactly like the originals, but this really just seemed like a colossal misinterpretation of the source material. You guys tried to transform it into some kind of indie pop and it didn't quite work.
Get to fuck, they did a decent re-working of the song, its never gonna top the original, but they deserve props just for giving the song a new twist. I'm one of the biggest Pixies fans on the planet and I think this ia great cover so fuck off.

It's interesting. The entire point to Debaser is the feeling you get from it. The song itself gives off a vibe of fear, anger, rage.
Rogue Wave completely changed that.
It's what Ben Folds did to "Bitches Ain't Shit".
It's what Gary Jules did to Tears for Fear's "Mad World."
It's the same lyrics, but it's a completely new song.
I enjoy both versions, by the way.

I heard two of Pixies (Debaser) and two of Rogue wave and I've to say they're much better in my opinion.
The Instrumentals are more harmony you know.

There's nothing worse than a cover that sounds exactly like the original. But this is so far from the original it's unrecognizable except for the lyrics. All the chords and a lot of the melodies are completely changed. This version isn't my cup of tea.

I thought it was pretty sweet. People trying to cover other groups songs and sound exactly alike is kind of stupid and in a way totally defiles the art of musical expression in my opinion. Music is about expressing yourself, and if you're just trying to do exactly what the other guy is doing then what are you left with? But when you put your own twist on it, it becomes yours in a way.
If I wanted to listen to a debaser cover that sounded just like the original, I'd just listen to the original.

The song is meant to be very high intensity. I know covers are not supposed to sound exactly like the originals, but this really just seemed like a colossal misinterpretation of the source material. You guys tried to transform it into some kind of indie pop and it didn't quite work.
