Wow, that's spooky... The first Puro tape I bought was the Baba Memorial, and aside from Misawa/Vader, THAT match made me become an instant fan of King's Road. I lost the tape, and spent YEARS trying to track that match down. I just found it here on YouTube a couple of months ago. That was a great day...
Also, haven't really heard Gojira, but I really dig them, thanks to this video.
Check out Swap Magic. It lets you use imports without really modding your PS2. You just have to pop the front of the tray off, which you can always put back on.
You can usually find the game on eBay for a good price. I can't recommend buying something from someone outside of the typical 'online transaction' channels, though.
Is this game better than Fire Pro Wrestling returns? Does it have 500 create a wrestler slots? how many moves can you select for create a wrestler? And how many wrestlers start out on the natural roster?
I know a few people who own the game and I've heard it's really hard to get going in learning how to play. Any tips that I could use on maybe picking the game up?
Get used to the timing of the grappling, as that will be your biggest hurdle with the gameplay, as if you aren't timing these properly, you'll get reversed quite often. Also, get a feel for when your opponent is getting weaker, as that will allow you to know when to bring out the bigger moves in your character's arsenal.
Out of those 3 I'd say KOC2 by several miles. Then ASPW3, then WK2 after everything else. Do you own Fire Pro Returns already? If not, get that as well.
Here's how I rank the PS2 wrestling games:
KOC2, Fire Pro R, KOC Red, KOC Green, ASPW3, Fire Pro Z, ASPW2, ASPW1, Wrestle Kingdom 2, Wrestle Kingdom 1.
Japanese only release. If you're worried about 'understanding' it... you'll have no problem. There are tons of guides, FAQs, and people willing to help out. If you're worried about playing it... modding isn't that difficult.
Most certainly. In the KOC games, it's done via a 'powerball' offensive move from Kawada out of the powerbomb clutch. In AJPW King's Soul on PS1, it was actually a reversal of a reversal just like the first time Kawada performed the move on Misawa.
What an awesome game. Great animation, deep - DEEP movesets, awesome roster. It was totally worth destroying my old ps2 just to play this game for a couple of months. If this game got the translation treatment like FPR, I'd kiss a random dude on the street. Fer reelz.
I agree this is still the best wrestling engine out there. I bought a all region ps2 just to play this and have been loving it ever since. Does anyone know if there is a KOC3 on the horizon. If they developed for the PS3 or 360 it would be the too Sweeeeeeeeet!
We can only hope that Spike is working on another game right now. I have a feeling it's Fire Pro for the DS, but I would really really love to play KOC3 sometime this year.
Check out my videos of King's Soul for the PS1. That's where this series began.
Awesome job, man. Great clips, and great job on the synching. I loved how the drum beat was used for the Ganmengiri. It actually sounded like the actual slow mo sound of the kick hitting Hase's head.

no need to mod if you use swap magic (but using SM is pretty tricky.)

Hey, Sonnybone. Do you recomend buying this game used?
GWSuperstars 2 years ago
Let me put it this way... this is my favorite wrestling game of all time. I paid about $112 for it and would gladly pay more.
Not owning this game is a crime.
SonnyBone 2 years ago
Thank you. So even if I buy it used, it's well worth it? The person I'm buying from seems to be reputable.
