This video and song really moves heard and though. You can see the difference between people living on the same planet. Society is our operating system. For some of us like virus with no escape.
You are woefully mistaken about the realities faced by people living in the developing world if you believe that protectionism and paternalistic government are going to provide these people with more opportunities than free trade. Or do you believe that child laborers can leverage a higher price for their work from their dirt-poor countrymen?
Thank GOD for free enterprise! The rich do not make the poor poorer. If anything, the poor bid wages down, the true complaint of anti-globalizationists.
you are right....from a economical point of view, this people thank god for having these jobs, without them they would be making even lees money, and for women in such countries is even worse because hey have to become prostitutes..
However, they should be paid more i think.. even though that the money thyey got from international enterprises espicially u.s pay them more than twice what thwy would get from working on another typical job in their country
this is one of the most powerful videos ive even seen. This is the second song ive heard from radiohead and this shows that they are caring people who are doing a great thing by showing us the horrors and cruelty in the world and the cozy lifestyle we live that we take for granted
I hope this song does more than make people sad and think about how lucky they are. I hope, and I'm sure Radiohead would agree, it inspires people to think of ways they can take action against social inequalities and injustices like the ones we see in this video.
I agree with kisszelecki, but we mustn't forget that every country has his own culture, way of life, way of thinking,... I ask myself, sometimes, who's luckier? them? us?
That child's culture, way of life, way of thinking has been seriously trampled on by American capitalism and free trade that has prevented him from having any semblance of a real childhood with a real future. If you think they're lucky because they're forced to work in sweatshops from a very young age just to help their families put food on the table because the economy in which they live is so downtrodden, also largely a result of capitalism and free trade agreements, then you need help.
brilliant.
