I was lucky enough to follow Forbidden around the uk in '88 i think when they toured with Sacred Reich. Brilliant band live and i got into the gigs on the guest list so VERY happy memories for me. And what a mosh pit...apart from Birmingham Edwards No8 where some poser over zealous security roughly kicked me out for attempting to mosh!!! And i got a punch in the face for good measure. Still great memories though.
This.... gives me a boner!! Oh dear, 1988 seems to be right, makes one wanna jump right into the pit. And that raw guitar sound - wohooo, and the drums chunky chunky chunky. Band`s extremely agile, quite rare nowadays - perfect get-together of the band and the crowd partying together mowing down everything. Russ looks so well-toned. Für den Scheiss müsste Zuchtschwein en Fass Bier bekommen. 1000 und 1 Dank!
I never understood why it was always about metallica when Forbidden kicks living shit out of them. The year was 1988 when Testament,Violence,Forbidden,Sanctuary was really thrashing it. Never Metallica.
First, they need to re-release this on DVD. Second, the camera work is excellent especially at 2:08-2:11, the close up mosh pit. Nowadays, the camera moves too fast and does not get the fans.
This could be one of the most underrated bands from the 80's thrash scene, amazing musicianship, amazing intensity, fucking awesome!! If you don't have their debut album 'Forbidden Evil' then get it!!
Oh man do i love this show and the band, one of the best without a doubt! As it seems, the thrashing took it's place in '88 at the Trocadero Theater (Philadelphia). Tracks from Forbidden are "Feel No Pain" and "As Good As Dead" on the 1st video, and from the 2nd there's Through Eyes of Glass" and finally "Chalice Of Blood". What can i say, thrash taken into it's perfection! That's how i feel atleast.
On October 23, 1988, at the Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia, Combat Records brought together five of their premier acts—Raven, Dark Angel, Death, Faith or Fear and Forbidden—to film the follow-up to their now-classic Ultimate Revenge home video, which featured Venom, Slayer and Exodus.

@joppejohn I know dude, as much as I love and respect Metallica...this slays them!
This is thrash at it's absolute finest!
Having said that, the BIG in big four means BIG(ie popular) not BEST. Otherwise Testament would have been in there too.
