I was quite happy with the Grindstone UI, it was streamlined and professional. This new design looks a bit unsightly... distracting transparency effects and more clutter. I hope the main window is not as busy as it looks in this video.
What I'm really looking forward to is picking the location of the database myself. I've now nuked my recorded times of several weeks twice because I restored by system drive from an image and forgot to backup the Grindstone database!
@Cygon4 The transparency is automatically disabled in Windows XP and when a Remote Desktop session is detected. For Windows Vista and Windows 7 users, it is a preference that can be turned off.
I like the Grindstone 2 UI very much. It doesn't detract from the content it manages and this is why I value it. While the new UI seems to have some nice features it also seems to be flashy and obstructing.
I get the feeling it would be more of a hindrance than a help in using Grindstone.
I don't agree with the PCWorld Magazine review at all! The UI we have looks good and most importantly supports the content.
@taipan4523 I'll second taipan4523's thoughts. It looks like it has great additional functionality coming... but as they say -- form before function. The UI of this new version looks cluttered an uncessarily dense. If 99% of the time what you're doing is entering time, I don't want filtering / cosmetic functions overwhelming the UI.

@Rodnox Yeah, looks like YouTube's compression messed the video up a little bit.

@taipan4523 I can understand flashy (kinda) ... but obstructing? What about the new UI do you think would be getting in your way?
